  1. Terrorizing highways and byways? But everyone tells me these are old man bikes.... as I'm passing them
  2. My POS I mean PO was a heavy handed red neck. Everything that dude touched was busted.
  3. Good Call! I've got the multimeter sitting here looking at me.. Maybe I should have noticed lol oh and I'll need E-6000!
  4. Yup the only body damage beside a scrape on the left side fairing has all been done by the PO I tend to call him the POS but that just slips out
  5. Getting ready to go on this trip... leaving in 10 days. Just trying to get the tools that I'll probably need, and the ones I hope I dont, but i MAY need. I've got tire plugs, an air pump, my bead breaker/tire irons, phillips and flat head screw drivers. The tool kit that came with the bike. A nice big channel locks. A few different sized vice grips, allen wrench sets (never too worried about allen sockets, If I need the length I'll just use a vice grip to turn the short side of the allen wrench) a 1/4 inch drive ratchet with 6mm through 15mm sockets I'll also bring a 3/8 drive ratchet with 12-maybe 21 imm sockets. I'll probably bring a small hammer too. Also have electrical tape and duct tape. I've also got the socket wrenches that came with the tool kit and I really think I've got about everything I need. I'm starting to get excited if you cant tell!
  6. I would be interested, but one thing to remember. If you base the mold off your current fairings and plastics there is alot of warping and sagging that the plastic goes through. You may have a hard time mounting your new plastics on without stretching them
  7. They're not as top heavy as many here think. As @cowpuc has said on his RSV test ride, they are actually quite a bit lighter in the front than our 1st gens. I like the royale stars, but I prefer standard controls and I like the leg guards. There's something to be said about being able to ride through a rain shower and not come out totally drenched.
  8. My sentiments exactly about the water on the road. Even in the middle of the day it surprised me and i found myself grabbing a ton of brake! Typically as a rule i try not to ride at night but as you said, you get in that magic hour and something tells you to just keep pushing! When we had the major flooding come through that driving at night stuff caught a cager by surprise when he found himself in a few feet of rushing flood water. Unfortunately he didn't survive the ordeal. As far as the recording goes thanks for the advice! I'm leaving here on the first of the month so i think I'll get plenty of practice recording. Just be ready to get tired of seein my ugly mug!
  9. I think this falls back on what you were saying about getting the testosterone flowing with them ARs and the grandsons. I think you can sum it all up in 4 words Boys Will be Boys!
  10. Took a ride from Wayne, NE to Madison to Burwell then to atkinson up to about 7 miles west of Oniell and blew a tire. Spent some time getting that fixed and rode home. 320 miles that day. It was a great day. I didnt realize how wet western nebraska was this year! Here are a few good pics and a short video from the ride on Nebraska Highway 11. Notice the windmill submerged in 2 feet of water still trying to pump more up!
  11. I wonder if emissions was a big reason why yamaha went with a V-Twin. According to the owner of B and B cycles the V-Max's only get about 28 mpg. Now that being said I'm sure they could detune it for better economy, but maybe they could just never pull the fuel mileage that seems to be standard on tourers these days which, from what you guys are reporting are religiously in the high 40s to low 50s? I've told my dealer time and time again that if it have a V-4 in it I'd already be saving money, but he just seems to laugh me off. Although that Transcontinental has been sitting there since they were first shipped out. To be fair, they havent moved that goldwing that sits right beside it, but I know for a fact that they sold at least one of each.
  12. Just gonna throw my 2 cents in here. 1 handed 5th gear roll on to 125 mph pushing a head wind. Hard to see, but if you up the video quality to 480p you can see it better
  13. Alright heres a few more test pics if they'll work I just needed to re-size them! TaDa! Thanks @cowpuc !
  14. That's an awesome pic of the grand kids!
  15. I don't believe so. I'll try that though I don't remember when the last time I uploaded a picture is. Wonder if its been about the same time. No sir, right off the computer . Its still not letting me upload
  16. I tried uploading photos of my heated grip build but its not letting me. I'll try it here... Yeah it wont let me. Anyone else having this issue?
  17. Hey guys! I've got those grips installed and I said I'd do a review so here it is! These grips work wonderfully! Easy to install and on the high setting they get so hot you can hardly hold on. I installed them with a relay, wich I found out i didnt need, but either way I didnt want them to be able to run with the bike off. In the first pic you can see how I mounted the button. I actually gutted the cassette deck and wired in a Bluetooth receiver so all the cassette buttons are just for show. It definitely helped keep that clean look though, even though my crap wood bit bounced all around and chewed the hell out of the plastic
  18. Quincy Illinois is a pretty cool town on the bluffs but probably a little further south than what you're looking for
  19. You wouldn't believe what I-29 looks like south of Omaha. Looks like an ocean except with grain bins collapsed all over. We took my nephews to eminence Missouri and had to find another way home because they closed the interstate again. To be fair though, that entire stretch of road lies in the Missouri river valley so you're really asking for flooding there
  20. Yup Karma done come full circle on that one. Had a dude steal my pickup. He never wrecked or got hurt or anything. Just got arrested and had to pay me 150 bucks. That was good enough for me
  21. Just glad you made it
  22. I agree with that sentiment there. I never lost any air on the way back but the bike just "felt" wrong with that weak link.
