  1. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread?t=512 This is the emergency bypass, Instructions. Also, the switch can be remove, and dissassembled, and in the bottom section, you can clean up the contacts. Sombody posted a threat last month, with photos of the dissassembly process. Maby sombody can find that posting.
  2. Jack!! A Pike, is a gator Without any Legs !!! The REALLY big ones are called " Muskie's " http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/cnr_images.asp?view=detail&photoid=850 Your only allowed to catch them, IF, you have a Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Canadian " Accent " Folks from these Parts Consider these fish to be just somewhat Normal. However Folks from Iowa, can Only dream of a once in a lifetime trip to Northern Minnesota, to try catching one of these legless Alligators. However the folks from Iowa use Cane Poles, and very seldom catch one, they usually settle for Bull Heads ( ie. small cat fish ). Being Born and Raised in Minnesota Farm country, is why I know all these things.
  3. This is common of problem of the 83 and some 84 models. 2nd gear goes out. There are many postings on this web site concerning this problem. Others will give you the details.
  4. I'm with you on all that. I'm all for " Alternative Energy". However, At best it can only replace about 20 precent of total World Usage. Electric cars, Solar, whatever sombody can think of, but about 20 percent is the limit. UNLESS, there are some New Breakthru's in Physic's !!! Many people around the world are working on these things, they are comeing, but will take time. That number ( 20 percent ) comes from Holland, where they have taken it the maximum, and have done 20 percent replacement of Oil products. And your right, everything is eventually paid for by the consumer !! I agree with you on that one. I have been hearing there is a company in Calif. that has made a big breakthru in Solar Cells, but not on the market as yet. Another Point, concerning Corn Ethenol. If farmers were allowed to grow Hemp, instead of Corn, to make the Fuel. You can get almost 10 times the tonnage per acre ( or hectar ) of biomass to turn into fuel !!! Hmmmm ??? Maby sombody should think about that one. Interesting ??? One other item: We are not allowed to build any New Nuclear Plants in the U.S. I wonder why?
  5. Check the water Level, make sure its above the plates. Use Distilled water to top off. If you have a " Sealed Battery " Use an Intence light to try to determine if the fluid is above the plates. If its below the plates, then the Sealed battery is probably toast. If its over 3 years old, its problably toast. For charging a Lead Acid MC battery, thats in a " Low " charge state, you need to charge it at 2 to 6 amps untill the Charge indicator on the charger, shows less then say about .5 Amp. You can also buy a " Specific Gravity " testor to get an accurate determination of the charge state. But this will not work with a Sealed battery, as you cannot get into it. Usually at 2 Amps, it will take 6 or more hours to reach a full charge. Forget the Trickle charger, get a Real charger. With your engine running at about 2000 RPM, Take a DC voltage reading at the + Battery terminal, you should see Between 13.4 to 14 volts. Use a Digital Voltmeter, so you can get an Accurate Voltage Reading. IF-- its in the Low 12 volt range, ( the charging voltage that is ) then you probably have some problems in your charging system.
  6. Did you see the posting by " Squeez " in Germany the other day ? He said the Oil Barrons, have their Office's in Hamburg, their Office buildings next to each other, and that can set the price with hand signals just like the folks do on the Stock Exchange floor. There is NO Legal Record of this Price Fixing. Oh well, I have noted over the years, that some things I buy have gotten more expensive. However other things are much Cheaper. The first Color TV I bought, cost me about $500 back in 1972. Adjusted for Inflation, that about $5000.00 in todays money. ( how much a color TV cost today ? ) Back in 1974 I bought a small New car for $2400.00, thats about $25,000.00 in todays money, and today I can buy a same size car for $13,500 , today. ( and its a better car ) I can get that car for Half as many pay checks today, as I paid back in 74. So I have the difference between 13.5K and 25K to use to buy gas. I'm all for Alternative Energy source's !! But for the next 20 to 30 years they can only supply 20 to 30 precent of world needs, At Best. IF, they are developed. Question is, will they be developed ? I doubt the oil Barrons in Hamburg are going to let that happen.
  7. I'm heading out for Reno, 2nd July, spending the holliday weekend with Sister and hubby at cabin by the big lake. They are rideing up from LAX Will miss you folks by a few days.
  8. OK, figure the gallons for the 3000 mile trip, Total that you burned. Now assume, you got lets say 4 MPG better, How much Less Gas would you have burned? How much less money would that have cost ? Now, ask yourself, is it really worth worrying about, within the larger scheme of things ??? Especially when you consider that we only get to live one life, and we are some of the lucky few that get to ride motorcycles !!! ( wherever we happen to ride to ) Question? Did you have a good time on this trip ??? If you had spent the day playing Golf of some similiar sport, would you have spent any less money ?? In comparison to all the other costs of owneing and operating a Motorcycle, is the cost of fuel, really that big a deal ???? I went out today and rode around " Aimlessley " for 3 hours, I wasted about $12.00 worth of gas, But you know what, I enjoyed the day !!! It was money Well Spent !!! And I don't care what the Envirenmentalist Wacko's have to say about burning to much of the stuff!!!
  9. 26H-82120-00-00 Stock part, any yamaha dealer, See " Yamaha motorcycle co. " web site, you can view the parts catalog, under " Star Motorcycles " Order on line, or by phone most any Yamaha dealer
  10. But its cooling down again tonight. Maby 2 more days of below normal cold air heading East over the Mountain States, toward tornado alley. Sun came out about Noon, went for a nice 3 hour ride.
  11. Still Heavy overcast over Wa. state, this morning, cold air, heading East.
  12. Just watching the mess in Iowa on TV. We Still have very cold air, over the NW states heading East over Idaho, Montanna and headed your way back east. Two more days of cold Air predicted out here, so stay on your toes for Tornado's back there for at least 3 more days. It ain't over yet !!
  13. was just listioning to Jim Interviewing a member of Congress, Same word, its the commodity market bidding up the price. He said they are working on a bill to allow off shore drilling, and more on the 48 states. Dems voted it down. ( Nancy has iron grip on her flock ) However it will be on the floor for couple weeks yet, its not dead. Also, on BBC news, today, Spain is running dry at stations. Truckers on Strike, and Food outlets are getting low on supplies. ??? Stay tuned.
  14. Check the Side Stand Switch !! Very common problem. Then go from there. Next the 40 amp main fuse, then the " ING 15 amp fuse "
  15. We would love to hear your Friends Comments, after he DownShifts, and Opens the Throttle !!!
  16. For more Information: some google search terms. 1. " Oil Drilling Below 30,000 feet " 2. " Oil Rigs capable 30,000 feet " 3. http://www.midwestoilgas.com/OFFSHORE%20RIG.htm This, link shows a couple of Rigs for Sale that drill to 30 and 35,000 feet. 4. " 30,000 ft Rig for sale " If your really interested, in the Crude Below 30,000 feet ( which is not fossil fuel ) these 3 google search's and one direct link will get you started on finding out whats really going on in the Oil Drilling world, that is NOT talked about on the 6:00 O'Clock News.
  17. Yes!!, Down shift, Open throttle, and Hang ON !!!!!!! Its Not a Harley !!!!!
  18. The video link, was produced by a Baptist Minister, may be of interest
  19. Did you watch the Video Link, the " Gary N " posted above ?? SUV's don't have anything to do with whats happening, sorry, thats not the problem.
  20. And, the Oil at Gull Island, and the Kola Peninsula, as mentioned by Pastor Lindsy in the video, is just a small part of New Crude Oil finds, that the Public is not being Informed about. I list several more here. 1. Massive deposits In Northern Montana, not being drilled. 2. New finds off the East coast of Brazil 3. New finds, off the Coast of North Vietnam 4. Deep drilling, ( to 30,000 feet ) in Central India 5. New finds, in S.E part of Utah 6. New 30,000 ft wells starting to Produce off N. E. Tip of Sakhalin Island. ( Siberia ) -- 1st well here, started pumping Oct. 2007, at rate of 250,000 barrels a month. --- Also, Initially the Alaska N. Coast fields feeding the Pipeline were Only supposed to last 25 years !! Well, its been 30 years now, and they are still pumping at 80 percent of the Initial flow rate. Makes Sence, Gold, has been replaced by Oil. Hmmmm ???
  21. I will be watching for the Magazine Testing Results of the New V-Max. Will be interesting to see the Drag Strip, Time's and Speeds, in 1/4 mile Drag Runs. As to price, here in U.S. its Easy to find a used Busa, for 5 to 7,000 dollars. And most will be under 10 to 15K miles on the Clock. My 1999 model, has 14K miles on it, and would be worth about $5500.00 on the U.S. Market. However, an RSTD, or RSV with that New Engine !!!!!! Wow, now that would be worth the money.
  22. Voice operated Squelch. !!! Question: to speak on the Intercom, do you have to Key the Mic, on a 2nd gen ?? Is the Sound of the Horn Actuating the Microphone, and feeding the loud audio ( from the Horn ) into the Microphone on your helmet. ??? Feedback?? Anyone
  23. I can find any number of " used " Busa's for about $7K, in the U.S. Most under 10K miles. You may have some points there Squid, however, my Busa has so much power and torque, not sure what I could do with any more. Unless, maby if I was going to go raceing, on a Drag Strip. The thing hits 90 ft. lbs of torque between 2000 and 2500 RPM. With only 498 lb. of dry weight, well, you know what I mean. Red line in 2nd gear is 134 MPH. I don't think I've ever used more then 1/4 throttle, thats enough to scare the you know what out of me. Brakes are fantastic as far as I can tell, ABS might be better, but ????? Shaft drive ?? might be worth extra money, however I have the highest quality chain money can buy on my Busa, 11K on it, so far, have only adjusted it Up One notch on the Swing arm. ( Granted, the stock Chains, that Suziki uses, are NO Good !!! ) One good burn out, and the stock Chains will Stretch. Oh Well, if you get a chance to take a ride on a Busa, don't pass it up. I think you would be very pleased !!!!
  24. sounds just right !! for milage
  25. Now if a guy had a " Harley Springer ' model. Car tire would look real Original on one of those. My Brother In Law has an 03 Springer, all black, he is in process of modifying as much as possible to duplicate a 1939 model. I'll have to mention to him, that a car Tire, would make it look " Older " As I recall, my old 47 Harley, the tire did look like a car tire.
