  1. Autozone here in Renton, Wa. has it in gallon jugs! Much cheaper then the small can's. I keep the small can's and refill them from the large jug. That reminds me, its time to get another jug !!
  2. But at the bottom of the listing it says they will not be in stock until, 7 May, 2017. I missed that the first time I saw the listing. I just typed in the search " batteries" , scrolled down thru all the flashlite batteries, and it is shown at the bottom of the page. Looks like they have As to Amps, or CCA, I have not found a battery that is higher then the DEKA, AGM's. The ETX-20L size for Venture's, is listed as a 310 CCA. The largest they are going to carry is the 400 CCA, they have 4 size's, the 310 is the smallest size. Also, of note few years back I bought an AGM for my son's CX-500, it came from China, only lasted about 3 months !! and crapped out. The DEKA's from Penn. are the ones you want !!
  3. Shopping for a --- DEKA AGM --- battery this morning. Just stumbled on the fact that " LOWES " is carrying the DEKA agm batteries. ( at least here in the seattle area ) Who would have guessed that They have the YTX -20LBS for $87 bucks. These are the U.S. made good ones. Made in Pa.
  4. I just found information, there will be a total Eclipse of the Sun, on Aug 21st this summer. It will start on the Oregon Coast line at 16:48:39 Universal Time ( 9:48 AM PST ) with total eclipse at 17:15:58 UCT. It will pass over Or. ID, Wyo, Kan, Mo, KY, Tn, and SC. ( Coast to Coast ) Duration of totality, will be 2 min. 40 sec. Info I found says you have to be within + or - 60 miles of the line to see it in totality. Plan a nice " Day Trip " RIDE, if you have a free day, and a full tank of gas !!!! Anyway if your " On the Road" on Aug 21 this summer, watch the show !! Go to NASA web site for detailed info, and Map. I just found this info few min. ago, so will be marking the calendar, and plan a trip, of about 5 hours run South on I-5, to Eugene, Ore. to get into the perfect position to watch it. Will have to leave about 5 AM. Do a Google Search, find details, for viewing, depending on your location across the U.S.
  5. Hmmm , I have never done that -------

    Rain

Water being thrown up from front wheel to the plug on the TCI. Access the TCI, remove plug, dry out everything, Re install, and Seal up the Plug on the TCI, with Sealastic Sealant. ( the rubber stuff ) available at all autoparts stores. I sealed up All plugs on front end of my New 08 within a week after buying it. I drive in Rain All the time, here in Seattle, Never had a problem ( similar to yours that is )
  7. Yes!! it will cause slippage, if you are using the standard Mobil 1 Car Oil !! ---- Switch to a standard " MOTORCYCLE OIL " You might have to go thru 2 Oil Changes to get ALL of the Car Oil out of your engine. If Clutch still slipping, the simplest next step is to install a BARNETT , Clutch Pressure Plate. About a 2 hour job. Easy to do. No real need to replace ALL the Clutch Plates, unless its a VERY High Milage bike .
  8. Would like to see, a bit more detail on this, as to just exactly which O-Ring caused this problem. ( I might order a few spare's for the tool box )
  9. Agree on the Super Brace !!! A big improvement in Handling, Well worth the money, ( If you do not already have it installed )
  10. When you drill the center hole in the bolt for the EASY OUT, BE darn sure you are drilling the correct size hole in the center of the broken bolt!! I suggest using a smaller drill, then drill with the final size drill. Use a variable speed drill also !!! Work Slowly !! Also, Buy NEW --- HIGH QUALITY DRILL BITS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The EXPENSIVE ONES !!!! --- NO, old worn out, or RE-Sharpened, drill bits from your tool box !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ---- If you happened to know somebody who is experienced in this job, I suggest you ask him to come over and help, And YOU Supply , the Beer, and a Big Steak dinner, to ENTICE HIM to help you with this job .
  11. Only one thing to do, stay away from big trucks !
  12. Well, over the years, the close calls have happened 2 or 3 times every rideing season. Best to just get used to it, or quit rideing. Stay sharp, and trust that little nagging voice in back of your head, if it says to you, slow down, or stop--------- DO IT !!! And, stop and take a break at least every 2 hours on the road !!! If your really in a hurry, take the car !!!
  13. Well, can't go to Canada unless I get a passport, or get my driver licence upgraded. But I been thinking about doing that. But I might still head over to Montana, and Wyoming, still some roads in those states I need to ride !! Also considering the SE Oregon area, lots of roads there still on my list , of rides to do. Bike is ready to hit the road !! At least I think it is ---
  14. Haven't heard anything, so I guess No Venturwest this year ??
  15. Dunlop E-3's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On Rears, I usually get 18K Plus or minus miles out of them
  16. I have found that over the years, All Wife's say that !!! In fact, mine has been saying for the last few months, that I should Sell my 99 Busa !! Can you imagine that ????
  17. As to the type of oil to use: Before you go to the expense of replaceing the Clutch Parts. Do an oil change, use a Motorcycle Oil, with API Services, SJ/ SG/ SF, JASO MA2. I switched to Valvoline, Motorcycle Oil, 4T Stroke Full Synthetic 10W - 40. About 2 months ago. and my clutch STOPPED !! slipping. The important thing here is NOT the brand, or weight, its the API Service Rateing !!! I bought this Oil, at my local , Autozone, I was shopping for the " Rateing " not the brand. Again, I was using , Mobil One, Car, Oil. and it was slipping, even with a Barnett Pressure Plate Installed. After the oil change, the slipping stopped. Give it a try, or go to a motorcycle dealer, and try Any brand of motorcycle oil, this might solve your problem !! A lot cheaper then replaceing the clutch
  18. Question: ? Are you using Motorcycle Oil ?? NOT Car engine oil--- If you use the car oil, it has extra lubricants in it, that will cause the clutch to slip. If so, change to " Motorcycle " oil . I have the Barnett clutch, and it was starting to slip again using Mobil One. My mistake, switched to " Motorcycle Oil " and now not slipping
  19. If its the clutch push rod, seal, give it some miles, might stop leaking. However this was a very common oil leak on the 1st gens. My 89 started leaking there at around 50K miles. I just ignored it. Not sure how to replace the seal, but as I remember somebody said you have to tear down the transmission to change that seal. BUT, I AM NOT SURE ON THAT POINT. Bike was sold 6 years ago, so I just forgot about that leak. Be sure you REPLACE ALL the Brake Fluid, and Clutch fluid !!!!! Cleaning tank, is good thing to do, they collect water in bottom of tank. YOU might have to rebuild the fuel petcock. Also replace the Fork Fluid !!! Replace fuel filter !! Pull out the Ignition Unit, under the air cleaner, remove cover and Dry it Out !! They are know to collect Moisture !!! Use, SEA-FOAM, in fuel when you hit the road with it !!! A good thing to do. Don't forget to change the Anti Freez, collant !!! I assume you will replace the AGED Tires, been sitting a long time, I recommend the Dunlop E-3's !! ( Be sure to Liberally GREESE the Rear Drive Gears !!! ) ( Also, pull the drive shaft, when changing rear tire, and Hand Greese the Drive Shaft Splines !!! ) This is not in the service manuel !! We all do this job !! Most of us here recommend the DEKA Brand AGM Dry Cell Batteries, if your old battery needs replacement. Good luck with the new ride, !! C U down the road my friend !!
  20. Have you checked your Radiator Fluid level?? As above, give it a bath with WD-40 !!
  21. You know Bob, with your command of the English Language, you should write a " motorcycle " Service Manuel in " Old English " You could try to Sell them in the UK !!!
  22. Ok Dragon, I give up, how much do they want ??? And one more thing , where have you been , this is the first I have heard from you " on site " for a long long time ??? Been hanging out in the Dragon's cave, Eh !!! SO: Your having " Switch Problems Again" ???? I have Hundreds of Switches' but not that one
  23. First , make sure you are using Motorcycle Spec: Oil, ----- NOT Car Oil. ----- If so change it, and check for high speed slippage. Second: Replace the clutch actuator Fluid. Use DOT 4. ( do this every couple of years anyway ! ) Reminds me, I am due for fluid change myself. If still having trouble, then get SkyDoc's clutch upgrade, Or, get a " Barnett Aftermarket Clutch kit " ( Don't forget new gasket for clutch cover )
  24. Another take on this : An 06 with 23K on it. You probably have it paid for bye now. At 23K the bike is just barely Broken In !! Do you really want to spend another " About " 20K $$$$$$ Plus Tax, Plus whatever upgrades the new bike will need ?? For much less then the " sales tax " on a new bike, you can get a new set of Dunlops, a new Deka battery, and a tune up and oil change at a dealer, and your " Good to Go " for another 15 to 20K on the RSV !!!!! Hmmm ??? lets see, for what the Gold Wing Costs, you could buy the wife a new " Pick Up Truck " Ahheeem ( small one )
