I would try cracking the banjo while you have the clutch pulled in. Make sure you have a rag to wipe off what comes out. Youll get a puff of air and then fluid. Tighten down banjo and relieve pressure on clutch. See if this helps.

I would crack the banjo bolt slightly see if you get the air to pop out one of my Yamaha mechnic friends suggested I do.

That was good but what I meant is you really notice the noise when your behind it and its going away from you or passes you its not nearly as noticeable from the front. I rode in a group to Memphis with a diverse group Harleys, BMW's, Yamaha's. One particular gentleman had his beautiful new Ultra Classic that really rumbled. He liked to ride to the rear of the pack I was in front of him most of the time didnt really notice him,but a few times I rode behind him you really noticed him and it got old real fast with the loud noise and I noticed most of the other had the same opinion. I had to move up in the pack just got to annoying but in front of him it was fine.

Only time I notice loud pipes is riding behind them or after they pass me.

New Fork Brace
CrazyHorse replied to lonestarmedic's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I machined my brace to make it fit. I was not crazy about bending a fork trying to get the brace to fit. The original brace slid right in on mine didnt even touch the forks. I think the thickness of the brace and how deeply the screws set into the mounts is the true strength of the brace not touching the sides of the forks IMHO. I got lit up for it though but I can take the heat. -
I have to disagree classic look motorcycles were fueled by baby boomers looking for nostalgia. Most of the boomers that were going to buy a classic look probably have one by now and they ain't getting any younger. Your not going to see those big sales numbers return for the classic look. In coming years here used Harleys will be a dime a dozen. If Harley (what I mean is classic look) doesnt change they will be back where they were in the 80's almost dead leads to the Birth of the Goldwing/ Voyager/ Venture. I think your gonna see a change in motorcycle tastes with a decline in classic look sales its just time for the sun to set on that market. They had a good run but that market will be smaller in the near future. RSV sales are down I think you will see a GW type as the next bike to shake up the market.

Did you mean MPH instead of mpg? Warm weather better mpg yes, No ethanol better mpg yes,Slower riding speed better mpg yes, Tailwind Yes better mpg. My 90 speedo off by as much 6-10 mph depending on how fast, faster the worse its off. So I thought I was doing 65 mph in reality I was doing like 57mph getting like maybe 39-40 mpg that rate so I could see a guy thats speedo off who runs only 55 mph on speedo (in reality only going 48 mph) getting maybe high 40's. I dont see running 65-70+ mph (real speed) getting 50 mpg on these bikes. Not trying to offend anyone I.M.H.O. Now 2nd Gen's do have the second overdrive 5th gear but will that put you almost 10 mpg more then a 1 st Gen which is better aerodynamically, I doubt it.

If I remember right Honda wanted to give a sports bike agility and quickness to this version of the GW I'd say they've come close.

I'm not have to work unfortunately.

Maybe so thats just north of me.

But I prefer the V4 to the GW 6 cylinder at least it wont stick out the sides and interfere with the feet.

What was the one connector by the seat that needed to be hooked up on the left side of bike? Could that be the problem? -

Starting fluid is very flammable if you dont get a reaction from that I'd say its a spark issue of some sort. I dont think you can adjust timing on these if I remember right. Try a new set of iridium plugs. -
