Thanks Charlie and all, I will check out that MSF.Org, it will never hurt to learn more, but will hurt if you didn't learn. The truth behind an accident or close call I believe is reaction time and knowing what to do. I did not have time to think, just react. So, just like anything else in life, if you practice, it will be instinctive if something does happen. Thanks for everyones imput. Later-

Thanks all, when the bike wobled and I let off the brake, I instinctively gave it gas to straighten it out, which it did straighten out. But it wanted to fight me at first. It took All I could do to keep her upright. But, now that I think about it, was giving the bike more gas the right decision? or would just letting of the brake, and allow it to straight out itself be right? Heck, I didn't even have time to downshift, not sure why I didn't, I just held in the clutch. But I was watching the deer, we stared eye to eye at each other, sorta hairy feeling. Thought I was hitting that big doe for sure. Trying to learn from this experience, but it happened so fast there really wasn't time to think, just react. If there would have been several deer, and I would have held the brake for a few seconds more, it could have been a bad situation, the wobled or highside was that severe. Thanks for everyones imput. Thanks Jerry,Larry and Buddy. I agree Jerry this is not the bike to lock up, but I will now look into Rick Butler's proportioning valve. Yes Buddy, just reacted, held rear too long, thanks for the advise will use if this happens again. Thank goodness I was solo. With that thought, if riding two up, fully loaded would it have helped with the woble effect or made it worse? Later-

Hey, Had a few deer start to come out in the past, but they always hesitated when they heard the loudness of my Fishtail Pipes. A few weeks back I took off my Fishtail Pipes and put back on the stock pipes, wife like's the quiteness, but now.... Yesturday, riding thru heavy wooded area close to road, had a deer jump right out in front of me, did not see it, luckily at an angle going away from me. Going about 65mpr, I immediatly hit full breaks, Rear first, then split second, front. Keept the Handlebars straight forward but the Rear End came sideways a little 6-8" to the right. Still was going about 25-35 I'm guessing when the deer passed by, I left off the breaks, But the bike was already doing a woble side to side, like when you pulled the string on a spinning top. Thought I was going to loose it, had bike's do a little woble before when hitting small animals, but nothing this bad. With that much of a woble side to side, Is this Normal??? Later-

Hey All, I was on ebay looking at the various mono rear shocks for different makes and models. The price they want New and Used for a 2nd Gen Rear Shock is Crazy. Does anyone knows if a shock made for a different bike will fit a 2nd Gen??? Does the RSV shock have to be air assisted or will a standard shock work? Yes mine needs to be replaced, all oil has leaked out, still holds air, but not wanting to go to far, especially two up, with it that way. Thanks, Later-

Brad & Lonna, it will be sad to see you two leave our State. But I can truly understand why. I have been in and out of work for over three years now. Last good job ended in 06, since then been on jobs for only a few months and they stop work, not even long enough to draw Unenjoyment. Thank God, wife has consistent job, Walmart, Department Manager. But even with her $10. per hour does not pay the bills, so were with you brother. The only thing that has kept me in this State is our Children (now adults) Family & Friends. Wish you both the Best!!! Later-

Hey Brad & Lonna, Glad your trip went well other than the Trailer Insodent. At least you were able to see some Good People and spend some time having fun. Your new bike looks nice, very glad to see you riding again. Take Care, Later-

Hey All, over at a couple Harley Buds and we looked on the ground and the rear shock was leaking oil (and yes I was harrased, about how metrics leak oil). The rear end floats up and down like a bober when two up, especially over bumps. Question: Is the standard Rear Shock Rebuildable??? Thanks for your help, Later-

37 mpg is about normal to me. Some get 33 up to 45 mpg. My Normal two up on the RSV is about 35-40, single 38-43 depending on how much I get on it, wind, speed, etc. Out west trip last year we averaged 37.5 mpg. Yamaha's MPG on their motorcycles are low compaired to others. But your detuned vmax engine will run forever. So half dozen one for another compaired to money going out on repairs. Have Fun, Later-

Hey shmedly, Good Pictures, like the colors, almost same on both bikes, about the same colors I had on the V*1100. On the Harley you were just sitting there, on the TD you had a Big Grin, man is that a good sign, lol. In parking lots at slow speeds, the TD will take a wider turn ratio than the Harley, because the TD is a longer bike. When it came time for tire replacement I asked around, Squidley told me about the Avon Venom 130 Front Tire, it made a Tremedous Difference to me in slow speed turning and handling. Give it time to Break In, I know you want to try her out, but.... Anyways, have fun, Later-

Congrads on the RSV. Growing up with brothers and friends riding Harleys, I can relate. Still today on rides my friends will switch bikes, never once do I hear them tell me the RSV is better, some will even say they don't like it, but when I see the smile on their face when they are riding the RSV, I know which is the better bike. But like Dennis said, after you give a long break in period, let her whine out when you shift, she will really show you what the RSV is about. Have Fun, Later-

When I bought my RSV they already had the Wood Grain on it. Goes well with the colors of my bike. I did peal a little from backing, when we was caught in a monster rain storm of 6" in 10 minutes and 69 mpr winds in Vegas last year. That was fixable, I think it looks Great. Later-

right saddlebag stuck shut
Red Ryder replied to eagleeye's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Hey Steve, had the same thing happen to us last year on our trip out West. Way overloaded the bags. After Several attempts I was sure it would need to be drilled out. One last attempt I put pressure on the top of saddlebag with my knee and the wife applied pressure about where the latches are located, then by pushing the lid forward toward the bike, put in the key, locked and unlocked (while still applying pressure) and pushed in the button slowly and it released. Just what I did, may never work again, but hope it does for you. Later- -
Sorry to hear it man, understand, been laid off come two years in August. Just glad the wife still working. Funny thing, Unemployment doesn't count the numbers when you run out of it. Michigan is probably around 40%, because no jobs to replace the ones that shut down. Wish you all the best, hope you find work fast. Later-

Hey Dave, wife and I and another couple went last year. All I can say is wow, one of this worlds great sites to see, you are awed when you look out, no words to describe that beautiful view. Our 08 Vacation was 12 days from Northern Michigan thru various states, the Mountains of Colorado (Beautiful), to Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Hoover Dam, Vegas, to California, back to Route 66, visit Dad in TN, and on home. It was a spectacular trip. Wives took over 1000 pictures, some amazing sites. Dave, I truly appreciate you posting these pictures. Recommend that everyone goes to the Grand Canyon at least once in your life, you will stand there speechless in Amazement. Later-
