  1. Most tire slime is for low pressure tires. Google " ride on tire sealent", made for motorcycle tires. Cb
  2. I have a 1992 GMC Typhoon ( PLEASE google GMC TYPHOON ) before asking "WHATS A TYPHOON" with 120,000. The transmission cooler is inside the radiator and has leaked water/coolant into the trany. I am in the middle of changing the rad. and draining the trans fluid. I plan on dropping the trany pan and changing the filter, driving around for a few miles and the changing filter and fluid again. I plan on adding a can of Seafoam trany ( yes they make trany stuff) during both changes. IS MY TRANY SHOT FROM THE WATER/COOLENT OR CAN I SAVE IT ? Thanks for any help Cb
  3. I gutted my tape deck a few years ago. I found some padded air conditioning material that is sticky on one side and padded on the other for the inside. I put extra eye glasses in there but be care.... anything too small and you will pay heck getting it out. cb
  4. Mostly a VENTED half helmet but have other types. Cb
  5. Get a roll of BLUE painters tape and tape the top of the trunk. Place the rack on the trunk and mark the holes.... measure everything before drilling. I used a little weather sealer around the holes to stop any water from leaking in. Cb

    New bike

My 2nd bike is a kaw, Versys. Same idea as your 700. I've had it 2 years and enjoy the lighter weight. Here in Northern Arkansas there are a lot of fire/hard packed roads that I would never take the Venture down. I hope to do a little adventure touring this summer. Cb
  7. Six weeks ago I dropped my bike in my drive way because my whole got real week and I couldn't stop the bike from falling over. I blew out my back trying to pick it up and friends came over and helped me get it back into the workshop. I went to the doctor Monday and this afternoon I am going for a brain scan ?????? I don't really KNOW what a brain scan is..... I just hope there is some brain still there !!!! Cb
  8. I have been watching him for years. I give his DVDs to friends for Christmas. Cb
  9. This is were I live. About 1 hour east of harrison which was memtioned before. I have lived here 7 years with about 40,000 of back road riding. M/H is in the middle between Little Rock and Springfield Mo. Most everything east of L/R is very flat. Between Memphis and l/r it is very flat BUT go northwest from Memphis and the roads get better. take a very good look at google maps of this whole area and you will see very few main highways and NO expressways . When you look at main route numbers remember.... everyone from 18 wheelers to " grandma going to the store" will be using the same road. Backroads...they are 35-40 mile an hour with great views and the roads are mostly in great conditiont. BUT are old and not very wide. If you take back roads expect to travel 35-40 miles in a hour. This is mostly farm country so expect tractors to be on the roads. If you are back roads GET GAS before need it. Alot of these small towns are gone. Nothing but a few houses and NO GAS. If you fish... M/H was listed By Field and stream a few years ago as being one of the top ten in the country. 2 lakes and 2 rivers where listed. There is a road about 7 miles from here that most bikers ride, it's called the "pigs Tail" The road is called push Mountain road right outside Norfork Ar. Route 341 south of Norfork. I have a full work shop and a cycle trailer if you need help. I am going to stop now because my coffe cup is empty. Anyone who reads this can contact for more information Cb
  10. I purchased a set of harley pipes from someone on the forum a few years ago. I did not rejet the bike and found not problems. My bike is lowered and the pipes dragged sometimes because the are bigger. they do have a very nice throaty ? sound. A friend purchased a Venture last year with straight pipes and he really like the sound of the Harley pipes so I sold them to him and put the stock pipes back on. Cb
  11. I have a 2005 Midnight and except some chrome I THINK the only real way to tell if it is a " MIDNIGHT" model is the seats have chrome buttons on the sides. That being said the seats could always have been changed. Cb
  12. I also have a Go pro. Someone on Ebay sell a complete set of accessiores ? for the camera. I put the helmet mount on a second helmet , try not to use a bike/handlebar as it viberates the camera a lot. Watch some Youtube where the cameras are mounted on helmets or handlebars and make your own choice. Cb
  13. I had a 2004 BMW Rt. My problem was that I have a 28 inch inseam and after dropping it twice due to uneven ground I sold it. It will have All the bells and whistles you could ever want. Check into them, I would not be worried about a high miles bike as they are as well made as our Ventures. If I could really lower a BMW to meet my needs I would get another one. Cb
  14. My 2005 Midnight has chrome studs along the seat, not sure if that's on midnights only ? Cb
  15. If you should ever need to take off your fairing off you will need a 3 mm and check the allen bolt under the headlight.... I thinks it's a 5 mm. Do not get real long wrenchs as they will hit the clutch and brake levers. If you can find a chrome set get them, they are easier in find in the dark if you drop it ??? Cb
  16. If want to save some money on liner bags measure the saddle bags and the go to stores ( Dollar Store/cheap stores) and look at kids packpacks. they are cheap and you have a backpack when you go traveling. cb
  17. I have a well insulated 1600 sq ft shop. I use 2 halogin work lights when I do projects in the shop. One in front and one in back of my project. They are are the kind with 2 large hal. lights and the stands go up and down depending on what I am doing. Lowes/home depot type. It keeps the area warm and sure lights up the project. cb
  18. thank you all for your input. I do live 2 hours from Herber Springs so I will start there. Thanks everyone Cb
  19. I dropped my bike in my driveway and blew out a disc in my back trying to pick it up. Been in bed for ten days now. I am 61 and live with a few disabities... 4 bad back disc , 5 right shoulder operation and 2 knee. I am heathy .. just broken. I have watched " who to pick up your bike " on YOUTUBE and now see I did everything wrong. That is not my question.... somewhere on the forum I THINK I read if you trike a Venture there is now a "reverse kit" ???? If I can not get "reverse" I am going to have to sell and think about a Goldwing trike. I have no problem with getting a Goldwing but it would be cheaper if I could trike my Venture. I like my venture for it's stlying and dependability . Any information would be nice thank you Cb
  20. I few years ago I wanted something lighter to ride and found the there was a group called "adventure bikes" BMW started then a while ago but KAW. and Honda have both made modles. I got a Kaw. Versys. 650 cc about 550 lbs. The bike has sold great everywhere but the U.S. Take some time and check out the bike on YOUTUBE. It's NOT an off road bike but works for street and logging/dirt roads.
  21. Has anyone used the Garmin trip card for a Zumo 550 ? Opinions ? cb
  22. I get a gallon for about $46 a gallon at farm and feed stores, us in my boats and eveything i own, cb
  23. There really nothing wrong and it runs okay. It is just after 7 years my bike has never been to the shop. I do work on my bike... changed brake fluid, installed Ipod and sat. system, removed the castt. player, lowered the bike, oil changes, changed the exhaust a couple of times, air filters. Thank you for offering to help.... I was just wondering if after 7 years it should go to the dealer ? Cb
  24. I have a 2005 Venture with 8500 miles and plan on taking it to the dealers for a service. I have changed the oil and brake fluid. The bike runs ok but of course you get used to things and don't notice little problems. What should I have the dealer look at or service ? Thank you in advance Cb Mountain Home Arkansas.
