  1. Well my stay in Florida has come to an end. We are leaving about 5am Wed. morning. Gonna take the tollroad from Boynton Beach to I-75 into Georgia then jumping on I-24 in TN and into Ky and making a stop in Morganfield to see some family then on to St. Louis then Kansas City then hopping on I-29 into Iowa and into Nebraska on I-80 then to Cheyenne and home to Ft. Collins, Colorado. We have decided that after the wifey has her hip replacement on the 21st and gets all healed up that we are moving to FL to live near her family. Wifey gets the stent out of her kidney on Tuesday...what a road warrior she is. I have posted a few pics at www.tattootate.50megs.com under the "Florida Trip" link and will post more when I get home.
  2. Have posted some quick stuff about our trip. We are still in Boynton Beach, Florida and will be leaving for home (Ft. Collins, Colorado) early Wednesday morning. Check it put if ya wanna at http://www.tattootate.50megs.com/index.html. Then click on the "Florida Trip" link on the left. Later

    Im here

Im stoked...getting ready to go to the beach. Lonna.....Mom is doing good and says hi. The stint in her kidney gave her some problems on the way here but she is a complete animal. I couldnt have done it. ill post pics soon. She took some good ones from the bike while we were marching down the hiway. I really like Mississippi and I liked Arkansas too. BEAUTIFUL country. Once we hit Florida I was hoping it was going to be just a few more hours to get to her mom's house....WRONG. Holy God the trip thru FL seemed like it took forever. Came in on I-10 from Alabama to I-75 to the Turnpike and all the way thru the turnpike to exit 86. THAT took forever...............Stay tuned.

    Im here

we made it to Florida. We rode thru Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee Mississippi, Alabama and southern Florida. Im just north of Miami in a place called Boynton Beach. 2358 miles in 3 days. Ride was fun. was cold running thru eastern Colorado at 2 am! Hot as hell in Oklahoma. Got lucky and missed the rain in Fl. People here on the turnpike drive completely suicidal!!! First day we made it from Ft. Collins, CO to Blackwell, OK. Second day we made it to Jackson MS and day 3 we made it all the way to Boynton Beach, FL. Tomorrow I get to see the ocean for the first time and go on "thong patrol"! Later:thumbsup:
  5. I am headed to Boynton Beach. Hope to be there around Wednesday. And yes I will be packing water. Got me a 1/2 gallon insulated jug that I will have in my pack. Fed Ex'd all the goofy stuff that I wont need on the road but will need while we are there. Lighten the load a bit. Gonna watch the radar patterns for the weather...being that we had 6 tornadoes along my outward bound route yesterday....soon as I see a good window..Baddabom baddabing...we're gone.
  6. Well me and the Mrs. are finally making our ride to Florida. We are leaving this Saturday night-June 28th or very early Sunday morning (like 2 am). Had to do some re routing because of the flooding in the midwest. Still couldnt find any maps of the flood area so we just decided to play it safe. Now instead of running I-70 thru St. Louis then running down I-24 to I-75 to the Turnpike we are turning off I-70 at Salina KS, to OKC then I-40 to Memphis, then I-55 to the Gulf coast then to Florida. Bike is all set...rejetting for sea level today, new tires blah blah blah. Wifey as always is proving what a bad ass she is. Yesterday she got a stint put in her kidney (because it almost shut down due to the major meds they put her on for her hip) and shes gonna make the ride with it. 2300 miles each way. Then on the 21st of July she has hip replacement! I couldn't do it.....I get a splinter and want my mommy. Anyway, I would love to stick to my original route so if anyone has any info about the roads from..lets say..I-70 east from Columbia Mo thru STL and then out to Mt. Vernon on I-64 and i-57 to I-24 thru TN Would be helpful. If not....no biggie. Will peek in when I get to Florida...planning on about 3 days road time. Colorado folks can read about it in upcoming issues of Thunder Roads Magazine. My pen name on there is "The Viking"....I will be in and out for the next day or so..so maybe I will get a chance to talk to some of ya before we leave.
  7. Many folks around here consider it the start of the so called riding season when they clear this road.....personally I ride al year round as long as the roads are safe...But they are still clearing the snow around here. SOme of yu actually rode this road when you were he last summer. http://www.reporterherald.com/news_story.asp?ID=16735
  8. What else is cool is that now my trip to Florida that I was planning will become a tax wrtie off...I leave for FLA in 30 days....got a little lucky on the timing HAHHAHHA
  9. Someone very near and dear to your hearts.....that would be me:whistling:...LOL Just scored a "job" writing for Thunder Road Magazine. The main focus of my "job" will be to ride around and write about it. Kinda like Rip from EasyRiders. I will keep ya posted
  10. Its ALMOST riding season here...ya gotta love Colorado. http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/16155547/detail.html
  11. So called Tornado alley sure has been busy already this year....Im watching it very closely because I have to run right thru the heart of it at the beginning of "tornado season" in June. Once in the pitch dark.........should be fun
  12. Just popping in to let people know Im not dead, or locked up or anything. Just busy busy. Ride hard, have fun and stay safe.
  13. I Cut the rear arm off mine , about an inch behind the pivot. I hated it. There wasnt enuff room for me to rest my foot on the board with the heel toe. But I also wear a size 13 EE boot. I guess them people that build them bikes never factored that in LOL
  14. All my stuff is mint. Except one of my Hasek autos...its got a bit of a tear in it. But not bad. I got all kindsa stuff. Everything from old timers Richard, Lindsey, Gump Worsley, Boom boom Gefferion, Brian Trottier,Bernie parent, Dave the hammer shultz, Grant Fuhr, Gretzky, Kurri, Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe to some of the more recent....Roy, Sakic, Selanne, Brett Hull, Mike Keane, Chris Drury, I even got a Roy Sakic and Claude Lemuiex pic with them all holding the Conn Smythe...being that all 3 won it...and its signed by all 3. I got silver collecter coins of Forsberg and Roy I got Die cut icon cards of Gretzky that were worth $200 when I pulled 'em outta the pack 10 years ago. all in mint condition. I even got a neon miller lite Avalanche goalie stick from the first years of the Avs and the only year Miller was their sponsor. The list goes on and on.....Forsbergs rookie....Kurris rookie....a card they made for Gretzky when he was 15 .....and about 1000 others LOL:)
  15. Anyone here besides me? The reason I ask is because I have a ton of autographed hockey stuff that I think Im finally going to turn loose of. Rocket Richard, Gretzky, Roy, Sakic, Forsberg, Bobby Hull ect.....hit me up if interested.
  16. You have winter in Georgia?....What, does it drop to a bone chilling 50 degrees???????? Thanks for your input.
  17. That got yer attention:rotf:. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has used beaded seat covers on their bikes? If so could ya gimme a rundown on what ya think about them. Thanks
  18. The place I get my tires from doesnt charge me anything.....just as long as I buy from them. But I have been dealing with them for years and years.
  19. Few years back I was motoring along on my old chop Thru some fairly heavy rush hour traffic. I guess fortunately for me the stereotype of a heavily tattooed longhair riding a very loud chopper with aprhangers kept people at a bit of a distance, The fortune part of that was that whilest I was moving along and minding my own business..scaring old ladies and deafening people:whistling: A wasp decided that my armpit looked like a nice place to die, because as soon as it started stinging the snot outta me I qucikly smashed the guts outta it with my other hand. That caused a bit of a wobble . So I pulled over to see what the hell happened and thats when I found a smashed up wasp in my armpit. Lemme tell ya something...That HURTS * OK another quick bug story. Come to think of it I was on the same bike and pretty close to the same area. Again just toolin' along minding my own business with my soon to be wife on the back. I just saw it for a split second. Maybe less. A streak of black, headed right at me from about a 45 degree from the right. No time to move. POW! right under my bottom lip. I tasted guts. Kinda crunchy. Spit it out and kept going. Mom asked if I was ok as she never saw the bug she just saw my head snap back like someone smacked me. Well when we get to the house she looks at me and says "WTF?" This beetle was still stuck INSIDE my chin. Well half of it anyway. Over the course of the next 2 days we spent alot of time with the tweezers digging this little sucker out. I'll spare ya the gross details of the minor infection I got from it LOL
  20. After reading a thread on here and thinking about my own close calls....Im sure we have all had them. I got to thinking about some of the strange ones. One time while on my '83 I was motoring along at about 45-50 mph and a friggin' bird flew between me and the windshield. Another time while living up in the mountains on my way home at about 11pm a deer ran out from the side of the road and just past me. He was so close that I could hear his hooves hitting the pavement behind me...over the sound of the motor and the Judas Priest blaring from the radio. That was kinda spooky. And just yesterday while out exploring some of the back roads a truck in front of me appearantly hit a 2x4 that bounced up from under the truck, slammed back down to the road then proceded to explode like a granade, sending bits of wooden "shrapnel" everywhere. Thank goodness for my windshield. I got a few others that I might share later. LOL like a wasp stinging me in the armpit in rush hour LOL that was kinda different! What you got?
  21. Or maybe I should have said wine collectors....I have some limited edition merlots from 2001 and 2003 that are about ready to sell. They are from the Marilyn Merlot line. Mint condtion bottles and labels and the wine has been properly cared for and rotated to prevent sediment.
  22. Really REALLY like the looks of the Nomad. Side loading bags suck! ALOT. Had them on my old Venture. The 2nd Gen Ventures seem a bit cramped for me. But I got lots of friends that love their 2nd generations. And I dont blame them. I was in the unique position this summer when I was bike shopping.....money wasnt really an object.....that RARELY happens. So I found myself looking back and forth...Venture-Nomad, Venture-Nomad. It was an EZ choice. I bought a Roadstar Midnight!
  23. Gettin a bit windy....wont be any worse than the wind I got caught in last week in Laramie.
  24. FINALLY! FINALLY I get to be the one to say...Not a cloud in the sky here! Im kinda likin' that. Especially after the past 2 months of snow and cold!
  25. Say Leland...come on up and we'll make that ride! In the summer! LOL
