    #1 Song ...

Man some of you farts are OOOOOOOOOOOOLD! Mine is The Ballad of the Green Berets" by S/Sgt. Barry Sadler
  2. Figured this would be a little different and might prove to provide some laughs. What song is the absolute worst of all time? Im voting anything by Barry Manilow, Rod Stewart, Neil Sedaka or the Spice Girls. But i said one song.....soooooooo I dunno there are so many that really suck! Achey Breaky Heart? The Macharania? I wanna punch my radio out when I hear them. Im going with.....an old 70's song.....Seasons in the Sun! ACK! No Wait....That stupid song Barney used to sing...I love you you love me. HOLY SMOKE
  3. Whats up brother Dan! Mom says hi. Yeah...the ride was friggin COLD. sucked! HAHAHAHA. The new bike ran awesome tho.
  4. OK, Im usually prepared when I go riding. Here in Colorado between Late Sept. and May ya never know what type of weather you are going to run into. Yesterday every bike in Colorado was out being that it was 70 degrees! Pretty awesome considering it was March 1st. Me and the Mrs. are gonna get some miles but she is fiddle fartin around , taking forever to get ready http://www.mygreatrides.com/images/emoticons/rolleyes.gif . So I rush her out the door and we actually discussed if we should pack some extra gear. By now Im chompin at the bit...LETS JUST GET GOING!!!! Soooo..we have on t-shirts and hoodies jeans and chaps and the obligatory fingerless gloves and do rags. We decide that we are gonna make a run to Larimie Wyoming. Cool I say -Lets roll. Riding thru Ft. Collins was great...hit highway 14 toward Poudre Canyon, still rompin and a stompin. Open country almost no traffic. AWESOME. On 287 nearing Virginiadale the wind starts to pick up and within minutes we are actually fighting to keep the bike on the road. This wind is getting colder. And colder. We decide to ride it out hoping to catch a break and the wind will die out. Bad idea http://www.mygreatrides.com/images/emoticons/doubt.gif . Now we are like 50 miles out and the wind is absolutely ripping and bring more cold air as it blows across the snow covered mountains just a few miles to our west. I cant feel the left sided of my face, my hands are freezing and sore from the wind and the death grip I have on the handlebars keeping the bike upright. And now we are both shivering. This really isnt any fun. So after what seems like an eternity we FINALLY roll into Larime and pull into the first gas station we see to try to hide from the weather for a bit. When we stopped the bike we could hear the wind...it sounded like a freight train overhead. We did catch a bit of a break.....the gas station had stocking hats and gloves for sale. SO we decide to gas up and make a run for I-80 toward Cheyenne since the wind is blowing west to east it would be at our backs. So we put on our new "gear" and I pull my facemask out of my bags and we head for I-80. But still we only have the shirts and hoodies on. On I-80 we find that the wind still hates us http://www.mygreatrides.com/images/emoticons/evil.gif . For some reason it is now blowing south to north. Its not long before we are both shivering again. But now there is even a better surprise waiting for us. About 20 miles outsdie of Larime the wind had blown the snow and melting snow across the road. Ever see ice and snow coming up in the road...you are doing 70 mph and there are 18 wheelers all around ya. http://www.mygreatrides.com/images/emoticons/shock.gif . Anyway about 15 miles west of Cheyenne we finally get the wind blowing at our backs and the air starts to warm up.SO we hit I-25 headed back to Ft. Collins and just open 'er up. Running at about 90mph. I just wanna go home. Leason re learned.
  5. I drilled two holes in thru the floorboard and ran the bolts thru them. It was EZ, I just popped the rubber mat off the board, had my son hold the brackets in place till if found the "sweet spot" then had him mark the bottom of the floorboard where I wanted it. Then I drilled the holes in the brackets and held the bracket back up to where he had marked it and marked holes on the boards (using the brackets as a "template") that lined up with the holes in the brackets. Ran the bolts thru and secured them with washers and nylock nuts
  6. Heres something I whipped up in no time...Heavy guage Lbrackets cut to fit. Drilled holes in the floorboard to mout them > They sit high enuff that Im not gonna ding then in the corners. The work awesome. Bought the L brackets at Ace for a few buck. AND NO the pegs are not on upsidedown. (I have heard that comment before). The female end of the prg and the male and of the mount came from different set up so I had to basicly pound the peg onto the mount. The pegs is a solid fit and doesnt flip up or down. I just decided that I didnt want to see the joint so I put the shiney side up! Now that I know that the set up works well I am pulling the brackets I made off and painting them black...along with the custom mounts I made for the diamond plate lower delfectors Im putting on this weekend.
  7. I have a $10 fix ( if you already have pegs) if you want something like this....AND you wont hit em in the twisties!. Lemme know...I got pics of what I did on my bike.
  8. my '83 seemed to like the low to mid 70's and would pull about 42-44 mpg. Im riding a 1700cc Roadstar now and it purrs along at 75-85 mph nice and comfy and pulls around 40-42 mpg. But with 1700 cc i dont wanna hammer it too hard cuz ya KNOW it will suck the fuel!

    my trip

OK like some of us had discussed a day or so back...I started a page for folks to keep track of where I am and what Im doing and that Im still riding safe etc....some folks here was interested , some folks at work, my mom lol just so that ya have it....im sure I will post it again as the time gets closer. http://community.webshots.com/user/tateandmarlene
  11. Ya know what...as long as you have treated them with respect and not been as ass....you might have people on your side you dont even know about. As long as you as a Co remember that you are just there as a job....its not your life, like the inamtes. Remember that you get to go home every night, the inmates ARE home. Try to push your weight...you wil get stuck, you know that. Like we used to say..."act like a man, get treated like a man" Guess which side of the door I was on LOL......AB
  12. Ok sounds like with my folks and the peeps at work and some folks here that I will go ahead and do it. I'll post more abouth the trip later. I will more than likely ask a few questions from some of the folks who live in the areas Im going to for some travel advice too. Right now the trip sounds like we are going from here thru KS, MO, IL, KY, TN, GA FL,and back thru FL, AL, MS, LA, AR, TX, OK, KS and back to CO
  13. As some of you know this summer I am making a trip from my home in Ft. Collins, Colorado to Boynton Beach ,Fl. Besides my mother worrying about me ( ya know how moms are) and wanting me to keep in contact with her, a few folks at work suggested that I should have like an "online posting" of some sort. A- to let people know where we are and the we are alright and B- to relay some of the cool stuff we might see or do or whatever. Kind of a running documentary. Would anyone be interested in follwing something like that? Goofy question I know but ya never know unless ya ask, I guess.
  14. If the foot position is the issue. What I did on my bike was I took the boards off the mounts, flipped the mounts over and installed them. Put the borads back on. Bang! The boards are forward and lower. Mrs. Pitbull LOVES it. Said it lets her rest more comfy.
  15. Temps really dont have anything to do with it. If wanna ride then Im GONNA ride. This pic was taken a few weeks ago. was about 20 degrees out. As long as the roads themselves arent a hazard. Im OUT.
  16. I was flat bundled up bro. Longsleeve shirt. hunting hoodie, flight jackets, bandana, knit beanie, facemask, hunting socks ect.....felt like the friggin Pillsbury dough boy but it was worth it!
  17. I have to agree with ya. Most of the time..and its kinda funny...people back away from me where ever Im at because of the perseption of what and who they think I am. Dont get me wrong....I will throw down with the best of them but when Im touring I do Keep a nasty blade tucked up underneath the bags......ya just never know. I figure that if Im gonna get into a scrape then most likely it will be a straight up street fight, bring it on. But if yer gonna try to rob me or something yer gonna get shanked.
  18. 15 degrees out but I HAD to go. Hadnt been out in almost 3 weeks!
  19. Had to post this....found in a bit interesting. I just copied a portion of it. It might even be good for us! The Saudis are boycotting American goods. We should return the favor. An interesting thought is to boycott their GAS. Every time you fill up the car, you can avoid putting more money into the co ffers of Saudi Arabia Just buy from gas companies that don't import their oil from the Saudis. Nothing is m ore frustratingthan the feeling that every time I fill-up the tank, I am sending my money to people who are trying to kill me, my family, and my friends. I thought it might be interesting for you to know which oil companies are the best to buy gas from and which major companies import Middle Eastern oil. These companies import Middle Eastern oil : Shell.......................... 205,742,000 barrels Chevron/Texaco......... 144,332,000 barrels Exxon /Mobil............... 130,082,000 barrels Marathon/Speedway... 117,740,000 barrels Amoco............................62,231,000 barrels Citgo......................from South America , from a Dictator who hates Americans If you do the math at $30/barrel, these imports amount to over $18 BILLION! (oil is now $90-$95 a barrel) Here are some large com panies that DO NOT import Middle Eastern oil: Sunoco...................0 barrels Conoco..................0 barrels Sinclair.................0 barrels BP/Phillips............0 barrels Hess.......................0 barrels ARC0....................0 barrels All of this information is available from the Department of Energy and each is required to state where they get their oil and how much they are importing. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers. It's really simple to do.
  20. Hey...how do you like that tour tank. I have been thinking about buying one. Heres a shot of my ride.....2004 Roadstar Midnight And my 83 Venture that I just sold..... Theres more stuff about my bike at http://www.tattootate.50megs.com/index.html
  21. You know I will let ya buy me coffee Ron LMAO. Thanks for the kind word guys....Hey as my trip comes closer Im gonna ask some folks about some cities Im gona go thru. Stuff like.....Is there a place in ST. Louis that I SHOULD NOT be in. Or places along the way I should see.........or avoid.....places notorious for be bike unfriendly....ect.....
  22. Nope......sold the 1st Gen. The travel bag I got at a place out here called Fort Collins motorsports. Im gonna put it to use this summer. I am making a trip to florida. The trip will take me from Colorado thru Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida then back thru Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, back into Kansas and back home to Colorado.
  23. http://www.tattootate.50megs.com/index.html A quick site I have built showing my new bike and the mods I have made to it.
  24. If your dash is a bit loose it will also make an gog aweful noise when you hit a bump. I ended up putting a piece of foam under each corner of the dash. Quieted it right up.
