  1. I have belonged to this site for a few years now and have met many of you and have long conversations with lots of others. So I value and respect the opinion of lots of you guys....heres my question....I am thinking about getting a 1994 Goldwing...can get it fairly cheap. Any experience with this year? I know the wing is a good bike but some years have their issues? Any input?....Im looking at it because we are going to be doing alot more distance riding. I know all about the Venture..like I said, I have been here for years. I have even rode some other members bikes....but there are no deals on Ventures around here.Im looking at a wing. Something? Anything?
  2. Well I didnt get any snow yet....yet. But I am under a flood watch since its been raining for a day and a half. Flood possible until Sunday. Trail Ridge Rd is closed cuz they got 6 inches of snow.. Thats less than 1/2 hr from my house. I friggin hate snow. And yes I am really moving to FL. Boynton Beach to be exact. Have some family there and I have a job there waiting for me.Spent some time there this summer on my cross country trip. Im all about getting the hell outta the snow. Makes my bones hurt and now that wifey has had hip replacement shes gonna hurt as well......time to get gone. Leaving next June I think. Just gotta tie up loose ends here.
  3. Weather forcast says we just might get some snow! NNNOOOOOOOOO!!!! Now ask me why Im moving to Florida!
  4. I have an upperdeck hockey heros Auto'd Gordie Howe could get the card number if ya want, I would just have to pop it out of the frame I have it in and I have an 8X10 Bobby Hull after a fight pic the he autographed personally for me about 10 years ago. I have a lot of old school hockey stuff. Even got a 1983 Oilers/ Jets program with tons of atuographs...missing of course Gretzky and Grant Fuhr. But its got kurri, Messier and the lot. Also got "Tiger" Williams. Most penalty minutes in a season ever.. LOL Like 475 minutes.

  6. No my brother. Im off to Florida. Wont be till next year, Im thinking June , maybe. We got a place to stay when we get there and my job will transfer me anywhere they have an outlet. Just so happens that there is one just a few blocks from wify's mom's. Her mom had been begging us to come stay with her for a few years. As the years roll on I find I dont deal with the snow and cold as well. Now that wifey has osteoaurthritis (sp?) and a new hip she will hurt just as bad as me when it snows. Damn we are sounding old. ANyway..we are headed to souhern Florida. Im just taking the basics and we are gonna pull a whole new start. We are gonna rent a POD and just take what we want. Im gonna sell or give away everything else. So when we go we are gonna turn it into an extended roadtrip and ride around the country for a week or two before we head to Boynton Beach.
  7. Like Mike Bossy's rookie card???????? LOL I have other Islanders stuff but not alot. Nothing auto'd I dont think. I would have to do some digging. Think I got some Denis Potvin stuff too.
  8. Yeah yeah, I know its not motorcycle related. I figured I would give any puckheads here a shot a some of this stuff before I EBAY it or whatever I decide to do with it. I am going to move to Florida and am gonna sell of a bunch of stuff I dont wanna drag along with me. If anyone is interested I have tons of autographed hockey pics and cards that I have collected over the years. Some of the stuff I have is: Gordie Howe, Wayne Gretzky (this is framed 8x10 with a die cut icon card included and a stat sheet), Rocket Richard, Terrible Ted Lindsey, Grant Fuhr, Bobby Hull, Brett Hull, Forsberg, Sakic, John Leclair. A Roy Sakic and Lemieux holding the Conn Smythe, Gump Worsley, Boom Boom Geoffrion, Bernie Parent, Mark Mesier, Tony Twist, Dominik Hasek...blah blah blah. Tons of stuff including a 1 year only promotional goalie stick ( a real stick not some cheap plasitc knock off) with the AVS logo and Miller Lite ( Coors Light became the sponsor the second year and still is) and thousands of cards. If you are interested hit me up. Looking for something in particular...I might have it. Can send pics of things you are interested in.
  9. The seating is definatley an important issue for me. The rear looked comfy but ya just cant tell unless ya plunk yer butt down on one. was it awkward for her to get off and on? Wifey just had hip replacement and she needs something a bit easier to get on and off when she gets all healed up.
  10. Thats totally cool. Folks wanna use them, more power to ya. Is it really being "lost". I always called it "The Scenic Route" LOL
  11. Had a strange looking bike pass me the other day on the road. I think the looks are what got my attention. Looked like a cross between a Venture and a spaceship. I thought it was cool. Turns out after i did some internet searchng that it was Victory Vision Tour. Anyone here ever had any experience with one of these? Im fixing to maybe run down to a local stealership and give it the once over.
  12. You are just jealous because I can actually read a mapbook.
  13. No they dont work. Well...depends on your outlook, example, we hit a deer with our van. The deer actually hit the deer whistle.
  14. Wifey...AKA MOM...is doing very well. Had her up and cruising around outside yesterday with her walker...she hates that thing LOL. Wont be long and I will be struggling to keep up with her. She cant wait to ditch the walker and start walking normal. She has plans ...and tickets...to go see Lewis Black on the 21st of next month way out in Denver so we will see how that goes. But she is doing good....which makes me happy cuz she aint as grouchy! The rest of the pics from our trip are up. http://community.webshots.com/user/tateandmarlene/profile?vhost=community and click on the ALBUMS tab...might take a second or two to load...Look for the FLORIDA TRIP album...or cruise thru the others of ya like. Got some good pics of wifey and her walker but she told me if I post 'em Im a dead man LOL
  15. Well.ya know......I got this cool thing called A MAPBOOK (ever hear of one?). Never let me down yet. Didnt pay no $350 or $500 or whatever. Paid a whopping $8.99:mo money:. Used it to go cross country and back. No issues with charging or vibration. Just a good old school mapbook.
  16. Well wifey had her hip replacement yesterday. Doc said everthing looks real good. So far she isnt in too much pain....so far. Today they are gonna get her up and walking. Guess we will see how that goes. The staff where she is at has been great. The only thing she was worried about was that she had to have a spinal. She said it wasnt too bad. But shes an animal..."Not too bad" for her would drop most folks. LOL. I stayed the night with her and just ran home to shower and feed the dogs. Now I gotta strap the walker ( which she doesnt like HAHHA) to the back of the bike and motor back to the Orthapedic center where she is. I will keep ya posted.
  17. I have an 04 Roadie 1700. I love it. Plenty of power and manuverable. 80 MPH is effortless for the motor, even riding 2 up and fully loaded. I did build a drivers backrest for it and made a few mods to suit my taste. We just took it from Colorado to florida and back and it ran awesome. BUT I think Im gonna redo the seats. LOVE MY ROADIE! The only downfall is im not real thrilled with the placement of the speedo. And at cruising speed the needle sits right across the clock and the odometer...kinda hard to read. Other than that its a great bike.
  18. Ok...the story is pretty much finished now. Its pretty much what I am going to turn in to the my editor at Thunder Roads. Hopefully they wont chop it up too much. I dont think they will because they were talking about running it in a "series" type of format. Guess we will see. I posted a few more pics on my picture site ( which you will find links to on the story page). Hopefully my card reader shows up sometime today so I can get the rest of the pics off my camera. I might be able to do that tonight but Im not sure. Today is the big day. "MOM" is having her hip replaced so I dont know if I will get to it or not. Just a reminder the story is on the link in my signature-www.tattootate.50megs.com
  19. Mom is doing good. She goes in for her replacement tomorrow ( Monday the 21st). She seems to be doing well today. We rode about 100 miles or so just so she could get a "last" ride in for the year. Im betting she will heal up fast and get some riding time in before christmas. Kidney is better soince she got the stent out. Im getting ready to finish my story. Hopefully it will be done sometime tonight. Thanks for asking about her. She wa shocked that you asked. Thank you:hurts:
  20. I am working on a story about our trip to Florida for the magazine I write for. I have posted quite a bit of it and am almost finshed. If you are completely bored to death and want to check it out you can got to the "tattootate.50megs.com link in my signature and look for the Florida Story link on the left. Might be a few typos...I havent got a chance to edit it yet. Been kinda busy trying to catch up on all the stuff from our triip and getting wifey AKA MOM ready for her surgery. There is an online link to the magazine if anyone is interested...http://www.thundercolorado.com My stuff is written under the name The Viking. Ride Safe
  21. Hope ya heal up quick. Wifey's riding season is over on Monday. She is having a total hip replacement.
  22. I posted some of the pics from our trip from Colorado to Florida. Am waitng for my card reader to show up ( shipped it and a ton of other stuff back from Florida) so I can download the other zillion pics that wify took. But theres a few for now. http://community.webshots.com/user/tateandmarlene
  23. Made it in last nite all safe and sound. All things being equal I would rather be on the road! Pulled an 800+ mile ride yesterday to get home. All said and done the trip was just over 4600 miles and we rode thru Colorado , Kansas , Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee , Mississippi, Alabama, Florida (where we stayed for a week), Georgia, Tenessee again, Kentucky (where we stayed for 2 days), Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, back thru Kansas and Colorado. We started in Ft. Collins, Co and spent the first nite in Blackwell, OK then made it to Jackson, MS the next day and from Jackson we made it to Boynton Beach, FL. Hung out on the beach for a week or so then boogied from Boynton Beach, FL to Perry, Georgia where we grabbed a pizza and a room. The next day we made it to Morganfield, KY and spend 2 days there. When we left there we pulled a short day because of some nasty rain and ended up in Sweet Springs, MO at Betty's Truckstop/Motel...you guys should take care to avoid this place because it SUCKS. I repeat Bettys Truckstop/Motel at exit 74 on I-70 in Missouri SUCKS steer clear of it. Anyway from there we made it to Ft. Collins the next day. Will post some pics soon.
  24. Thanks about the heads up on 75. I have heard lots about the drivers there. Im planning on spending the night just south of ATL and hitting it early in the morning hopefully less folks out then. Im in no hurry to get home. Did 2358 miles in 3 days to get here so Im gonna take my time going home. This trip has been fun. Seriously thinking about moving here. We are racking up the states too. All said and done this trip should take us into: Colorado,Kansas,Oklahoma,Arkansas,Tennessee 2x, Mississippi, Alabama,Florida, Georgia,Kentucky,Indianda, Illinois, Missouri,Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming and back to Colorado The pics are Hwy 49 just outside of Hattiesburg, MS and the other is a sunrise near Hays, Kansas
