OK folks..I have done this before and we've always picked up some new members. I don't know how many out there don't know about us by now but it has been a long time since I did this so decided to run it again. We'll see what happens. It's NOT about selling patches, just a way to help get the word out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300213514213

I wonder how many millions they are asking for it?

Yes, those instructions are good and it's not that big of a job. The hardest part is splitting the fairing if you have never done it before. Even that is not very difficult. Take your time and you'll do fine.

Most software has the capability. The problem is that some site builders just don't take the time to do it. Anytime you create icons, graphics, etc. and use them for links there is a box in the creation process called "alternate text". If you don't take the time to fill it out, the images will work fine but there is no text to show. Thanks. I've tried to make it as easy as possible for us. There are still some things that are a bit confusing to new users. Picture resizing and etc. The software DOES have automatic picture resizing built in but it is not perfect. If the pictures are WAY BIG, it will time out and fail. This is good software as purchased but I have done a lot of customization on it. That gives us a lot of nice features but the downside is that when it comes time to upgrade, it makes it a very time consuming task. If I just left it as it was designed, I could install new updates in about 10 minutes. With all my customizations though, it can take me 4 or 5 hours to update and longer if something goes wrong. There is a new version in the final stages of release right now and I will be installing it here soon. It is the biggest change to the code that I've seen to this software since starting this site. Most of the customizations that I have added here will have to be completely redone. It's really going to be a pain. I actually installed it this week on my touringhogs site. I started there because I don't have that site nowhere near as customized as this one and so knew it would be easier to do. Still took me a few hours and the site was down for about an hour. When that happens here, I will get about a million emails from the members telling me that the site is down. The new software offers some new features that I really don't even care about and most I will probably disable. So why go to the trouble to upgrade? The problem is that hackers and other deviants are always searching for ways to trash sites. There are always new security measures being implemented and you have to download and install the updates to stay on top of it. While they will release security updates for older versions for a while, they eventually stop supporting the older versions and you have to update sooner or later. It is easier to stay on top of the updates as they come out. Once I install the new software, I will likely ask for the members input on a couple of new features that I really am unsure that I want to use. It actually has a "social networking" feature built in. What this means is that members would be able to have their own groups, sort of like "MySpace", where they can have public messaging between the group members, almost like little mini forums. I can see where that could be useful in that people from certain areas can have their own place to discuss meets and greets and etc. but to me, it sort of takes away from the general forum here where we are all one big group. I will have to really give it some thought. The other thing is that folks will be able to customize their profile pages. Pictures, colors, backgrounds, etc. Not sure how many will actually use that feature. Basically a lot of stuff that I'm not sure I want and like I said, the upgrade is going to require me to re-write a LOT of the customizations that I use here. The flags, the ability to hide threads that you don't wish to see, the ability to hide topic areas, the favorite smilies and even moving the smilies to the bottom instead of at the side. The embedding of the videos....MANY other things are all customizations that will have to be redone. I'm not looking forward to this one.

If I'm reading Brad's post correctly, he is wanting an option for the person who is replying to select to send an email to the original poster. That is not an option at this time. It is up to the original poster to decide if he wishes to receive notifications of any responses. I don't THINK I will change that. If a person wants to receive email notifications, that is their option. If I were to add a feature like this then it would override the members choice to NOT receive such emails. Is that confusing enough?

WOW...now THAT is something that I would love to own. I would need a LOT of financing though.

If you move your pointer over the flag, a little box will popup and show the name of the state or province. Most people do set their states but some just never go to their UserCP and set all the available options. When I first added the flags, I started to make it a required field during registration but the problem with that is that we have a few members from other countries as well as the US and Canada and there is no way that I can add ALL the flags from all states, provinces and etc. of all the countries in the world. So making it a required field would force them to choose a place that they don't live. For anybody who does not have their flag showing, you can go to UserCP, Edit Profile, scroll down to additional information and you'll find a drop down box to select your state or province.

No thanks...I think we are OK in the rain department. 56 here today and not raining at this very moment. Supposed to rain tomorrow though. If it holds off, I may actually get a ride in this weekend. That would be the first time in about 4 months.

These are the small VentureRider patches. There is a picture in the info thread but I honestly don't think that the picture does it justice. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=5248#post5248

I agree with everything Goose just said. I actually think that the lack of grip makes them dangerous. A few years ago when a group of us were carving some curves in Arkansas, the only rider that almost went down a couple of times was the guy running nearly new stock Bridgestone tires.

The Diamond R and the Utopia are so similar that I suspect that if this is a problem, that it will be a problem with both of them. Is that correct?

Thanks...wasn't sure if the ones going to Canada had showed up yet.

I posted this on December 20th, 2007. I assume that any dealings with him since that time were NOT as a result of any posts here because I removed his ads and banned him at that time. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showpost.php?p=158341&postcount=53

I don't know if he visits here now. He has been banned from the forum for exactly this reason. He would never reply to emails from me and others about these problems. If you have a telephone number or email for him that would probably be your best chance of contacting him.

Just wanted to check if all of you have received your patches. I think that the only people who may not have received them are wkboard and maybe seabeetom. Those should be there soon. If you have paid and not received yours, please let me know. I have a LOT of patches still and also still have some VR Guardian Bells if anybody wants some. Don

Great pictures of what was obviously a fantastic trip. I can tell that from your daughter's lovely smile. I'm not a HUGE Gibson fan except for electrics. I will probably own a Les Paul one of these days. That has always been my favorite electric. For now, I've been wanting a 12 string. Finally bought one tonight on Ebay. Got a GREAT deal on a nearly new Seagull 12. Now I just have to wait for it to get here. I've tried a lot of 12 strings lately and really hadn't decided 100% on which one I wanted but the Seagull was one of my preferences. I love the slightly wider neck on it. I already have a Seagull S6 Cutaway and like it a lot.

But....he rides a HARLEY!!!! That is what got you into this mess to begin with.

ahhhh....that is why I couldn't find anything. It's all somebodies wish list. Nice job on his write-up though.

I have no reason to doubt the info but I wonder where it came from. I've searched and found nothing online anywhere. I'm probably just missing it. Unless they really changed the styling, it's just not for me. Sorry...I love the cruiser styling of the RSV. Put an 1800 in it and THEN I MAY consider trading.

Email sent. Thanks for doing this Eck.
