Turn mine off after every use. Sorry to hear about your experience!!

No, I was addressing that to shaynes comment about his bike.

If the whine is every time you lean into a corner then I'd be more apt to say it's tire whine. Some brands of tires whine a lot when leaning into turns.

Doesn't matter, neither is correct. Many have gone back and forth with no problems.

Just some people's way of saying regular oil as opposed to synthetic oil. Dino meaning dinosaur which is where regular oil comes from... Dead dinosaurs.

Yeah, the front should do okay if not better running a new E3 on the back. The narrower tire (130 instead of the 150) has been done and does help the handling, at low speeds. Some have said, however, that highway handling gets a bit squirrely with the narrower front. Most say that, unless your vertically challenged, you're better off with the stock front and the leveling links from diamond R. The links raise the back of the bike changing the trail on the front wheel making it handle better at slow speeds. The general consensus is that the handling difference is about the same with either one and that the wider tire in front gives more stability.

Dan, The MSDS says the ingredients are: Pale Oil - 40.00 - 60.00 % by WT. Naphtha - 25.00 - 35.00 % by WT. IPA - 10.00 - 20.00 % by WT. http://www.seafoamsales.com/component/option,com_rokdownloads/Itemid,17/view,folder/ IPA is Isopropyl Alcohol pale oil has been said to be mineral oil but I'm not sure on that one. The only thing I could come up with is: "A base or process oil refined until its color, by transmitted light, is straw to pale yellow".

Not Whine or Howl but CHIRPING
gibvel replied to LNGARY's topic in Royal Star and Royal Star Tour Deluxe Tech Talk
Not the square cut gears so much as the tolerance between the gear teeth. If it were the square cut gears every single Venture would have the problem and changing the basket wouldn't help on any of them. -
This is an older post but post #8 explains some of the lore of the 404 and some of why different 404s last longer than others. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=15346&highlight=Dunlop

Nope, gotta be a photo on the bike or, as easyduzzit said, it didn't happen. Old Codger?

PCW Clutch upgrade question
gibvel replied to Midrsv's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Dennis: I seem to remember others commenting on this as well. Some have said that if you don't replace the half plate that the friction point will remain like the stock bike. -
Gee, they just changed his name to Cupcake. Now you've got to go and call the poor guy Shirley. You guys are relentless!!

Are you sure she was actually there or was she, maybe, an ethereal spirit of some kind?? Ways you could possibly tell. Was she wearing cloths that appeared to be outdated... say Medievalish in nature? (hence the need for more modern clothing such as the VR T-shirt) Did she seem to be floating? Could you see THROUGH her? Did you happen to notice if the Ghost busters were lurking about? Other than this explanation I can think of no other reason, that nobody knows who she is, besides your little trolley going round the bend. Could that possibly be it? Sorry Peggy I have to get my post count up somehow. Besides it gives the post a bump so more people will see it. You should be thanking us.

You know, it just make me soooo angry when people don't follow the forum rules!!! 1st rule of VentureRiders.org: Don't make a post, like this, unless you have pictures to post with it

Did you have the standard sizes on before this change? Also, what brand? -
And Visa Versa.

I've seen a post, on the web, with just these results from a durometer test. That's why I didn't say anything about it. But there are also other compounds and combinations of compounds that are specific to MC tires that that make wet and dry road grip better on MC tires.

Ummm he did say... So he actually has ridden one and does know about how it handles. It's just amazing to me to what lengths some people are willing to go to ride these things. 1. Most have to pump from 80 to over 100 psi of air into the suckers to get them to seat. 2. From what I've read most have to pump them up to something like 20% over rated maximum inflation to make them handle better. and #2 is the crux here. By inflating a tire to that pressure all you're doing is making the profile of the tire more like a motorcycle tire so it handles better. In the process you're making the tire more unsafe by adding way more pressure than the manufacturer suggests (or for that matter will warranty the tire for I'm sure). To me, there goes your safety argument right there. Then there are the photos I've seen of CT and MC tires in a turn. All the CT users say there is a larger contact patch on the road in a turn. Sorry, all the photos I've seen show different. Besides that, car tires have more grooves and siping than any MC tire I've seen so you can't count that as contact. There's a reason that all the race cars use tires without grooves and there's a reason most MC tires have way fewer grooves than car tires. CT on a Motorcycle just doesn't make sense to me. But more power to you guys. I'm not saying one way or the other and I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from using one, just thinking out loud here.

Is the rear also a Bridgestone? If so, just changing tires will make a huge difference.

New Battery...now head set doesn't work?
gibvel replied to Iowawegian's topic in GPS, Audio, Electronics
You'll probably have to reset the stations. That's a whole other and more difficult operation but, once you know how, it's fairly easy. -

Does the radio play on the speakers? If it's a matter of changing from speaker to headset yes it's very simple. Turn on the radio (audio button), press the select button, use the large "up and down" button on the left side of the controller (not the round knob) to change it from SP to HS and you're done.
