  1. Still beyond me why someone would want to use a CD changer on this bike. You have an auxiliary input, by the cassette deck, into which you can plug a MP3 player. You can put way more than 6 CDs on an MP3 player and the MP3 player won't skip. The MP3 player takes up none of the bag or trunk space. Don't have to drill a hole in the side bag or trunk... I'm just sayin'.
  2. Looks like someone chopped about 10 to 12 inches off of the back when the trunk isn't there. Don't like the look without the trunk. Exhaust looks like something out of James Bond. I'd be looking for some missiles to be shooting out of those things. Nice Technology going on there though. Wonder what problems the shake down year or two will expose.
  3. I was wondering the same thing with the "G1" license plate.
  4. Alas, Wild Hogs 2 has been canceled when the new guy took over at Disney!
  5. Yup, looks like the chunking that Metzlers are famous for!!
  6. Check the title. Is it registered as a salvage? If so, then the price may be a bit high from what I've seen salvage bikes go for. There are different rules for registering a salvaged bike in different states so if it is and you're still interested in the bike check with your state and see. Also, check out all the parts again, as carefully as you can, to determine if there are any other parts that may have hidden cracks or scrapes.
  7. No, those Badges were for both models for the year 06.
  8. Joe, I have no idea what part of the country you're in (which makes some difference in asking price) but an 08 with that kind of mileage is a VERY fair deal ask far as what I've seen online. I've been watching Craigslist, Ebay and Cycle Trader and, to find something like that for that price is very hard especially at a dealer. Yesterday I looked at an 03 on consignment, at a dealer in Longmont. They want 8878.50 + tax out the door with 18,000 miles on it. There's an 07 in Denver that they had listed for 11,999 and they just dropped to 9,999 yesterday. The 07 is missing the fins on the side of the engine because of the idiot that owned it. This is what I'm seeing out here. If you don't take it let me know where it is!
  9. If MY memory serves me correctly (same caveat as Squidely) you use something like a 1/2 Oz for 6 gallons and then less then that for each fill up after that. I've used an old Nyquil dosage cup when I did mine but you have to translate Oz. in to Tbsp. After doing the conversion I think it was more like and Oz or an Oz and a half to 6 gallons then about half that for each fill after that. BTW a Tbsp is .5 Oz.
  10. Look at how much is used per gallon though. I believe you'll see that you use, quite a bit, less of the Startron than you do the Seafoam.
  11. Look for it at Wal-Mart with the boating stuff. They don't stock it in the auto section... at least not around here.
  12. A LOT less than Seafoam!! Also, you use less per tank.
  13. I will second this!! Yamaha had problems with the trunks cracking in the first couple years. They stiffened the trunk with rectangular metal plates and flat rubber pieces both approximately 3" by 1.5" that the 2 screw at the rear of the trunk go through to fasten the trunk to the frame. Well, out of the last 4 bikes I've looked at, one 07 and one 06 (years that should have them) both of them were missing the plates. So, just because Yamaha made the change don't expect the yahoos that assemble the bike to do it right. Also, make sure the CB antenna (the one with the black piece in the middle) is on the left side. If it is not, change the antennas around and make sure the CB still works, not receiving but transmitting. If the antenna doesn't have the proper wave length the transmitted signal can be reflected back into the CB and burn up the transmitter. About 20% of the bikes I've seen on Ebay, Craigslist, etc., lately, have the CB antenna mounted on the wrong side of the bike.
  14. Got it wrong in the photo-op. It was that way on the photo for the 2010 Canadian model as well. Think it may just be the same photos from the Canadian site, from last year, as a matter of fact. Drooled over that color last year and I'm still doing it this year. Darn Yamaha!!
  15. Love the Color, wish I could afford a new one!!
  16. Black block mounted just in front of the oil filter.
  17. Most here like either Avon or Dunlop E3s. Most who've tried both say they perform very similarly. There have been a lot of people here who have had problems with Metzlers throwing chunks of rubber. Big chunks. This has been reported both on the RSV and other large bikes. I remember one tale of it happening on a members friends bike that was a Harley while they were riding home from Don's maintenance day. Quite a few here will tell you to stay away from Metzlers for this reason.
  18. Well, according to the "Venture History" link at the top of the page, the color name is Candy Red/Raven. Same colors used on the 09 Venture and the 09 RSTD.
  19. You're lucky. All the brass spacers in mine fell apart into about 3 or so pieces each. I made more but, believe you me, that wasn't the most fun thing I've ever done.
  20. Come to think of it, he did go rather slowly down the clover leaf entrance ramp.
  21. This guy was on more of a cruiser. Still however, it was put it in gear and get out on the road. There was no hesitation at the end of the gas station drive, I mean NONE. And he didn't even look back to see if anyone was coming. Didn't even turn his head... Just straight out. If I'd have been a car, not thinking about what this guy might do, his life might have drastically changed. Hopefully he realized that.
  22. Well this morning, on the way to work, I was passing a gas station that is right before the entrance to the highway (I-25) The exit to the gas station exits, pretty much, right into the SB exit lane and then you go over the overpass for the NB entrance. I take the NB entrance. There's lots of construction in this location right now so it's even more of a mess than usual. So I usually am a bit more cautious and go a bit slower in this area anyhow. Anywho... I'm tooling along and I see this guy on a bike sitting facing the way I'm headed, back to me, getting ready to leave the gas station. He wasn't at the pumps, kind of on the outskirts of the parking lot. My first thought is, I wonder if he's going to just buzz right onto the road, I'm traveling on, without stopping or looking. Keep in mind this is really, really early in the morning, like 1:15 am so, in his defense there aren't a boat load of cars out at this time of the morning. So I back off of the throttle a little more in anticipation of a possible bonehead move. My suspicions were realized when he just takes off, doesn't slow down or even look and pulls out right in front of me. Man I wish I could have found the horn button faster, but I did get in a good toot to let him know he should stop and look. Moral: It isn't only cagers that pull bonehead moves that can get you hurt!!
  23. We here, at Venturerider.org, go by the theory... If there's no picture it didn't happen. So I'm thinking this didn't really happen!
  24. Then why do you keep selling them?
  25. Well, I've never really been a fan of Arlen Ness, to be honest. Haven't seen one of his designs that really does anything for me. To me, it just looks like a slightly toned down version of the Vision.
