I request your prayers

I had a similar job and held it for over fifteen years after retiring from the Marine Corps after thirty years of continuous active duty. I was the Director of international dangerous cargo for a major international steamship container carrier. It too, required me to travel the world ensuring compliance with volumes of various shipping regs. I too, was super tired of traveling. So I decided how to solve that problem one Friday in June 2013 while driving to work. And that was as soon as I arrived at work that day I gave the boss my notice. He was very upset in that I told him I was leaving at noon. Never looked back. -

rear header pipes removal
MasterGuns replied to jimmyenglish's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I had the same issue a very long time ago, that is I had to replace the rear header assembly on an 86 venture I owned while stationed on Okinawa Japan. What I did, rather that pulling the engine, I cut the tab between the two down pipes and removed each pipe (2 and 3 cylinders) one at a time. I also cut the tab on the replacement header pipe so I could install them one at a time. Once I had them stabbed into their respective place in the collector, I then tightened up the header pipes at the head. Rode it another 4 years without issue. good luck -
Went out for about a 3hour ride today and saw 82 degrees for some of it. No snow shovels anywhere around North Texas. A really great day.

Should had been the Boys playing Seattle again but....... Kicked their butts once already this season and in Seattle at that. -
I had to disassemble (again) the carbs off of this doggone 83 I have been messing with. Upon reassembly I found I am now missing the idle mixture screw. It was there when I took the carb apart, but have somehow lost it. I have the small spring but not the needle itself. I just spent about 2 hours looking all of the garage for this needle but with no luck. My reason for posting is to find out if anyone knows where one can be purchased. I just checked a couple websites and I don't even see this carb part listed. Or, if anyone has not they are willing to sell, I would be more than happy to buy it from you. I appreciate any help I can get with this matter. Thanks

Ignition woes (maybe)≥÷
MasterGuns replied to flyday58's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
The 83 I've working on has 14.1 volts at the battery at 2500 rpm. I think you should be chasing a charging problem. -
Jeff/Squeeze, Figured things out. Doing as you suggested Jeff and when I started to check the out voltage on the green/red wire I had to jiggle the wires around a bit to expose a part of the g/r wire to gain access in order to insert the safety pin I was using. Upon the jiggling process the g/r wire just fell out of the connector. It was badly corroded so it didn't take much movement to break free. I finally managed to get the little connector out of the plastic plug but in doing so I gurred it up pretty good. Fortunately I have a spare harness that I removed a like metal connector soldered it to the r/w wire and inserted it back into the plastic plug. No more dim low beam. If I had not been following your instructions I would never figured out the problem. Thank you you so much. Herb

I have been chasing this problem for way too long. So before I have this bike sent to a salvage yard, I am going to reach out to the experts. Problem - low beam is way to dim. 1. Bulb has tested good. 2. Dimmer switch replaced and is good as well as clean. 3. Not real sure how to check the reserve lighting unit but I have three of them and same symptom with all three. This pretty much eliminates a bad RLU. 4. I also removed the CMU to check for a faulty solder point and could not identify any but re-soldered the plug solder points anyway. Reinstalled - dim low beam still. Since I had another complete dash unit, I checked the replacement dash and found no issues and installed that one. Still a dim low beam. High beam is as bright as it should be, just a dim low beam. Battery is 12.6. How should I proceed from here? I'd hate to part this thing out; it runs just too good to do that. Thanks in advance for your help. herb

Carb Removal
MasterGuns replied to Joshua Sameulson's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I use a short crowbar to pry mine off. If you think removing the carbs is somewhat difficult, you will be making up a few new four letter words when it comes time to pop them back in those hardened manifold boots. I had to use my wife's hair dryer to heat em up to finally get them to pop back in. That was in addition to my 220 lbs standing right on top of them. Good luck. -

I sold an 83 Venture to my BIL in 2006. Just before selling it to him, I had completely repainted it, rebuilt the carbs, installed a new stator assy, put new tires on it, had the seat redone. It was in a outstanding condition and ran really well. With the new paint job it looks really bada$$, too. I was visiting him a few months back and the bike was parked in his garage and covered. I could tell that he hadn't be on it in some time. So, I asked him when was the last time he rode it. To my bewilderment he had put only a little more that 300 miles on it since he bought it from me. He also stated that in had deteriorated somewhat since he hadn't been on it much. He hadn't even started it in over 5 years. Since he now has spells of being dizzy (he is 76 now) and can't ride he offered it back to me. I really wasn't interested because I have trouble keeping one bike up properly and surely didn't need a second one again so I told him I wasn't interested in buying it back. He said he didn't want to sell it to me but that I could just have it for free if I just got it out of my garage. I accepted. Since the bike has been back in my possession, I have installed a new battery, and gone through the carbs twice, cleaned out the fuel tank, changed oil and all those other necessary maintenance items. The bike again runs like a top; quiet as the day it was made. It even has 180 on all four cylinders. The only issue I now have and can't figure out is the rear brakes. I have read there is a third bleed valve up around the steering head somewhere. If there is, I surely cannot find it. Apparently after all those years of just sitting there, a rat or mouse or something ate a small hole in the brake hose; the one from the reservoir to the actual master cylinder. I replaced it and have been trying to bleed the rear brake system for over a week. My question is; did all 83s have that third bleed valve? I now do not get any air bubbles from the front bleed valve, but have gotten air from the rear bleed valve for probably over 100 bleeding attempts. What is going on? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Anyone remember the Auranthetic bikes called CHARGERS ?

I'vealways wondered where Yamaha got their idea for the 2d gen. -
Marines was given the slang term "Jarhead" a very long time ago not because their head may or may not fit in a jar. Rather "we" was tagged with the term "jarhead" because of "lids". A lid is a cover. And a cover is a hat for all those that don't know that. Just a little about Marine Corps history.

"Have you ever been guilty of looking at others your own age"....yep but only the opposite sex -
Just arrived home from chemo and visiting my daughter and to my surprise nobody remembered that today; November 10, is the 239th birthday of the U.S. MARINE CORPS. So, to all you former "Leathernecks", ohhhhhhhrahhhhhh, Semper Fi and Happy Birthday. Once a Marine; always a Marine. Semper Fi MasterGuns
