  1. This is my first ride way back in the early 60's. Rode this thing from San Antonio to Kerrville and beyond at the age of 12. It is a 1949 Cushman......OMG
  2. The "EAGLES"; any Eagles. But a couple of my favorites are: Busy Being Fabulous How Long Hotel California and one from ZZ Top.....LEGS
  3. Rather than spending time learning how to do wheelies, we all need to spend time practicing panic stops. This is something we use to teach our Marines that had to attend the Marine Corps Bases Motorcycle Safety Course (taught on base by other Marines). Ever try an emergency stop, one like your life depends on it, from 60 or 70 mph. Ain't fun and can get kinda scary unless you practice it.
  4. Buddy, you are correct. Hooked up the Odyssey to a 10 amp charger yesterday for a couple hours then took it to have it load tested. It tested good. Just checked it and it is still holding at 13.10 volts. So I won't have to go to Wally World after all. Thanks for the guidance. Herb
  5. Thanks Kevin, I thought about that location as well but the top of the air box is already spoken for by an Ignitec tci. So, the only other decent locations I've found is behind the seat and on top of the compressor top. I can use industrial strength Velcro to attach it there. Thanks for your comments though.
  6. Has anyone ever installed a FZ1 fuse block on their 1st edition? If so, where did you mount it. I want to use one for the several accessories I have on the bike but before ordering one, I want to know if it can be mounted somewhere other than in the trunk, one of the saddle bags or in either side of the fairing.
  7. First, I corrected the spelling of this battery as well as the model. I was in an extreme hurry while typing my first post and didn't have time to give everyone all the details so I unintentionally left out one crucial detail. That is that while connecting an accent light power line I accidently shorted out the switch power lead coming from the battery. As a matter of fact I think I may had shorted the same line out twice. I was also in a hurry trying to get the installation completed and didn't disconnect the negative battery cable even though I know I should had. You know the old adage "Haste makes waste". So could shorting out the power lead to the accent light switch destroy an Odyssey PC680? If so, then I'll never buy another one because I would now consider them as being too fragile. Never the less, could I have destroyed the battery myself? Masterguns
  8. Installed a brand new Odessy PC80 battery about 3 months ago. Just went out to take a ride and the bike wouldn't start. As a matter of fact the dash wouldn't even come on. So started troubleshooting. Nothing pulling power when connected. Removed fuses one at a time and no change in voltage. With the battery tender hooked up cannot get voltage above 11.57 even battery completely disconnected. So my question is can an Odessy PC80 fail that quickly? Was good yesterday. Guess I'll have to go to Wally World and get one of theirs if I want to ride today. I am now very disappointed in Odessy batteries. Masterguns
  9. Eck, Just took a look at the local radar for your area. I know you know but I still hope you are keeping up-to-date with the path of these storm yourself. I think the worst may past north of Huntsville but one never knows. I think the frontal zone with the bad storm embedded within may be in your area around 6 o'clock this evening. Hope you and yours are safe.
  10. OMG, I bet the innards of the space shuttle are less complicated.
  11. "--IT" happens ! and this is "stupIT"...
  12. The same thing happened to me while on a ride in Oklahoma last year. Bike started just fine and everything electrical worked. Hit the rear brake and the headlight dimmed to almost off. Killed bike to check things out and the battery was almost completely dead. Installed a new battery and problem solved. Sold bike to GaryZ and haven't heard a word about electrical issues.
  13. I will soon be adding an upgraded clutch spring and thought that as long as I am in there I may as well upgrade the clutch cam segment to the improved designed segment from a newer model. I've read here that an upgrade would be a segment assembly for a newer XVZ1300. But before I order the parts I want to make sure I am ordering the correct stuff. The below PN's are for a 2000 XVZ1300TF. My bike is an 86 VR. The part numbers I intend to order are below and if this is not the correct way for me to proceed, please, someone jump in and get me squared-away. Here ya go: Dowel Pin 93603-10049-00 (one) Plate Stopper 4NK-18141-00-00 Segment 4NK-18185-00-00 Dowel Pin 93604-12037-00 (five) Countersunk screw 90151-06013-00 (just in case) Dowel pin 93604-16092-00 Thanks
  14. Tom, I'll take the front rotors; if no one else has expressed interest already. PM me if still available and I'll PM you my address. Also, can you be paid via PayPal or do you need payment another way. Masterguns (Herb)
  15. Eck, My family and I have been in our underground storm shelter (almost like yours) more than I hate to think of. When down there, I use my laptop to monitor the storm. I also have a small 13" television in it, also to watch the storm. Don't forget to place a five gallon bottle of water (Sparkletts or something similar) and a good first aid kit, candles, and whatever else you deem necessary. Mine also has room for three military style cots, just in case we are down there for a long time. I don't know about Alabama, but around here I have to throw a bug bomb down inside it at the beginning of each spring to kill all the spiders, wasps and scorpions that have found their way inside. Storm shelters are a great investment around here. I wish I had a video of me trying to coax my dogs to go down the stairs. Herb
  16. I suppose the next disgusting thread will be on the legalization of pedophilia.
  17. At the SE Texas Maintenance Day, two 1st Editions had their valves adjusted. The cam lobe was positioned 180 degrees up from each valve shim. Positioning using T1 and T2 was not used and the outcome was great. The lobe was positioned directly between the valve cover bolt locations which is directly 180 degrees from the top of the valve shim.
  18. Well, it is a pretty long story but I will make it as short as I can. Went to the doc on Oct 31, 2013 for a painful left thigh. He thought it was my L4 vertebrae so off to get a MRI of my lower back. Diagnosis.....a large mass on my left kidney. WOW! What now. Had a biopsy of the mass and low and behold, kidney cancer. So off to two other urologists in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and both were too afraid to operate due the very close proximity of the tumor to my aorta. Everyone knows that even slight damage to one's aorta can cause a bleed out in just seconds. So, I searched around for a surgeon that was not intimidated by the location of this tumor and found one at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Started seeing him and his staff (all very wonderful professionals) on December 9th last year. January 14th I was in surgery for an open radical nephrectomy (removal on a kidney) and was in the hospital 9 days. I now have a 17in incision down the center of my belly. The good news is that I just had my first follow-up and I am clear of the disease and have been ordered by the doc to start riding again so that my disposition on things improve. One can live with only one kidney but not go very long without riding a scooter. So, today I broke out my 86 from the moth balls (got rid of my FJR and the 92 since I thought my days were very limited when I was first diagnosed) and she stills purrs like a kitten. Surprised cause I had not started her up since about 1 Oct last year (well over 4 months). Got my insurance renewed with Progressive a few minutes ago and will be ridin tomorrow. I've been down some rough roads in my 64 years, but none have been as difficult as this surgery. This was the most painful ordeal I have had to endure in my life. Hydrocodon didn't help at all. For the first month I could only move from bed to my recliner. Even showering was a huge undertaking. Didn't have an appetite at all; hence I had lost over forty pounds between the surgery and the middle of February (one month). But have now gained back about 8 pounds. I have now put my self on a diet because I should get back to what I weighed when I retired from the Marine Corps and that was 192. So I am going to lose 13 pounds. Wish me luck. Just one question.....is there anyone else here that has lost a kidney? If there is, please let me know...I have lots of questions. Masterguns
  19. I just wonder why this issue is referred to as the "darkside". Could if be that we have riders dying because of a CT on a bike that specific incident it is too taboo to talk about? Perhaps that is why this thing is referred to as "darkside". Personally anyone can do whatever they are inclined to do; that is the way things are. And just because someone may have been running CTs; forever perhaps, just doesn't mean it is a safe practice. Some are just more lucky than others. My 2 cents.
  20. Must have something to do with Arizona Prius drivers; may be all the heat over there decaying their brain housing groups. I own a 2013 Prius V, a $35,000 vehicle. It is in no way a piece of crap. Maybe all the Arizona Prius's are pieces of crap or maybe it is the drivers. Who knows. I drive the hell out of it; had it up to a 100 mph. I also drive in the fast lane and not too many vehicles pass me. Must be my driving style.
  21. You have that opinion because you live in the middle of nowhere; Lipan I think. Last time I was out that way, I think I rode 1/2 day without even seeing another vehicle. There is a quarter of a million people in the metroplex without water, power or phones and no fireplaces like I'm sure you have. Wanna trade with one of em? Herb
  22. My place is only 28 miles from ATT Stadium and the air out here is beginning to smell real bad. The Cowboys have given the word "Suck" a new meaning.
  23. and who got spanked?????
  24. How long can I expect to power a pair of heated socks that draw 9 watts each sock from a 10.5 AH rechargeable deep cycle battery? Here is how I figured this out and if I am out in left field please correct me. 10.5 Amp hours is 10,500 mah 18 watts at 12.8 volts is 230.4 mA The battery can safely discharge 80% of its charge or 8400 mah 8400 divided by 230.4 is 36 hours. Am I correct or I am screwed up?
  25. I also noticed his shirt was pretty much blood stained at the beginning of the video. It is a hoax.
