I tried to air up my Federal tire with it standing up. The wheel would drop down into the tire (not centered) and it would not seat to the wheel. I laid the wheel and tire on a barrel (horizontal) pushed the lower side of the tire down onto the wheel. This centered the tire on the wheel. I then used a band around the tire to help to get it to bead to the wheel. It only took about 75 PSI to seat the tire to the wheel. Earl

100,000 miles are not that much, but the bike is sure worth a lot less than if it only had 50,000 miles. If you can buy it cheap and you are not planning to put more than 5,000 miles a year on it, it may be the bike for you. If you can do your own maintains, that would be a plus to. It would be good if you could get a Venture Rider to check it out for you. Earl

I think 15.2 volts will cook your battery. Your voltage regulator should keep it below 14.7 volts. Earl

I have a Travelcade seat which may be lower than yours. With the stock seat I could flat foot it if I moved up front a little. I have a 28” inseam. Earl -

How much air pressure do you have in your shocks & forks? I run 3lbs in front & 20 in rear. I am 5'6" and I can flat foot my bike. Earl 00 RSV -
Good food and Venture Riders make for a great time. I think I saw Saltydog and KromeRose Saturday morning in Havelock. I was on my way to a Teddy Bear run in Morehead City. Earl:farmer:

What Don said, about 20 lbs. of tongue weight. I wished I had not had a prior obligation yesterday. I would have liked to meet you at Roberts, when you picked up the trailer. I only live about five miles from him. I think you got a great deal on the trailer. Earl

I have a Federal 165/80/15 CT on the rear of my bike. I have a little over 4,000 miles on it and I am very happy with it. I like the ride and handling better than the 404. Earl

I got 14,000 miles on my original 404, but on the next two replacement 404’s I only got 7,000 miles:doh: each. No more 404’s for me. Earl

Speedo groan clarification
mm482 replied to Gearhead's topic in Venture and Venture Royale Tech Talk ('83 - '93)
I lubed my, with the speedometer on the bike. I used a 3 foot long piece of fuel line, I think it was 3/8 “ ID, it has to fit tight on the speedometer. I removed the speedometer cable. Then I slide the hose up on to the speedometer and taped the other end up to the left mirror. I filled the hose with ATF fluid and let it set over night. I rode the bike about 100 miles and then did it again. Earl 86 VR 00 RSV -

That sounds like something I would like to do. I have sampled a few slices of pie in Mena and Hatfield. I plan to be at the rally all week. It would love to get together for pie or a ride some time during the week. Earl
