  1. Hey Carl, Getting back to the subject of this thread, are you still driving the snow plough? Getting any sleep? BTW, 80* and sunny here today. What shall it be Mercedes convertible or RSV? Decisions, decisions!
  2. we don't call him father time for nothing
  3. Hey Don, mine is sitting in the garage with a brand new motor, ready to go to work. You're welcome to use it. I don't need it here in Texas.

  6. Maybe we could make it an International M&E?
  7. Sorry Gene, I got this message too late. We have to go to the club house to get an internet connection so I only check my messages and jump on here for a few minutes in the evening. Went to our first Mardi Gras parade in Mobile today. We also visited the USS Alabama.
  8. Heading west to Texas from New Orleans. We're staying at http://www.pontchartrainlanding.com/ from Monday to Friday.
  9. We did take the ferry across the bay. We are going to Mobile tomorrow to check things out. Battleship Park was on my list.
  10. We are camping at Gulf Shores State Park. It's very hard to get into this time of year but we got lucky.
  11. Building Street Rods and going camping.
  12. We have spent this week at Gulf Shores State Park in Gulf Shores Alabama. What a beautiful spot. Road the bike to Dauphin Island and along the coast to Pass Christian Mississippi today. Lot of evidence of the hurricane damage but everything is getting cleaned up nicely, at least along the coast where we were today. The weather has been fantastic all week. Heading for New Orleans on Monday.
  13. Get well soon Bud. Thinking good thoughts for you and your family.
  14. Funny thing about it is there wasn't one bar hopper in the bunch. 3 HDs, 1 GW and 1 RSV. All touring machines and built to ride long distances. I don't mind stopping every hour or so on a group ride for a pit stop or a DQ. When I'm riding alone I can go tank to tank but usually stop every couple of hours or so with my co-pilot aboard. Anyway, we won't get a chance to ride with this group again. We're moving out tomorrow. The weather man says the jet stream is heading north so I think it might be safe to start heading west.
  15. I like the way you think Dave.
  16. Yesterday, was a beautiful sunny day here in central Florida. We were going to head out on the bike and explore some of the areas we haven't been to yet but some of the other folks in the park invited us to join them for a ride. Great idea, I thought, it's always nice to ride with someone who may know of some good riding in the local area. So we head out at about 12:15, stop to top up the gas tank and off we go. Sixteen miles up the road I see everyone (four other bikes with five people) slowing and turning into a bar. Maybe a great place to eat, I think. Nope, $1 drafts. OK, go with the flow, I'll have a diet coke. Half an hour later we're ready to roll again. Nice ride, seeing some different country and starting to enjoy the trip. Now what? Another thirty miles and now we're pulling into another bar. We don't want to be rude and I'm getting hungry so in we go. Again $1 drafts and just awful deep fried bar food. But it's a nice sunny day and we're sitting on a patio overlooking a nice river. An hour later off we go again. Four lanes, heavy traffic with lots of strip malls etc. After thirty miles of this we turn off the four lane on to a nice country road and start heading toward the gulf. We stop again but this time it's a nice beach area. The beer drinkers run into the restroom for a quick pit stop and ten minutes later away we go. Back into the traffic for about ten miles or so then a main two lane road but at least it's out in the country. Another thirty miles and you guessed it, another bar. By this time it's getting to be about 5:00, dark in a little over an hour and I've had enough bars. I gave everyone a honk and a wave and off I went. Hope they didn't think I was rude but if they did, too bad. I went back to the space shuttle, put my feet up and enjoyed a nice cold beer out on the patio.
  17. Randy, I hope you are not disappointed in Deadwood. It's not really anything like the TV show. The casinos ruined the old west atmosphere IMHO. I was there in 1977 and really liked it but when I took my kids there in '96 I couldn't believe it was the same place. The Iron Mountain Rd. is a must do ride.
  18. We picked up on that too Jay. Thought maybe they cut part out on purpose to time the fly over or something. Sad!
  19. Mary says you need to see this. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDTsLjDf_uE&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - Rodney Atkins - Cleaning This Gun (Come On In Boy)[/ame]#
  20. Who told you that fairy tale? Nothing is ever free.
  21. Just for fun I went to the TD site to get a quote on my bike and my pickup. Better rate on the bike if you have another vehicle with them too. They were $300/year less for the bike and $300/year more for the pickup. Bike alone was $200 less than I'm paying now. Not worth the aggravation of having two different insurance companies to me. I've found in the past that the different companies that offer bike insurance like to give you a low ball rate to get you to sign up and then start jacking the price after the first year.
  22. Well Dave, all I can say is there's no snow on the roof right now and Mary sure as heck didn't get it down here. It's a beautiful sunny day here and about 70*F right now. How many people ever actually get to see a shuttle launch anyway? You hear about them in the news. You see pictures of them before and after but maybe they are all photo shopped? We all know they went to Sudbury to fake the moon landing right. If you ever get that antique bike of yours going again why don't you come on down here and follow me over to Texas. You can do the video. Or, better yet I'll take you for a ride in the shuttle. We have extra seat belts.
  23. If I were Mr. Yamaha, I'd want that whole engine assembly back so I could do a very thorough inspection to see what failed and do a root cause analysis. That's what we did at the transmission plant where I worked. Good luck.
  24. Possible bad ground. Swap the bulbs should eliminate or prove this.
  25. FYI, for anyone thinking of building something like this. There are some real nice LED reproduction tail lights available IE: '39 Ford, '48 Chev, '50 Pontiac and some others that mount flush on any flat surface. Just pickup any Street Rod magazine or look on e-bay. I thought of this after I built mine. The '48 Chev lights would have worked perfect. http://www.uapac.com/ant/products.php?series=led&cate=1&item_no=31&view=3
