  1. Hi all, I am trying to find a part number for a vender or tank and not the whole assembly. When I look on star's site it list all the parts but it does not seem to list the actual fender or the tank. I want to just replace the fender and tank and do not need all the other parts. Ebay is not an option since this is for insurance purposes. Appreciate the help. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/images/smilies/mytruck1.gif
  2. Thanks for the feedback guys - appreciate. Will look into the connection and see if that fixes it. If not I will be back.
  3. I hope some of you can help me pinpoint a problem I have with my audio system on my Venture. On a long ride to Yosemite while listening to the radio suddenly the sound would fade away when I was increasing speed and as soon I would let go of the throttle it would return. This problem has since continued. So when I take off it drops the sound as I go through the gears, once I am at cruising speed it is fine since I do not move the trottle much. ****ting down does not affect it. Interesting enough it does not happen to the speakers - only to my headsets. I have tried two different headsets and both have same issue so I assume that it is not the headsets. Also it does it in aux (GPS) and radio. Have not tried the cassette yet. Anyway, any idea what the issue is and how it can be fixed. Appreciate it. Thanks.
  4. I believe it might be in China. I have been there many times and this is nothing, they drive there like crazy, no one obeys the traffic rules. Different world - feel sorry for that biker.
  5. You got it all alright. I verified with ohm meter and was able to splice them in under the seat. Very neat. Thanks for the help. Appreciate it, feel safer now with some more light back there.
  6. I am using J&M headsets and pretty happy. I had first the low end and it was fine for me and then upgraded the to high end and really can't tell a difference - of course I am tone deaf so any decent music sounds fine with me. Over though I am happy with J&M - put the lower end in wifes helmet and she is happy with it. J&M low end are about $110 or so plus lower cable. Hope that helps.
  7. Does any one have instructions for installing this light bar and which wires to connect so it works with brake and regular lights. Appreciate the help. Thanks.
  8. I believe what you ar looking for is in the tech library. Here is the link http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3768
  9. Seems kind of weird - Why would it do it on rear only and not on front:confused24:
  10. On my new Venture when I have the audio coming through the headsets I can still hear the music on the rear speakers. Even when I have a headset plugged in the back it has sound coming out of it (in esense both the speakers and helmet.) It it very soft and no major deal but it does not seem right. The front speakers for not have this issue. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?
  11. Our experience with finding a small dog through SPCA has been very frustrating due to them being so popular. Once you know there is one and need to fill in papers they are gone. We got our little weiner through word of mouth and found this a much better way. So this board is good and I would tell all others you know you are looking and something will click. Good luck. Below is our lapdog.
  12. Rich, Got your invite and will try to make it. It is an important case. Will let you know.
  13. We do a real tree for the smell and the kids. We enjoy the look and feel of the real ones and the task of picking it out every year.
  14. Well I got my new Midnight Venture in the garage. After doing some searching and some help from Condor I have got my self a nice 2007 Midnight Venture in the garage. As you all know it is an awesome bike and I am mighty proud and cn't wait to do more rides. Thanks for all your help and advise on getting one. Posted a few quick pics on the site. See you on the road.
  15. As this video takes away my appetite it also reinforces the need to constantly work on our own safety and skills as we ride. It is a reminder that we are vulnerable and need to be ever so vigilant about improving our riding abilities and be in control - and not have others control it.
  16. Before I had decided on the RSTD I had my mind set on a HD ultra or Honda Goldwing but this for me was purely out of ignorance on what else was out there. The biggest obstacle was price. I drove a Road King for 600 miles over two days and liked it but was not sold and they are expensive used. The RSTD sold me for many reasons; higher windshield, less vibration, smooth ride, nicer styling, lower noise, easy conversion and low cost. Now that I have had it for 4 months and driven over 3K I want the things that the Venture has. I sat on all the comparable bikes at the IMS show and felt the Venture has it all for me. I am a tall guy and need room and I could not find this on the HD. In the end it is all about what works for you and what you like, want, can afford and need. The Venture could use an update but for me it is good enough for now (once I get one - test driving a 07 on wed.) I am still new to all the technical parts and for me it is more like will it start and does it keep running and 5 year warranty helps a lot in that. Maybe in a few years I will change my mind , who knows. For now I enjoy my RSTD everyday and hope the same with a Venture once I get one.
  17. Jack, I thought so too. I had found a nice brand new blue one in Florida and price was right but guy tells me I can bring it here unless it has 7500 miles on it. Glad I learned that lesson I saw the one in Stockton but I want either blue or black.
  18. Guys, Thanks for all your feedback. I agree that a bike with 30K versus 5K of the same year should go for less if both have equal parts. Of course when people put custom stuff on their bike it changes the picture. What I see though is that many people are asking similar prices for these two bikes and this kind of surprised me. Maybe it is the time of the year. I am almost venture to guess that the 30K is better taken care of since this is a person serious about riding versus the 5K one is just not riding (for a 2005.) I have put 3K on my RSTD in 3 months. My other issue with this all is that I have not found any Ventures for sale in California and the DMV here requires a bike to have at least 7500 miles on it to bring it in from another state to be considered used. Does any CA member have had experience with this? Of course I can ride it home from East Coast Anyway I will be searching and will let you all know what I end up with.
  19. After having my RSTD for several months I have decided that I want to get a Venture - want the trunk, CB, radio, and bars for my kids to hang onto when riding. Love the RSTD and possibly keep it for some lighter riding - will see. While I searching for a used Venture I have come across several with 30-40,000 miles on them - some are 2003-2005 years. I have heard nothing but positive on these bikes as in there quality but wondered if any of you have some wisdom on buying a bike with 30K or more on it. Also I am curious what effect this higher mileage has on the resell value ( or should have.) On a side note I find it interesting the wide range pricing I have seen on the Ventures - last week there was an brand new 2007 venture for $13400 on Ebay while I have seen elsewhere 2005 ventures for sale at $ 14500. Anyway, as always appreciate your input.
  20. I believe this might all be a local ordinances. In San Francisco it is allowed to share a metered spot with a car. Both MC and car are responsible for the meter however so if it runs out you both get a ticket. Parking the bike is dependent on street angle (especially in SF) by California vehicle code.
  21. What a perfect day it was, it was great meeting all the venture rider members. Thanks for inviting me. Look forward talking about rides for the future. Take care.
  22. Look forward seeing you all. Weather is going to be great especially after this rainy week.
  23. Bill, Could not agree more. Yesterday went riding with Star Chapter 186 and met Lone Eagle and lethompson1 (Larry) from this site and they were great. We had a wonderful time and they made me feel right at home. Next week we going to Woodland, Ca for some ribs and hope to met a bunch more from this site and I know they will be all great people. Glad to be here. Take care.
  24. Sounds good, changed my dentist appointment so I clear to go. Look forward meeting you all then.
  25. Does anyone know if this issue with speedometer and odometers is universal i.e. does the error occur regardless if import bike or US bikes or only on import bikes?
