  1. Well I probably will change the tire as it will give me a peace of mind. and as stated what is the price of safety. I will probably get a tire from ZDENO in Kitchener as they have the best price around and will install it on the rim if I take the tire off the scoot. Thanks for the replys and comfirming what I thought. Bob
  2. Hi All I have a Metzler 880 tire on the rear of my scoot. I have put approx 20,000km (12,500 miles) on it. There is approx 3/16" tread left on the center of the tire. How much tread is on a new tire?? I am planning on a 8,000 km trip this June from Ontario to Yellowstone to meet my brother for a 5 days of riding and was wondering what you think about the tire. Will it last or should I replace it. The price of tires here in Canada is rediculous so I would hate to waste a good tire. But on the other hand I have been caught away from home and had a tire go bad. Hence that is why I have a Metzler and had to get rid of the Avon. I am planning on picking up a tire on my way home and will have it changed after the trip. I know when tires go bad they go fast. Bob
  3. Just buy a Ford and have as much fun and no tracks required.:rotf::rotf:
  4. Well at least your price went down. I guess our gas stations did'nt get the word to lower prices. still 137.9 litre. :confused24:
  5. I never saw that one the one I seen is the same as the one in the link I posted Bob
  6. I was in Costco the other day and they had a pretty nice looking motorcyle trailer. tried to look it over but they had it standing on end so I could not see the under carriage as it was against the wall. Had nice 12" tires with chrome rims. Nice finish and a fairly low profile. I did think it was a bit long but other than that it looked to be built pretty good. Price was $1400 Canadian. I think you had to buy a spare tire as that was not included. Weight was 150 lbs and cargo load was 250lbs Check out there link http://www.pod-ium.com/PODIUM-motorcycle-luggage-trailer-aluminum.html Bob:301:
  7. Looks like our bikes here in Canada have finally been lowered to match US prices. The price of a Venture has dropped $3,900 Canadian. Yamaha has announced big price drops on its most popoular bikes. I guess it is good news if you have nothing to sell and are a new buyer??? http://www.cyclecanadaweb.com/articles/14098/
  8. On the Nolans, I just purchased the N43 with a J&M 279 head set. Boy am I ever disappointed. I would not recommend this to helmet to anyone. First off it is way to tight on my checks and I ordered a XL. I tried one on at the Bike show and it fit fine. However I figured maybe 5000 people tried it on and stretched it. Secondly I have never had a helmet so noisy, my old HJC is 10 times as quite as the Nolan. I figured that if I flip down the visor it should get quiter, WRONG it gets even noisier. As far as the head sets go they have very poor quality in my opinion. When I flip down the visor and try to look at the GPS everything gets blurry. This is the first time I have spent a lot of money on a helmet. By the time I got this helmet shipped to Canada I had close over $400 dollars invested. Now to be fair I have a medium Clearveiw sheild which I have chopped down another 2" which might allow more air to pass over the helmet. But my HJC has caused me no problems.
  9. Just wondering if anybody has received there rebate on the Avon tyres purchased from April 1st 2011 to May15th 2011. I sent all my stuff in and have yet to receive anything back. Bob
  10. try for bro trailers they are made in Ontario. http://www.forbro.com/ I found a used Starlight 16 and it seems to be the right size for me and the Mrs's. Had it to the East Coast twice and once down to the Smokies.:grandma:
  11. This is what my wife wears. she loves it. One note is the one she has is a little bit smaller and and white. We also both have other under armor T shirts as well as underwear.Very cool on hot summer days as they breathe and are very comfortable. http://www.underarmour.com/shop/ca/en/search/results/pid8000071-Skull-Cap/8000071-001
  12. Seen this article in the Toronto Star Saturday. It is a article about a couple touring around on there Venture with there dog. Hope the link works. http://www.wheels.ca/Columns/article/792003
  13. Well made it home this evening. What a change of weather from Louisianna. 104 F there and 68F here in good old Ontario. I got as far as Richmond on Thursday and stopped in at I 75 Yamaha. I had about 1" of cord showing in 2 spots when I left Lake city and about 7" by the time I got to Richmond. Boy I can not beleive how fast they go when they are on there final legs. Dennis offered me to purchase his brand new E3 but unfortunately we could not make it happen Thanks for the offer Dennis. I 75 Yamaha had a Tire for me but not what I really wanted. I ended up with a Metzler tire. They had the tire changed out and had me out the door in 2.5 hrs. Great service but wow what a price. I guess I am used to doing my own installation. Labour alone was $114. Never had a Metzler before and have heard good and bad things about them. I was told they will outlast a Avon but I guess what that means is they have a harder rubber and therefore you will lose grip on wet roads and the twisties. One good thing about being at the dealer was the fact that there was a dandy thunder storm pass through and I was nice and dry for the whole thing. One thing for sure I know is that as long as I have my laptop along I am never far from help with Venture riders.org. Once again thanks for all the advice and offer of assistance. Bob
  14. Yes I got a tire. Am having problems with internet connection at hotel. I have tried posting 5 times. Will post more details Friday night when I get home. Bob
  15. This is why this site is so great. Randy thanks for the offer to get me tire and deliver it to boot but I will see what i can do in the morning as everyone is closed until the morning. I was wondering how far I might get on the tire I have. It has about a 3" stretch of threads showing right down the middle. I have about a 600 mile run home straight up I 75 to Ontario. I was going to pick up a tire in Cinncintti on my home from Sport Touring. Unfortunatly they do not install tires. Everyone else who posted a reply thanks and aas I mentioned i will start calling in the morning. Bob
  16. Well am I bad, I left Canada with what I thought was a ok rear tire. it seems to have worn a lot faster than I anticipated. Anybody know of a dealer around Lake City that might have a tire in stock and able to install it I have tried Mountain Power Sports 1 40 Good Times Yamaha of Knoxville. Perhaps somewhere heading north on 1 75. Thanks Bob
  17. When my dealer installed my lights he told me they only work on low beam and that is what the law states. If you think about your car or truck with fog lights the fog lights go out when you put on the high beams. Not sure if that is the rule with motorcycles or not.
  18. Thanks for all the great replies. Freebird yes my pads are the originals so I might change them out. and I think I will try a little oil down the shraeder valve on the rear shock. Thanks again guys This is why this site is so fantastic.
  19. Hi guys I have 2 small poblems. #1 is I have noisy front brakes. Sounds like metal on metal but when I checked the pads there was lots left. I was wonering if it is the bike cleaner I am using and thngs are just to dry. I use S100 cleaner. 2Nd Problem is when I sit on the bike the rear shock sqeaks. I tried to spray the rubber with Moovit but it still sqeaks. Is my Shock shot. Thanks Guys for all the relys. :thumbsup2:
  20. Wife and I did this in July 2007. We were told to do the cabot trail counterclockwise which we did because you got the best veiws. Started out in fog and it got progressively worse until we reach the top and then it instantly cleared. Wow what a veiw. We also took in some whale watching around Pleasant Bay and we were not disapointed. We stayed at Baddeck at the Telegraph Hose and cottages. Roads are a quite rough in places but I have riden on a lot worse. As mentioned earlier we to travelled though Maine, Vermont and New Hamshire and were not dissappointed. Would we go again. You bet only this time I would make time for Newfoundland as well. Bob
  21. Isn't that great. It will not let me use a PO Box and even if it did they will not ship to Canada.
  22. Anybody ever try Mad Maps. My brother and I use them in the states all the time. They are great. A little time consuming to manually download a route into a GPS but well worth the effort. We have had some pretty fantastic rides in Tennesee, West Virginia and Kentucky. You can even buy a downloadable version for Garmins if you live in the USA. For some reason they will not ship to a Canadian Address. http://www.madmaps.com/roadtrips/categories/
  23. Thanks V7 Goose That is exactly what I was looking for.
  24. Just finished installing 2 new avon venoms stock size. I remember someone talking about what psi to put in the tires for the best all round performance but I can not find the post. Anybody lead me in the right direction. Thanks
  25. Ok everyone I am confused about tires. The Avon Fitment guide says Venoms Front 150/80-16 71H Rear 150/90B-M/C 80H Southwest Moto list a AM41 150/80 HB-16 for the front and a AM42 150/90 HB-15 for the rear All sites I have looked at do not mention the load rating of the tires they carry. With some saying that they do not get the milage that some get I wonder if they are not getting the 80H for the rear which I am pretty sure is the load rating for the tire. Also what does the B stand for in the tire size??? So what tires are you guys ordering???
