  1. Check this out... http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=330210526670&ssPageName=STRK:MEAFB:IT More toys for your scoot.....
  2. I know this isn't about bikes but I just have to share.... Firstly I want to point out that here in Canada we refer to blacks as "The Black Community". We don't say "African American" as you do in the US. It's not intended to be a slur just a difference in how we refer to this group. (just so you understand) So now... Starting in the 2009 School year Toronto Ontario will now have black only schools, and guess who has insisted on this..??? The Black Community itself. They no longer wish to attend schools with other groups. They want their own education system and some in the Black Community have gone as far to say they also want their own all black companies. I'm speachless.....
  3. Could I ask why in hell you would buy Metslers with all the problems listed on this site relative to those tires? The splits, the blowouts, the poor performance. I suspect you have yet another bad Metzler tire. We have all found Avon to be a superior tire. You may want to try them.
  4. I have dealt with TriWing and found they have a gal that works there answering the phone and Emails that is one of those women you run into every so often that just seems to hate the world. I asked her what gear ratios they provide and other questions and all I received were short snap answers. I called back a couple of days later with more questions and happened to get a man... don't know who... didn't ask the name, but my questions were answered wonderfully. I'm afraid I agree with Hagmaster that no business needs these kind of people. Try to talk to a management person and see if you get the same response.
  5. Maybe we could also list those things motorcyclists do that annoy car drivers. Like, riding down the white line in heavy stop and go traffic passing everyone and cutting in and out between the cars. Passing a school bus while it's stopped, signals flashing, at a railway crossing. Riding slowly, three abreast, on a two lane road making everyone else get out of the way. 100 bikes on a ride all riding in a long formation at 20 kms under the speed limit with no gaps so there's no way anyone can pass them. I could go on but I just want to point out that folks on bikes can upset car drivers to the point that they may not be as nice as they could be because they think that if folks on bikes are ignorant then so can the car driver. It's the tit-for-tat mentality. Someone has to make the first move to be polite.... I propose that the bike enthusiasts put their best foot forward for all our sakes no matter what. Continued hostility only leads to more hostility.
  6. Does it sometimes not start the bike and sometimes it's Ok? Charging is erratic? I'm going to take a big wild guess here... the battery has a short in it. You might take it back to were you bought it and ask them to put in on their machine to check it. If they do it will say it's not charged but then they won't be able to charge it. The machine will say it's too hot. If it's a kid running the machine you're screwed because he won't know what to do. If it's an experienced person he'll know the battery is bad. Even if it's brand new. I might be right... I might be wrong. I tried..
  7. Yup, these are the RoadKrome I was refering to.. $75 and they sound really cool. Actually, they're cheaper up here... that's $75 CDN. The only drawback to this model is you can't repack them. They have another model where you can.
  8. There's no aftermarket turn downs... I've tried everything. I have the same problem with the MTC Voyager. The OEM exhaust blows against the back plate and reverbs back on the rider as do the fumes. I ended up getting 4 inch turn down tips from a Kenworth truck centre. I didn't weld them, I just put a self taping screw in them on the top under the bag where you see it. They're big but they fit. I also discussed this with the Diamond R folks and hoped they'd market something but it didn't happen. Another thing you can try is a set of Roadkrome turn down slip ons. They're $75 each from Motovan. At 24 1/2 inches long the tips end at the rear of the saddle bags. Out of the way, and blow on the road. They give a deep rumble sound. Cheap and impersonal.
  9. I usually take the wheel off the bike myself and take in to a guy in Napanee who has a little bike shop. His name is Doug... never did know his last name.... I bought a new front tire, walked in to his shop and said Hi Doug.. handed him the new tire and the wheel with the old tire on it and said I'm going to to john.... (I just had to tinkle).... when I came out he handed me the wheel with the new tire on it and said that's $20. Now that's fast... (turns out he has a machine.. zip zip..)
  10. I've experimented with opening the air box before. The usual result with carbs is that when you hit half throttle you lose power. The engine can't get enough fuel to mix with the air and the engine bogs down and you lose power. The solution is to richen the mixture which defeats the mpg increase scenario, or to plug the holes back up. I haven't seen any improvement in either direction. The only improvement I've seen it to use the Colortune and Carbtune to properly setup the engine. That said I'm getting 46mpg on a UK gallon with the Voyager kit and 2 up. I get 43 when I add the trailer. If you have an engine with fuel injection and an ECM you can open up the air box and the ECM will compensate for you but as long as you have carbs you're stuck with manual adjustments.
  11. The 20 inches doesn't bother me to much as the OEM slip-ons interfere with the Voyager rear suspension and I'd like the shorter pipes. I was wondering if the sound was like the OEM pipes as I don't want it too noisy but it seems like no one has ever used them so I guess I'm on my own. Thanks anyway though guys....
  12. Have any of you used the: Helix Racing Products Universal Turnout Muffler - 20" Muffler With Steel Core Sold at the South Seattle Yamaha Sports Plaza..?? http://images.motorsportdealers.com/common/MediaLibrary/CatalogImages/125/250/690338902.jpg Are they louder than stock? Do they fit easily? Tell me all you know before I go buy them... PLEASE.
  13. I'm big too, although my wife isn't, when we're loaded the bike used to say "get off.. get off" I'll almost guarantee the rear shock will leak oil on the floor of your garage within a year. Replace it with a Work Performance shock made to your own specs. It's wonderful. You can specify a weight for it to handle. The OEM Dunlop tires will take it no problem. Just keep the pressure at max. The front can handle up to 761 lbs and the rear 827 lbs. I would advise upgrading when they wear out to either the Elite which is rated for 770 front and 910 rear. Another option is the Avon Venom which is higher again 827 front and 1016 rear. Other than that... everything else will be fine. I'd also suggest you keep everything you can in a trailer. Keep the weight off the bike as much as you can except for the two of you of course. If your wife annoys you on a trip then you can put her in the trailer too...
  14. Rubber stops..???? You're luck you had them. my bike didn't come with any stops. I had to install them myself after reading about it on here. Actually I ended up buying the Diamond R chrome ones... they look REAL COOL.
  15. VE3VHE here.. I've just used a portable. Never mounted anything on the bike.
  16. Can someone tell me what is the difference between the Avon Venom MT90HB-16 and the Avon Venom MT90H-16?? I know the B is for Bias... what the hell is the blank for??
  17. Has anyone thought of, or done any mods to the front of the bike like increase the angle to improve the steering???
  18. I'm looking for a smooth billet breather covers for the 2nd Gen. like those pictured below. Part number: STR-4NK27-15-01 http://www.psndealer.com/dealersite/images/ec0268/STR-4NK27-15-01.jpg Please Email me if you know of a source other than the $150 price I keep seeing. Thanks...
  19. The thing about changing the read end is that it affects ALL of the gears in the transmission not just the overdrive. I've often thought that our RSV is too low in all gears and I'd be very interested in this. I'd like the engine to rev higher in all gears. Easier take off, easier around town and I don't think the fuel economy will be effected all that much.
  20. Just saw this... Be careful of that wobble. I had a V65Magna a few years back when they where new and I was too... it also developed a wobble at times and one afternoon I was going southbound on Hwy 10 at 200 kph and it started and threw me off. I slid down the road and ended up under a guard rail. Spent the next many months in hospital with a hole in my back from sliding down the road and a caved in head... which still looks creapy so the kids tell me. A wobble can kill, so be damn careful. It's not to be toyed with. A good quality shimmy dampener will stop it cold and if it's a continuing problem I suggest you install one.
  21. I kept saying they are great... the OEM isn't even close and they keep on blowing.
  22. NEVRDULL will also polish up the aluminium like new. It's a wadding product made just for that. Also I've found AUTOSOL does a great job. It's a liquid.
  23. Check it out: http://www.ldrider.ca/BCroutes/bcrides.html
  24. Richard McDonald has set out several trips around Ottawa and the surrounding area also. Check out his information here: http://www.themcdonalds.net/richard/bike/rides.shtml
