  1. I'm selling it on ebay, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motorcycles___2007-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Venture-w-Garmin-550-XM-Radio_W0QQitemZ160318504459QQddnZMotorcyclesQQddiZ2283QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_motorcycles?hash=item160318504459&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245&_trkparms=72%3A317%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318. I really do not want to but have to. I love my bike and just got it to where I wanted it but like I put in the description, my wife is pregnant and I can't afford the bike payment and a new baby and I just tore a tendon that holds part of the quadracept to the knee cap so I will not be able to walk for 6-9 months, let alone ride. I am throwing everything in, I will not be buying a new bike for a while so I see no reason to keep anything I have now and I don't feel like selling everything seperatly. So if you're looking for a great bike or know anyone who is please check it out. Any questions please let me know.
  2. The GXM-30 adds XM Radio, XM Traffic, and XM Weather to the Zumo 550(all for a nominal fee:innocent:) I have this set up on my bike with all the added features and am very happy with it. The traffic tells you if and where there is a traffic problem in front of you on your route, tells you how much longer it will make your trip, and can offer you a way around it if the slow down will be to long. The Weather tells you what the weather is where you are with a forcast and what the weather is where your going with a 3 (or 5, can't remember right now) day forcast. It can also show you a map of an entire area (in my case So. Cal. inland) and what the weather is around you with temps etc. I use to have Sirius on my bike and was very happy with it, but like said before the reception was not the greatest, but it was never as bad as some of the others have said, never once did I lose reception unless I was in the mountains. I do like the channels way better on Sirius and I am really missing them now that I have XM. For 2Whlsrollin, a RAM mount will work perfectly to mount the sirius, the bolt-on holes on the Sirius unit line up with the holes on the RAM mount and there is ample room on the handlebars to mount it. I ran my wires through the fairing and had the antenae mounted in the small space between the windshield and fairing with velcro. Remember, to get the best sound you will want to add an audio cable to connect the Sirius directly to the sound system, not go through the FM Tuner, there is a tech page on the site on how to add the cable inside the fairing. Hope this helps.
  3. I just wanted to let everyone here know that I have my Garmin 450 on Ebay. Just like the posting says, it's in perfect condition, used last spring break on a 1000mi San Francisco trip and a few times in the car around town. The unit also comes with a car kit with car power chord, and a 2gb Sandisk high speed SD card. If anyone has any questions please let me know. Item # is :160265176054 Link (I hope) is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160265176054&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123.
  4. I had "chrome" covered bulbs on my Nomad with clear lenses from Clear Alternatives and they worked just fine. When the bike was off it looked like the signals were just chrome inside but when you turned on the power they would lite up amber. They were not as bright as original but were not dangerously dim IMO.
  5. I believe you mean Plasma or LCD, both of which are HDTV compatable. I suggest going to www.cnet.com, they have work ups of alot of T.V.'s with their own personal ratings, I have used them totaly and they have never done me wrong. I just bought a 50 Plasma from Costco, the Panasonic TH-50PC77u. I love it. (It's the same as the 50px77u that is reveiwed on cnet, just has a different letter because it is a costco only product). As for which to go for, LCD or Plasma.... cnet has a write up about all the pro's and con's, I think Plasma is the better way to go for now, but LCD is catching up fast.
  6. I'm a pretty large guy (6'3", 305lbs) and my wife is a big girl and with us loaded for a weekend trip I know we are pretty well over the "max weight" of the bike as stated in the owners manuel. What damage am I doing to the bike, and is there something that could break because of this that could potentialy cause an accident from mechanical failure. And, is there anything I could do to strengthen the bike so I get as many problem free miles out of it as possible. (BTW, I had over 55,000 miles on my Nomad, half of which were 2 up, with no (known) problems)
  7. It doesn't matter how fast I drive, 2 up or single, freeways or backroads, I always average about 38mpg. Thats incredibly good compared to my old Nomad that averaged about 30mpg, and that would fluctuate from 28-32. I'm a pretty BIG Guy and my wife is a big girl, but just the other night, went for a 4 hour night ride in the mountains, we got 38mpg. The tank before that was all freeway 80-95mph and got 38mpg. I'm happy!
  8. Ok, I feel better now. Thank you all for your replies.
  9. I noticed a few small dark drips under my bike and when I investigated I saw that they are oil drips, and they are comming from one of the tubes that just end under the bike. The other bikes I have had have all had these tubes and none of them have dripped oil before. This is a 2007 Venture and only has a few thousand miles on it and I'm not happy. Hopefully someone here will let me know whats going on and if it's something I should be concerned about and if I should take it back to the dealer for repair.
  10. From some posts I read on VROC when I had my Nomad, up to 10% is within specs and no dealer will change this. I bought something very similar by Black Robotics called The Little Yellow Box and it was an easy splice in and a breeze to set, just toggle switches anywhere from I think .25% mph to 18% mph. On the Nomad the speedo and Odo are running off the same wire so the odo went up 10% also.... and if you have been guaging your miles per gallon by dividing the miles by gallons, your mpg should be 10% worse.
