  1. Going to be a long work week .... Really just a shameless bump ...
  2. My wife and I are heading to Springfield, MO this next W/E. Does anyone know of a VERY GOOD BBQ place down there? I would like to try so real Southern BBQ, to see if it is any different from what we have in Omaha, NE. Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well. We are hitting Branson for a day or two next week to check out the Baldknobbers also. I've never seen a stage show before and friends have told me that I will really enjoy that show. craigr
  3. I've been making saw dust in a serious manner for 30 years and have been playing at it since high school in 1958. Well I let my guard down this afternoon for just a mili-second and believe me, that's all it takes. I know exactly how I did it, it was stupid - just dumb a$$ STUPID - Fortunately, it'll just require reconstructive surgery, an out patient thing I'm told, but none the less, I'll be NOT riding the bike for a week or so - maybe longer. I just knicked the bone but obliterated the tendon - the Dr. said that can be fixed. That's a good thing, the down side is I don't know how involved it will be. BTW - I was working on furniture for a show this fall.
  4. My bike with 17k miles has developed a spongy clutch lever problem and bike won't go into neutral. This has all happened in less than a week. Don't see any leaks and clutch reservoir is full. Any thoughts?
  5. hello i will be in helen ga the week of july 4th the wife booked a cabin for the week i told her she was crasy if she thought i was going to the mt's with out the bumble bee i may only get to ride i or two days so if anyone wants to meet up to ride let me know i am not sure yet what days i can ride but i will ride bumble bee kevin wisor jax fl
  6. For any that may be wondering.... I'm still here, just up to my neck in doctors! Saw the neurologist and ENT this morning for test results. I have major nerve damage in my right arm, mild/moderate in my left arm/elbow. No cure for it but time and pain medicine. He isn't sure I will ever recover completely, though he won't come out and say it. So I am now just playing the waiting game. As for my head, structurally everything is in place but the ENT said I had obvious signs of head trauma. Being thrown over a Nissan Altima after being hit head on seems to cause that. I'm a fighter so I will continue on. I see the orthopedic doctor next week and may ask to go back to work. Honestly I don't know if I can handle it, but there is only one way to find out. Thanks for all your continued thoughts and prayers, they are very much appreciated! Be careful out there!!! Ben
  7. Made it home this evening about 2:30PM from Don's MD, what a long ride back home. Think I took a wrong turn:confused24:. What a wonderful week. A nice ride up with Brad, Lonna, and Boomer, then a beautiful ride thru Penn., Va, and Maryland with Jrichard and Patricia (thanks again) and them putting up with Beth and I and for giving us a tour of Washington DC. Then on to Skyline Drive and down the Blueridge then over the Cerohala to Tellico Tn to my aunts house. Total about 2833 miles. We had a great week and :95:now back to work. Some pics later.
  8. Quick one here. I need to grease and change fluids on the rear end before a trip in a week and a half. Is this the best step by step to follow? http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=69
  9. sorry it took so long. Its been a long week back at work. http://s569.photobucket.com/albums/ss133/painterman6709/2010%20MD%20and%20%20blue%20ridge%20%20parkway%20ride/?start=0 David
  10. Hiya again all! Stitch here, heading out on my first real good ride on my new (used) '86 VR, but ran into something today not encountered yet. The CLASS worked once when I tried it and I haven't tried it since until today cause I know I need to do front fork seals next week. Anyway... I put the ign into ACC tonight and the whole darn display lit up (all of the functions illuminated at the same time) and it's "flickering"... checked connections quickly and everything looks good on the back, no error codes, and it hasn't been played with since I bought it except once... I'm and bit baffled. Also if anyone could please e-mail me the link someone sent me last week of a good source for parts i.e. windscreen I would greatly appreciate it (I can't find the thread again...Eeeek!) Well gotta run back out to the garage and see if I can tinker with it a bit and get it figured out while I wait for the real answer from someone... wish me luck! Kelly
  11. next week I get my carbs rebuilt and back tire put on.... then do regular fluid maintenance, rerun a few wires for brakes and turn signals, then at least I can ride a little... then next month I will get my new progress fork springs. I will also get new brake pads next week. This bike sat up for 7 years in a barn before I got it so I didnt really expect the carbs to come clean but was sure hoping so... at least this way I know they will be all they can be. In the mean time my honda v65 sabre will be getting a new fairing. I found an orignal hondaline fairing that orignally came on a sabre my same color. Cant wait for all of it to come together.
  12. Hey guys, I've been looking for a link telling about a young girl on the back of a GSXR 750 that fell off and stayed in thew hospital for several months. This was posted within the last week. Can any of you give me the link? I can't seem to find it.
  13. > I developed a slow leak in my front Avon Tire this Spring and have been adding some air about once a week. This past week I had my local dealer replace my rear tire and had him take a look into my front tire leak, what he found was a white corosion on my rims, he polished them out with a rotary wire brush and that seems to have taken care of my leak. I was sold on the Ride On Tire Sealant untill now, but I am not planning on putting it back in my tires because of the corosion problems. I was wondering if any other members are having the same problem........Jack " Keep The Shinny Side Up and the Rubber Side Down....."
  14. I have a 98 RSTC and purchased a set of 98 RK pipes last week, new take-offs and a set of V-twin chrome clamps. I will make some brackets to hold the new pipes in-place. My question is, where do I actually make the cut to remove the stock pipes? Is there a thread or post that shows the place. I don't want to screw this part up. What type of cutting device did you guys use? lesrub@aol.com Thanks Les
  15. I see at the MSF state law list that several states (delaware, new jersey, aand vermont) require reflectorization on the lid. What does this mean. How big?, front or back or both? I'm headin' your way next week to fill in a bunch of my map and get a saddle bag from Jonesy at Americade later that week. I don't want to spend any of my vacation time explanin' my lack of knowledge to a cop. Thanks for the help, Scooter Bob
  16. Well added another light to the back of the trailer, made a toolbox, & cooler holder for the front. And got everything all shiny clean. Were almost packed and we're heading out in the morning. Headed to North carolina for a week and half. Visiting daughter and camp a few days on the outer banks. Planning on swinging thru the dragon on the way back. & Happy Memorial day everyone! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/Hazenson/2010/th_100_3751.jpg?t=1274997671 http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v405/Hazenson/2010/th_100_3754.jpg?t=1274997671

  18. Good Morning everybody - What an experience, all inclusive vacation, got here yesterday and have done nothing but relax and let people wait on us. we've got a fishing trip planned and hopefully I'll luck into a sailfish or at minimum a nice tuna. I'm happy I don't have the Venture 'cause I'd want to go riding and that could turn sour real quick. gonna be hard to leave next week.
  19. "SEE THE USA WITH THE AVA" The adventure on the Venture continues. http://www.photoshow.com/watch/ry4Yz6Bh We did some great rides this week. Looks as if next week will not be a good time to ride Enjoy Phill
  20. Had a good ride Sunday. Went to Victoria for the "Ride for Dad" to raise funds for prostate cancer research. They had about 800 bikes and raised over $100,000.00 for research. They closed the streets through Victoria so we could run out to Ogden point then start the poker run through Saanich. My three queens weren't even in the running. On average two men a week die of prostate cancer just on Vancouver Island, in Canada it is 12 per week. The numbers have to be much higher in the US just due to higher population. There are about 20 cities in Canada that have this run. They are expecting about 2000 bikes in Vancouver next week. Get that PSA test every year, it can save your life, it saved mine.
  21. I've got to say.....some weeks are meant to be forgotten. This was one of them. Like they say.....When it rains..... it pours. Lets see...where to begin? I guess the trivial stuff should be first. Rain.....lots of rain. I got rid of my Wally World burners this spring and installed a nice pair of 4 1/2 chrome driving lights with visors and amber lights on my '84. Looked really sharp and did a nice job. I had Squidlys light brackets and he even modified the brackets that the brackets mount onto to beef them up to deal with the bigger light. The problem was after about 500 miles the vibration just beat the elements out of them. Too big of a light with not enough support. Installed new clear bulbs and lost both of them in less than 200 miles. Back to the Wally World burners until I figure out another way to mount them. My full time job informed me that my hours would be restricted to 40 hours a week. Weird. I've been with this company for five years and they keep adding extra duties that have been keeping me around 48 hours a week for the last four years. So I asked the the question, "Who's going to do the rest my job?" Go figure......they did my performance review and I didn't score so well on "Attitude". SURPRISE! LOL! My part time job notified me that they are cutting my hours by 75%. Lets see.....that should almost pay for the gas it takes to drive to and from work. Oh! Hey! I'm on the bike! I can still make a few bucks! About $20.00 a week! Somebody just tell me not to bother coming in anymore. Please? More rain...... River Roads are holding up well. My car has been setting a lot as I've been on the bike every chance I get since I got it back together. I guess it was feeling neglected as the day I really wanted to drive it because of the "heavy rain" it decided not to start. Took a day to figure that out and a rather pricey module to fix it. Seemed the sensor was cracked and did not like the moist conditions. I used to have a Ford wagon that could predict rain 3 days in advance. Got rid of that one. Hummm..... So a week ago I sit down to my trusty 'puter to take care of some bills and do my thing in cyberspace and I get the message, "HARD DRIVE IS UNSTABLE, BACKUP NOW". Wow! Ok. I'm on that........wait.....how much time do I have? Not so much I guess. Second backup disk into the process it just dies. Pull the hard drive and it's gone meltdown. I suppose some of you know how much time goes into replacing a hard drive and reinstalling the system and doing the restore and the backup and well....ya know. But I'm here today. Whew! So today was my special day. Had the afternoon off because on the hours being cut back. Ok that's cool. Nice day out.....mid 60's......blue sky......wind was mild... for a change. So what to do? RIDE!!!! I'm getting the bike out and gearing up to head out and my daughter rolls in. She actually asked if she could go with me. What the hey? She's 18.... she never wants to hang with dad anymore. Something fishy here.....but I'm not going to pass on spending some time with her. Grab your gear kid.....let's roll! And we are off........ Hit the back highways and enjoying the day. Ran across a custom car show......and she actually knew what some of the cars were! That might explain the copy of Hot Rod I found in her room. Found a BBQ place and fed our faces. I'm looking for ice cream next. But we were rolling down the highway about 65 mph and I catch a bit of movement at the bottom of my vision as something flipped up in front of the tank cover and slid down into my lap. No biggie....a piece of a leaf......maybe some sort of road debris.....not worried. YET! A few miles down the the road I catch another movement. On my leg, actually crawling up my leg....well....between my legs. Took me a moment to identify it but when I did I had to muster some control. Now I don't know how many of you guys have ever had a Wolf spider settle in on your "Berries and Twig" at 65 mph but it is a bit unsettling to say the least. It's a nice one to, about 2 inches across on the leg span. And it's holding it front legs up! I guess it was checking for wind speed. Or it's pissed off. I bet on pissed off. So I know that if I even mutter the word "Spider" my daughter will be getting off the bike at any speed. She would! Hates spiders! Me.......I'm trying to figure out how to get off the bike without kicking my daughter in the head. I'm not all that fond of them either and not under those conditions. So mustering my self control I rode it out with a wolf spider waving at traffic in my lap until I got to a get off and pulled into a town and stopped at the traffic light. With a firm but demanding flick of a finger I sent the little fellow off to another location. Now....I didn't mean for it to happen the way it did but the lil fellow found a new ride. The window on the car next to me was open and he just went right on in. Not planned. Just happened. As the light changed and I pulled away I could hear the screaming. I saw my daughters head spin around to look and she tapped me on the helmet and asked me if I heard them screaming. "Yep, Pumpkin....I did.....maybe they found a spider." I didn't tell her what happened and don't plan on it either. I'd never get her back on the bike again....ever! So that was my week. But I'm feeling much better now. Supposed to be in the 70's tomorrow and blue skys again. More therapy......after I check the bike REALLY good for hitch hikers. Ya'll ride safe and be kind to animals. Never leave one stranded away from home. Make sure they have a ride. Mike
  22. Put the scoot through her paces this morning with my RLAP routine....That clutch job that kbran did this week really makes the difference!!! Boomer.....who had the pygmies in the parking lot climbing the light poles.
  23. OK, DQ fans! This week only: buy a Blizzard and get another one for a quarter!http://email.secureserver.net/view_print_multi.php?uidArray=170580%7CINBOX&aEmlPart=0http://email.secureserver.net/view_print_multi.php?uidArray=170580%7CINBOX&aEmlPart=0
  24. I rec'd this email today from Martin at Sirius:Can you stop the add for a week or two or just mention we are already sold out...we have about 100 more coming soon and I will let you know they are back in stock...getting flood of e-mails from your club already. Said he expects it to be a week or two before he gets more inventory, and he will let me know as soon as that happens. I'll post that info here when I get it. Guess we are keeping them busy!
  25. Just wondering if anyone is gonna be at the Outter Banks bike week this week. I have some business in VA on Wednesday and Im gonna take a slight detour on my way. I'll make that my lunch stop. I'll be coming from Jacksonville, NC.
