  1. For the last several weeks, we have had beautiful springtime weather, sunny with highs in the mid 70's, until the weekends comes around. We have another wet cool weekend with rain and guess what, next Monday thru Friday is expected to be sunny with temps back to the mid to upper 70's. This seems to be the third weekend in a row with rain. Ok, I am done whining about the weather, for now. RandyA
  2. I've noticed on several individual's post they have a "weather box" from other web sites like weatherunderground, etc. My question is how can I add this to my post's. I've searched the FAQ and tried to follow instructions from the weather web sites on how to do this but to no avale. My computer skillls appear to be lacking as to how to complete this, what I'm sure is a simple task. Please point me in the right direction....somebody. Thanks.
  3. If the weekend weather looks ok. ( I don't like cold weather at all) Leaving Melbourne after work on the 24th probably get to Jacksonville and finishing on the 25th. Not crazy about buzzing on the interstate all the way. Looking at taking 1 out of Jacksonville - looking at 1 thru Waycorss to Lumber to Dublin 441 to Eatonton to 129 to I20 to hwy 81 to SR20 to Lawrenceville.... Anyone been on these roads or have other recommendations. Too much for one day?
  4. Found My bike leaking AF at night during cold weather. Also had a slight oder when riding I could not locate. Finally found it. There is a small rubber seal behind the false heads. It seems to seep during cold weather. I seem to remember seeing it here on the site before. Don't remember what they did . I took and put 3 layers of duct tape on the button that pushes the seal in and it seems to have solved the problem.
  5. :mo money:I am looking at buying a hot weather jacket. So far I am looking at the Joe Rocket Phoenix 4.0 Mesh Jacket and the Tourmaster Draft-Air Mesh Jacket. The Motorcycle Super store has a great price on these. Anyone have any experience with these jackets and this store?
  6. started riding the bikes again this week. the gas prices are rediculous. cost me $50.00 to fill my ranger truck the other day. i can sure beat them arabs. the truck is going to sit in the garage alot more now that the weather is breaking. it's 58 degrees out there and i'm getting ready for a late night ride to work. makes work alot more enjoyable. this is the nastiest wettest winter we have had since the 70's. it's supposed to rain the next 5 days so i will have to help the arabs again for awhile. summer is just over the horizen. can't wait.
  7. Every thing is on hold. I'm not going to do anything until I get around tuit. Every hear that expression? I thought spring was here but every weekend it's more of that white partly cloudy. I have so many jobs backed up it's not funny. I got 19 locust post in the ground with 30 more to go. I should of had that job done by now but it's either rain or snow on the weekends. Seems like nice pretty days through the week and got to go work. We went yesterday in the snow and bought our electric entrance stuff for temp power at the camp over $500. That job is after the fire pit and the fence job. My 86 is still waiting to be parted out but the mud is so deep no way to get it on the center stand much less decent weather to start. Momamo has rose bushes and apple trees waiting in line. I hope retirement is not like this. I bet it would rain or snow 7 days a week. This week the boss said we was up for recertification so spending spare time study for an exam the end of the month. I just put my rocky gortex boots on going down to the camp to walk around and dream of better weather. Sorry guys looking at the clock every 30 minutes is getting old.I drunk a pot of coffee this morning 2:00 am studying for that exam. When this weather does break and I get caught up me and the 84 have some time coming.

  10. I know a lot of you guys and gals State-side are suffering through some potent cold snaps. Without rubbing it in at all, I thought I'd just let you know that tomorrow my pillion-in-a-million and I are doing a 600kms round trip (overnighter) to visit my parents. They're both in their 80s and have no idea we are coming. Going to spring a surprise on them. And the weather forecast for the next few days? Overnight minima of 14degC and daytime maxima of 28degC (82degF). Couldn't ask for more than that. See you when we get back. :)

    Why I Love Ontario ...

It's winter in Ontario And the gentle breezes blow, 70 miles per hour at 52 below! Oh, how I love Ontario When the snow's up to your butt. You take a breath of winter air And your nose is frozen shut. Yes, the weather here is wonderful, I guess I'll hang around. I could never leave Ontario, 'Cause I'm frozen to the ground.
  12. Who Is That Person Behind The Wheel? Truckers are found on highways, in truckstops, in service bays, on loading docks, on back roads and at fuel stops, and often they are the first at the scene of an accident. Their wives help them. Little boys follow them. Relatives don't understand them. Meals must wait for them. Weather can delay them. But nothing can stop them. A trucker is a paradox. He is a blue-jeaned executive with his office in the cab. He is a scientist who hauls dangerous chemicals and explosives, a purchasing agent in a baseball cap, a personnel director with grease under his fingernails, a poor eater with a fondness for burgers and fries, a student of geography and a weather watcher. He likes sunshine, children, smooth pavement, good traction, clean loads, dinner at home, weekends with his family, an unbuttoned shirt collar and country music. And there is a special place in his heart for his rig. He's not fond of city traffic, tourists who are rotten drivers, fuel prices, dispatchers, snarly recievers, kids in high-powered cars and least of all, drunk drivers. Nobody else can get as much satisfaction out of talking about trucks, truckers, good weather, homemade pie, strong hot coffee, kids, wives, sweethearts and the price of fuel. He is your friend and customer. He is your source of food, clothing, petroleum and natural resources. In fact, nearly everything in your life arrived in his truck. And when he comes home late at night after a long and tiring trip, the energy sapped from his hopes and dreams, he can be lifted up once more by those magic words, "DADDY'S HOME!" If you got it, a trucker brought it!

  14. Anybody want to meet for a late lunch..........weather is fantastic.............perfect for riding........:rotf: Newnan, Ga..............
  15. The weather, which has been beautiful here in the SE for the last few weeks is becoming more like it should be in Jan. Temps here this weekend will hit the 20's and and further north, like in SC, NC, etc, will have temps in the lower 20's with freezing rain/ice. We already had several cancellations and I sure dont want to see anyone have an incident while trying to come her in bad weather. I will reschedule this when it warms up a bit. The original intent was to help me build a deck, but since I hired someone to put down concrete pavers instead, we just decided to make it a regular type of M&E. I sure do appreciate everyone who was willing to help with this project and like I said, I will host something here at the house when the temps warm up a bit.
  16. I'm looking out the window at the snow falling and am happy as heck that I got out on my bike yesterday. Weather was clear and in the high 40's. Here in the Mid-West, the weather can and will change overnight so when these opportunities come up I take full advantage of it.

    Sac Weather

I have an chance to do some school in the Sacramento area three weekends starting on Feb 22. What is the weather like this time of year? I have an Aunt who lives there but they don't ride. How bad is the fog and how well are the roads kept up? The class is in Rocklin and do they get ice there? Thanks Rod
  18. Had a problem with my iWAY 350C shutting off after about a half hour of operation in hot weather. Unit is mounted on a RAM handlebar mount. Others here noted the same problem. Some linked it to heat, others to vibration. I contacted Lowrance and sent them copies of the messages on this board showing others had had similar problems. Got a return authorization even though my unit had been out of warranty a few months. They received it and sent a note back saying they'd send it to engineering for test and evaluation. I responded thanking them for their offer but asked them to send it back "as is" and I would limit its use to my truck and get a specific unit for motorcycles (the iWAY is not weather proof). The next thing in this sequence is a new 350C was delivered by UPS--no charge. Of course, I can't verify the malady is fixed until hot weather arrives, but just wanted to post this note to let everyone know what a great customer service operation Lowrance is. If you're having problems with their products, I highly recommend you contact them. Nothing to lose except a few minutes at the keyboard or on the phone.

  20. from the frozen wonderland of Hayward, WI. We are having a great time here. Lot's of good food, lots of snow, lots of COLD. It is truly beautiful though and we are really enjoying it. The company resort has lots to do. A nice lodge with pool table, foosball, air hockey, ping pong, etc. Lot's of snowmobiles free to us to use all we want and thousands of acres to ride. The drive up here wasn't too bad. Hit some fairly heavy snow showers about 50 miles before we got here but wasn't too bad. Ended up taking about 12 hours to get here. 755 miles and could have made it a bit quicker if the weather hadn't turned somewhat bad. We will be here all week and plan to head home next Saturday. Hope you all have a wonderful New Years and that everybody be smart and safe. I'm not getting online very often but am trying to check messages once per day. Don

  24. I just bought 2 of these jackets. 1 XL for me and 1 WLG for the wife. For anyone looking for a great 3 season all weather jacket, I would highly recommend it. Honda of east Toledo has them at their ebay store for $239 which is the cheapest I could find it anywhere. They list for $299. New Enough has them for $269. I got ours from Honda of east Toledo and would recommend doing business with them. Here's a link and no I do not have any financial interest in them or Firstgear.-Jack http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FIRSTGEAR-Kilimanjaro-4-0-Jacket-BK-GY-LGT_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6750QQihZ017QQitemZ270186931871QQtcZphoto Here's a rundown on the Jacket. The Kilimanjaro 4.0 jacket is the fourth generation in a jacket that has been a favorite among commuters and touring riders for years. The main things that set this jacket apart are the full-coverage 3/4 length design and the extensive storage built into the jacket. A 3/4 length style like this can provide great coverage from the elements, especially in cold weather. The main zipper of the jacket is “two way” meaning you zip it up normally from the bottom, but you can also raise a second zipper slider from the bottom which will help with comfort when sitting on a bike in the riding position (you’ll know what I’m trying to say when you try it out). The storage system on this jacket is fantastic. I count at least seven pockets, including large cargo storage pockets on front that have little organizing features built in as well. Plenty of room for all your touring needs. For cold weather, you get a removable full-sleeve thermal liner. The liner is a great design since it serves as a light casual jacket when removed. This dual-purpose capability is handy for those with limited packing space. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see what I mean about the liner design. When the weather warms up, you can leave the liner out and use the zippered vents (two in front and one in back). For crash protection, you get a full set of CE approved armor. The armor is a combination of firm plastic covered in a soft foam material. It’s very substantial and should provide good protection in case of a fall. The back armor is a soft flexible “memory foam” type armor.
  25. I have the Barron's risers and am not happy. So I'm looking at getting some bars and doing a mod over the bad weather. Anyone have some good pics of the bars installed, showing them from the side and year? I'd like to see what they look like installed.
