  1. AS was suggested, I tried get a feel for my vibration issue I talked to the dealer today. They said it would be a 1hr to 1 1/2 hr to do the job. I was trying to get an idea if it's under warranty...nothing said to that. I also was told that my vibration issues would not likely be solved by a carb sync. What say yea all?
  2. My warranty on my rsv has just expired on the last day of the year 2009, and i have had several warranty repairs completed over the years, as i have on my other yamaha products. On any warranty repair that is completed by the manufacture, it will generate a survey to the consumer, that asks all the questions about product quality, sales, service, parts ect... and as for myself being in the service end of dealerships over the past few dacades, i know that these surveys can affect the pocketbook of any and all of the dealership personell and even the dealership owners cost per unit from the manufacture in the way of employee insentive$ and reward programs. With that in mind, i have always given my dealer a 100% satisfied survey on each repair over the past many many years, even when things may not have gone completly perfect. In all of the many surveys and years, i have never recieved anything from the manufacture "yamaha" in the way of a "thank you"........untill now?? Yamaha just sent me a package that contained a very nice letter, thanking me for filling out my surveys and along with the letter was a new yamaha blue.. apple ipod nano!! maybe them surveys dont take too long to fill out huh? who woulda thunk it?
  3. Does anyone have experience with rear shock being covered under warranty for the groan? Mine just started this and I have about two mos. left of coverage. Thanks, Ebabe
  4. Does anyone know of a chain store where I could buy a Zumo 550? Living in Canada I'm nervous about buying on line in case of warranty problems etc. Cross border shipping suks too.
  5. Found a puddle of coolant on the garage floor, It is running down from the Head area of the right back cyclinder. Took it to dealer and it will be approx a week before they get to it, service manger said he have to wait until the tech breaks it down to see if the warranty covers it ?????????. Is there any reason they shouldn't cover it? the warranty is good until Aug 2010. they replaced the stator under warranty so I would it would cover the coolant leak 05 Venture
  6. Hi: Has anyone ever asked (or told) their dealer about installing the dyna 3000 and whether or not there were any warranty issues with this? Normally,.. I may just go ahead and install something like this but I have had some warranty issues recently and received some comments from Yamaha that led me to believe something like this may void the warranty.
  7. I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH A REP. FROM YAMAHA USA FROM CALIFORNIA, AND THE YOUNG LADY TELLS ME THAT THERE IS NO KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SHOCK FAILING ON THE 2ND GEN VENTURE OR THE TOUR DELUXE??? WHAT I AM REQUSTING FROM ANY MEMBER OR NON MEMBER HERE, IS A LIST OF VIN NUMBERS OF MACHINES THAT HAVE HAD THE REAR SHOCK FAIL, AND IF IT WAS COVERED BY YAMAHA OR IF IT WAS OUT OF POCKET? I DON'T HAVE TO HAVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION, JUST SERIAL NUMBERS OF THE FAILED BIKE. POST IT HERE OR SEND IT DIRECT TO MY E-MAIL royalstarventure03@yahoo.com thanks for your help, i would love to choke the dist. rep with a list of known failures and even better, if they were covered under warranty. mine has been replaced 3 times, and needs a 4th and my warranty ends at the end of this year and they don't want to help. any seat replacements and vin numbers would also be welcome thanks, mike/eusa1
  8. So I brought my RSV to the dealer for the broken windshield support (08 plenty of warranty left)... and they replace my inner and outer fairing under warranty... did a fine job. But I noticed that from lack of support and the windshield moving around, it had scratched the bottom edge of the windshield... and the chrome strip at the bottom of the windshield doesn't fit right. Sooo... I brought it back on a Saturday (45 minutes each way) and was told the warranty guy's not in today.. can you bring it back monday???? I politely explaind that would require me to take time off of work, and wasn't going to do that. so the tech left a note for the warranty guy. I just got off the phone w/him and he says " well the tech said there was a problem with the left side ( wich is crap, since the support was broken on both sides) and he has to wait to hear from YAMAHA to see if it will be covered, cause "that was a big claim.. over 1600 dollars"... is this how the program works??? I work at a Ford dealer, and WE determine if it'll be covered or not(to a point). Does this seem reasonable?? or should I start searching out another dealer to use.... Also , is there a phone number to get ahold of Yamaha if you're not satisfied with the service you recieve???
  9. :farmer:Thanks to this group I determined my left bank exhaut at the Y was cracked and will soon be repaired under warranty. For the last 7K miles I have been smelling exhaust more than normal, but I could not pick up the odor close to the head connections. Put my hand under the Y and low and behold the leak showed its ugly head. Had no other indication, ie noise, etc. Hope others will check as I did. My bike is an 05 liquid silver. Love it, love it. 14k miles and this is only warranty work.
  10. I lost my camera because the thumb screw came loose so I emailed the company and explained what happened and tried to get them to warranty it but they wouldn't because they said it was because the thumb screw came loose and that is not covered under the warranty. I kind of figured that but said hey it wouldn't hurt to try. They offered me a new camera for $84 and my pick of any accessory.
  11. Can anyone recommend a good dealer in the North Atlanta area to do warranty service work? I know of Lawrenceville Honda Yamaha, Cycle Nation of Canton, and Motions (in Marietta). I've visited them all in the past, and they all seemed nice, but I've never done service business with any, and the Lawrenceville store has a number of negative reviews online. We just bought an '06 Venture that has a problem with the radio (no lights or display whatsoever) and I'd like to get it looked at and fixed as a warranty item. The previous owner said his dealer told him the radio isn't covered under warranty, even though the owner's manual explicitly states that it is. I'm looking for a dealer with a good service department that won't give me grief about the warranty.
  12. My fuel pump got progressively worse on our ride to Sturgis, so I bypassed the pump to keep on the road. I knew there would be a few long distances between gas stations in a few areas, and was able to locate a pump from a crashed Royal Star. When we got back, I took the bad pump to the new Yamaha Dealer in Bakersfield. After explaining why I did not bring the bike in to have them diagnose the pump failure, Dennis said he would contact Yamaha and see if they would give me a new pump. Three days later, here I sit with a new one in my hand. A good shop, people who care, and a great warranty. I'm really liking Yamaha!!!
  13. In todays paper, I don't know know anything about it. 2008 RSV,2700 miles,lots of extras,still in warranty, $13,500. 251-675-8913, 251-455-3079. tew47
  14. Well, just got back from a great trip to Vogel and I see some oil coming from the rear shock. Couple of questions, am I correct that the material and labor should be covered by warranty, the bike is an 06 ? Second thing, would I be wise to remove the trailer hitch before the dealer sees it ?
  15. after talking to some of you guys and listing to talk about warranty i got to thinking way back when i bought the bike june of 08 i didnt receive any paper work on the warranty so i e-mail the place where i bought the bike and this is the response i got from them Here is the warranty info that you requested , at the time of sale to you we did not transfer the warranty into your name, this was an error on our end. This does not matter however as the warranty is on the bike and not the person. Today, I will have your information added to the owner record at Yamaha so that their records are up to date. When it is updated online I will forward you another copy of your owner registration card. Thanks i bought it in KC at RENO"S a real nice bunch to deal with.
  16. I have a 2005 RSV that purchased used on 07. It is under warranty until next year and I have transferred the warranty but I don't remember getting any information on the roadside assistance I've seen mentioned here. How can I tell if I have the coverage and get the number? Also, if I am not covered what are your recommendations for a Roadside Assistance plan? I have been looking at the plans from AMA and MRF, but would like feedback from those who have used the various plans. Thanks, Jim
  17. How do I know what is covered under the 5 year warranty and what isn't? My 05 RSTD is still under warranty (finally got my dealer to figure out it does indeed have a 5 year manufacturers warranty) and I THINK I have a front fork seal leaking. The manager claims that he called Yamaha and they told him that a fork seal is not covered under the warranty. Would like to call bull, but need some ammo. Also, would a leaking fork seal hold air?
  18. So I think the front fork seals are weeping on my bike. When I had it up on a lift there is an accumulated dirt/goo under the right fork. Went by my dealer, they verified that it is still under warrant (that took some doing), and supposedly called Yamaha and was told that fork seals are NOT covered under the 5 year warranty. Anybody know any different?
  19. Well the bike will be sent to the dealer at Sumter to fix the vacum leak under warranty. Fixed the helmet speakers on Wanderer's helmet too. http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y262/venturerider/Sleeperhawks%20Mechanic%20Mini%20MD%2020090613/
  20. '07 Venture with 25k on it...output shaft was coming out and it broke gears. Anyone heard of this happening before? It is covered under warranty, but I am concerned and wondered if it had happened to others.
  21. From first time I found this web site I have learned a lot about my bike a XVZ 1300 ctt. 22. I appologize up front as this may turn into a lengthy post, but I need advice from you all. Background; I bought my 07 RSTD late last year from a local dealer with a good rep. I was originally looking at a different Yamaha (1300 Tourer) and had fully researched it when I found my RSTD for the same sale price ($8,999). I figure it's late in 08 and they need to get the 07 off the floor so they are offering a great deal. I couldn't pass it up so I got the RSTD. When I was doing my financing, the 'finance guy' offered my an extened warranty that would cover the bike for 48 months after the 12 month factory warranty ran out. I had no clue that the Royal Star was supposed to have a 5 year factory warranty (which I learned later from this site and verified in my owners manual), so I bought the extended warranty. Left that day showing 0000.1 on the odometer none the wiser. Revelation; I figure I don't need the extended warranty so I go to the dealer and tell them the situation expecting them to either give me the money back or credit my account. So after the initial "oh, you only have a 12 month factory warranty... oops, that's a royal star." discussion with one of the finance folks, she admitted that I should not have been sold the extended warranty. :bang head:She also said they would cancel the extended one and credit my account. Great! Says she need to verify paperwork and she'll be back. Problem start; She comes back and tells me that the bike does have a 5 year warranty, but that it's mechanical only. Now there was no mention of this when I bought the bike and I signed no paperwork stating that I was accepting a bike with other than a factory warranty. I explain this to her and want to know why the bike isn't under a full Yamaha factory warranty. I am told that the dealer gets some bikes in from the manufacturer this way and that is why they can sell them at such a good price. She then tells me that she the dealer invoice stated mechanical warranty only. I ask her why I wasn't told this and made to sign something when I bought the bike. Deer in the headlights. I then explained that if I bought the bike assuming I had a full warranty, even if for only the 12 months I was told, and then found out that it was only a 'mechanical warranty' that was not disclosed that they pulled a 'bait and switch'. Deer in the headlights with a heavy oh crap undertone. Work in progress; She told me she would have to look into the file, corner the original finance worker, talk with her boss, blah blah blah. I told her I understood this wouldn't get fixed over night and that it might take a bit to clear up. I also told her that her dealership had a good rep and so did Yamaha and that I fully expect them to take care of me with a full warranty. "Well, I need to talk to Yamaha, blah blah..." but I will get back to you tomorrow or early next week. My thoughts; So I am leaning towards letting them have a chance to work this out. I am not sure if the dealer wants to call the mother ship and tell them they illegally sold a bike, basically putting themselves on report. I figure the 50lb heads need to get together and figure out a solution. Could be, they will warranty the bike for the 5 years for the parts that aren't covered by Yamaha, but I need to make sure I am covered no matter where I take the scooter. Advice; This is where I need your help. Do I give the dealer a couple of days to work this out? Do I call Yamaha customer service first thing tomorrow and intervene before they have a chance? This could mess up the dealer trying to fix it. Is Yamaha Customer service the right place to start if I have to call? Has anyone heard of a 'new' bike being sold with anything other than a factory warranty? And the piece de resistance, what is considered 'mechanical'? Throttle? Forks? Springs? Shocks? Brakes? Again, I appologize for the length, but I needed to get this out.
  23. Placed in the classifieds today. 2009 800 miles, extra warranty, less than KBB. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=2041
  24. A week ago I told of how good Odessey was about replacing a battery that was just one month over the stated warranty period. I have no problem with the way it is being handled but due to other Odessey failures in young batteries I have decided to choose another brand. Last summer I got an Odessey for my truck and one month later it failed and needed to be replaced. Just this weekend It failed again and I put the 5 year old Delco I had removed and was sitting on a shelf back in and it fired right up. Another warranty claim pending. Very disappointing. Well all this prompted me to compare and I found the Odessey PC545 I was using in the bike, supposedly the best I could get, had 14AH and 185 CCA. Well the regular Yousa battery has 18AH and 270 CCA and if I wanted to pay more I could get the high performance Yousa and get 18AH and 310 CCA. I just ordered the Yousa from the local auto parts place and was done with it. Everyone watch your Odessey batteries. The failing of the battery in the fall may also have contributed to my engine knock from ignition problems. Either way my trust is gone. PS. Does any one want a good deal on the new PC545 Im recieving under warranty?
  25. Woke up this morning to 6" of snow. They say the Robins get snowed on three time before spring is truely here, well this is the third time here in S.W. Minnesota. O well the the bike's at the dealer getting alittle warranty work done before it goes out of warranty. If your riding today put on a few miles for me.
