  2. Anybody know if a top case frame from a Venture can go onto a Tour Deluxe?
  3. HAS ANYONE SEEN OR INSTALLED ONE OF THESE ON A TOUR DELUXE? LOOKS LIKE A NICE TRUNK AND A GREAT PRICE. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching&viewitem=&item=120246281923&_trksid=p3907.m32
  4. The only issue I have with my 99 RSV is that the screw heads in the tour pack and in the fairing strip out too easily. Does anyone know where to get replacement screws? Thanks,

  6. As some of you know by now both me and my daughter who's 14 are amateur musicians. I have been a Fender man all my life but my daughter has went to the dark side and become a Gibson fan (just kidding I love me all), so a friend of a friend made arrangements for her to have a private VIP tour of the Gibson Guitar Tour Bus. The guys treated her like a celebrity and it was a very special visit for us both. Thought I would posta couple of pics they took. They even gave her an $8,000 59 re-issure Les Paul to play around on, very cool indeed!! In the Warm up room. http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Carson%20on%20Gibson%20Tour%20Bus/20080326_44.jpg In The Sound Studio Room http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Carson%20on%20Gibson%20Tour%20Bus/20080326_46.jpg Chilling in the lounge/kitchen http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Carson%20on%20Gibson%20Tour%20Bus/20080326_48.jpg Outside http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Carson%20on%20Gibson%20Tour%20Bus/20080326_50.jpg They even let me on with her wearing a Fender Shirt LOL... http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Carson%20on%20Gibson%20Tour%20Bus/20080326_40.jpg
  7. I am thinking of installing a Harley Ultra or similar type tour pack on my RSTD. Does anyone have any experiences to share with similar mods? Any ideas about using the existing quick-detach sissy bar hardware would especially be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Bob LeDuc Calgary, Alberta
  8. For those that didn't know or don't care Honda Motorcycle USA plant in Marysville, Ohio is closing and moving back to Japan. Brand new plant with some new bikes including another automatic, don't know what size. This past year they made 44,000 VTX and Goldwings. My main reason for the thread is to tell you this will be your last chance to attend the Honda Homecomming July 24-26. The event is unique in that you can tour the bike plant in operation on the 25th or self guided tour on 26th non operational (Saturday) You can see schedule by looking up Honda Homecomming. If you live in or near Ohio it would be a good trip. It's about 35 mi northwest of Columbus
  9. I got to wondering.. I've seen references here, to the Tour Deluxe, the Tour Classic, The Tour Classic II and one or two others I believe. What were/are the differences between them? My '98 says Tour Deluxe on the title, but Tour Classic on the side of the leather saddlebags. Not a big deal...just curious more than anything!! Thanks autopilot
  10. Our church is sponsoring a sea to sea bicycle tour. On Aug 25 they plan on leaving St Catherines ON with about 120 cyclists and arriving in Albion NY to finish this leg of their journey. They had arranged to overnight at a school in Albion, but it seems that they can no longer do this due to it being rented out to another group previously. What would be helpful here, if someone can help by finding another location for these folks to shower, sleep etc. in the area. They bring their own tents and food etc, they only would like shower facilities and a place to pitch their tents, more or less. For info on the tour: http://www.crcna.org/pages/sea_front.cfm
  11. Can anyone tell me if the Tour Deluxe and Venture rear shocks are the same ? What about the earlier model Tour Deluxe ? Thanks Brad
  12. Greetings. Neeed some help regarding dressing up my 1998 Royal Star Tour Classic II. Bought the bike in December and it is arriving here in Iceland next week. Was fortunate enough to find some hard bags from a 2005 Venture here on VR.org from mr. Rick Butler (thousand thanks Rick:))and would like to add that this was the easiest transaction ever. What I am wondering about is if any of you Royal Star riders/owners have swapped the leather bags for hard Venture bags and if there are any modifications needed. By looking at the OEM parts from Yamaha it seems like the supports under the bags are a little different but I would guess that it would be an easy modification. Any tips or advice greatly apreciated. Secondly I just have to have the Venture trunk for my bike. Would like my wife to have it comfy behind me. As far as I can see the only thing in general I need is to get the frame for the trunk as well as the trunk itself of cause. Do you guys know if there are any modifications needed and/or if this is a simple bolt on? Looking forward to hear from you guys and many thanks in advance.
  13. Can anyone tell me any reasons NOT to buy a Royal Star Tour Deluxe?
  14. I fabricated a trunk mounting bracket that requires no drilling or mods to the bike. The bracket uses u-bolts to mount to the backrest mounting points. I mounted a VIP Tour Pak clone trunk. I put a few pictures in my gallery to show how it was made in case some of you want to make you one. AL GUY
  15. 1988 up after market GL 1500 rotor covers on 1st or 2nd gens Ventures or RS std. I saw them on a 1985 GL1200. I just aquired a rare 1984 GL 1200 standard ( no fairing on front ), pre owner did add touring pkg off Aspencade with tour box. This winter will do this install on my 87 V.R. and the 84 GL std.
  16. I would just like to say thanks to everyonewho traveled to Memphis, Tn, to help support our St. Jude Childrens Hospital event. We weathered some pretty cool temps but it didnt keep anyone from coming. In total we had 12 bikes with 13 bodies in attendance. Before departing for the hospital to make the presentation we had some time to kill so we all had lunch at our meeting spot. After that we rode the 3 miles across the Mississippi River to the hospital for our tour. I will post all the pics in Photobucket by tomorrow I hope, but here are a few to tide you over..........Again, thanks to everyone who helped make this possible, without the support of the members here it wouldnt have been possible, and that goes out to all who attended Vogel/Tail of the Dragon also. Jamie aka Wingman and myself decided to make a weekend of it and went over to Graceland to take the tour, but decided $25.00 to tour a dead singers house was a little much, so we decided to take in Beal St, and get some good Memphis BBq, then headed back to Newnan. We stopped in Tupelo,Miss,(dead singers birthplace) and got a room and continued back this morning(Sun) making it home at 3:30 pm. All in all it was a great weekend seeing some old friend, making new ones and seeing what a great place St.Jude is and coming away feeling like we made a difference for some sick kids...........Thanks again VentureRiders, you guys ROCK!!!!!
  17. Been beating around the bushes about selling my 83 Venture. Finally made up my mind this weekend. Should anyone be interested, let me know. She runs great and I will be including a couple of helmets with it. I have installed a 4-lamp light bar on the tour pack, auxillary driving lights on the front and an AM/FM Cassette that I purchased off of e-bay. I have the owners manual and a Yamaha tool kit that I purchased off of e-bay. I'm asking $2500.
  18. I have a 1990 VR. The tape deck has always worked well and I enjoy listening to different music tapes when I'm on the road touring and can't get a local radio station. Recently, while on a 7000 mile tour of the northern US, the tape deck "ate" my tape. I tried to see what had happened looking down from the top but all I could see was the tape was hopelessly wrapped around some component in the bowels of the machine. When I got home, I took the tape deck out of the holder and removed the bottom cover, exposing the area where the tape was all entangled. I removed the "mess" very carfully and after inspecting the parts for wear or damage, reassembled the player, as all looked OK. Put it back on the bike and it seemed to work just as expected. Today I made a new tape to replace the one that was "eaten" while on tour. Tonight I put it in the player and tried to play it. The damn thing "ate" the tape again. What should I look for to repair this unit ? Can it be repaired ? Or is it just worn out and time to think about junking it ? Thanks for any help in resolving this dilema. Red Baron

  20. For a very good website with Tour Information for Wa. State use this web address: http://www.experiencewashington.com/byways/BywaysMain.aspx Click on each section, a map will come up, the click on each number, for more detailed information: I think this is a State Gov. sponsored site. Very good and detailed Information.
  21. Anybody out there have a 99 model tour deluxe with 4 into 2 pipes that have put slip on mufflers on their bike? Mine has the Y pipe welded to the muffler. Is 99 the only year that has this?, it looks like the Y pipe would have to be cut and modified to make a slip on fit.
  22. I just finished with all of the mounting of my tour pak and now I need to run the wires for lights. My tour pak came with lights and I added leds to the bottom edges and replaced light bulbs with leds that can brake, signal, and be running lights. Any suggestions on wiring? I thought about under drivers seat but do I need anything special or just splice. Thanks for any tips. 23. The '01 Tour Deluxe has tiny engine guards, and I've had a heck of a time trying to find highway pegs that will work. Any recommendations?
  24. Hi folks - does anyone have experience riding both of these bikes? I do believe my RSV will be a write-off so I will be looking at a new bike. Much as I love the RSV, I do find it a bit top-heavy and was wondering if the Tour Deluxe suffers from the same? I know there are "some fixes" for the RSV handling but I'd still like your comparison opinions first. I thank you in advance for any comments. Eugene
