Just when I figured out one problem I get another. I recently put the Plug and Play LED turn signals and tail light in my 99. Found out that the board or wire in the tail light was shorting out when I tightened down the bottom screw of the lens. Fix that and all seemed well. Got back yesterday from a ride to Vermont and still all is good. Put the bike away after a good cleaning, then this morning I get a call from the wife and she said the my passing lamps are on. They were not on when I went to bed last night. They're wire to a relay to the ignition switch and no other lights are affected (on). I will start tracing wires when I get home but am looking for a little advice what could cause it. Had one thought...Can a relay fail in the closed position?? Thanks. Bill

I just installed LED taillights and now I'm getting the warning light on the monitor. If I leave one incandescent bulb in, it doesn't trip the computer, but it doesn't look as good either. I know that somebody around here knows the fix other than black tape over the red warning light! (I fixed the battery warning light that way until I could get around to adding the resistor!) So, what's the fix? The LEDs that I used have a ring of lights around the base to hit the reflector. They don't reflect as much as a regular bulb but they are brighter anyway. I will probably go with the turn signals when I can afford them. The question is: Will I run into this again with the reduced load on the turn signal system? I rode the tail of the dragon saturday and last night I was looking for my picture from the ones taken by killboy.com and I saw a white venture two up and a burgandy venture one up and two or three tours deluxe. Were these anyone here?

Time is counting down pretty fast now,only 24 days remaining, its not too late to get your registration in for the Tail of the Dragon IV @ Vogel........I am taking registrations by mail up till Aug 1, after that its best to register at Vogel when you arrive, but it would be best to register early to make sure I have enough shirts and order enough food for everyone. Hey all, just a general notice, that some of us Ontario Members will be heading to Deals Gap, on a 4-5 day road trip, Sept 21. As of right now, it is Dragerman, Rob (forget his forum nick) and myself. This trip will be during the week (Monday to Thursday or Friday) as it was suggested that it is better to ride the Tail of the Dragon, during the week. In September most of the kids will be back in school, so tourists will be at a minimum. This trip is in the very first stages of planning. I am announcing it, for 2 reasons, to find out if anyone wants to come with us (or meet up with us along the way) and to get suggestions from some of the members here who have been there. I am really looking forward to this trip. I am sure before we go, we will get together to discuss the trip in detail, and finalize plans. Ok, so who is interested? Being interested does not commit you to the trip. Once we figure out some meets to do planning, I will announce them. I would be happy if there were 6-8 bikes going, the more the merrier I guess. Feel free to drop Dragerman, or myself an email or PM. Lets git 'er done! -

So far I have only received 3 registrations for Vogel, I am hoping it will pick up a little, the poll shows a little over 30 bikes and about 50 people coming, but I need firm numbers so I can place an order for the shirts............and its getting kinda close, I dont want to over-order the shirts............... So if you can register it would be appreciated or at least go to the calendar and RSVP so I can get a better idea of how many I need to order............... I bought a rack and the VentureDad hitch. Added the same LED light bar I have on my trunk to the rack. Bar contains tail, brake and turn signals.

Just wanted to ask if anyone would be interested in bidding on some items I have left from "Tail of the Dragon" @ Vogel 2007. I have 1 brand new Tail of the Dragon T-shirt size large, a Tail of the Dragon Patch 2007, and a DVD video of the 2006 Rally. If there is no interest in these items I will not post them. Again all monies raised by these items will be donated to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. These items will be offered in 1 auction all together.

Tazmocycle sent me a pm suggesting that I put up some of the DVD video's from the Tail of the Dragon. Well I found one of the extras for the 2006 Tail of the Dragon, that Al Bates was gracious enough to give to me and I have placed it up for auction in the St. Jude auctions, this auction will last 10 days instead of the 7 that I do most the auctions for. If I can find some more of them I will post them up for auction also. I will also try to do the same for the 05 Tail of the Dragon if I can. Remember this is all for the Kids at St. Jude Children's Hospital. Just want to thank everyone for helping support this cause with me.

I have an '06 RSTD, midnight version. I've been trying to honor the darkly menacing intent of the midnight scheme, and so have been limiting the chrome I add. At the same time, the single tail light seems insufficient, and I am considering adding more tail lights. I am considering adding the saddlebag guards I have seen in photos. The guards that protect the lower sides and back, attached to the stock front guard. I think I am not calling them the right thing, because I can't seem to find them, or if I have found them I don't recognize what they are called. My thought is that I would attach lights to the guards. I've seen LED bullet lights used, which would be fine for the purpose. I wonder if I can use the guards as cable chases? Could I replace the side reflectors with marker lights? What other additional tail light options are there? I'd appreciate your knowledge and ideas. Dave -

I have revised this post after several posts wondering why I would change the name of the Vogel event. It has been said that it has become tradition, if it aint broke, dont fix it, and after consideration we have decided to leave a good thing alone. There was not particular reason to change it other than for change, but I guess everyone associated The Tail of the Dragon with Vogel, and thats a good thing. So thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions for a new name, it did get quite a bit of attention and took some minds off of other things for a while, so not a bad thing I guess. But I will have to come up with another contest for the prizes I offered. Thanks again to all.

I am sure someone has run into this before. I am having an electrical issue. I added a new rear brake light that works fine. It works as a tail light and brake light. I solered all connectons and covered connections with tape heavily and buttoned it all back up under the rear tail light. I then did the mod on my mufflers after checking out the new light and with the switch on the tail light lit up and it worked well when braked were applied. I finished my muffler mod and fired up the bike (99rsv) and when I headed out the drive way I noticed that the speedo/turn signal and fuel lights no longer lit up on the dash. I do have headlights/running light taillights and brake lights. I do not see a listing under fuses that would point to the speedo/turnsignal fuel pump as a combo or point to something they would have in common other than they are all electrical. Remember the bike runs fine so the fuel pump is working as is the lights/radio just not the idiot lights for the neutral/turnsignals or the speedo/fuel indicator. Any idea what I did to cause this and how to track the issue down and fix it? I am going back out now to research fused but as I said I dont have anything that points t o what would be commom and still let bike operate.
