  1. http://www.northerntool.com/ Seems to have the best prices on trailer tires that I can find. I'm refurbing my trailer and the 990 lb load rating new wheels plus tires are priced better than most stores 880 lb tires only. Check both the online prices and store flyer specials. $44.99 each for the 990 lb 4.80x12 with new wheels, in store special.
  2. Greetings... Went to Wally World yesterday. Was parking under the overhang between the Garden center and the part of the store where they park the shopping carts, where most of the cycle riders park. Backing in, there was a somewhat drunk middle aged woman with a scooter talking on her cell phone, wandering around. As I backed under the overhang to get in the shade, I caught a whiff of nasty sewage, looking down was an uncovered hole in the concrete right under where I'd parked. I commented about it to her, and procceeded to move over a bit so I wasn't directly over it. For some reason, this prompted her to move her little scooter too - she slowly backed it out (she had put it in - nose first) standing on the RIGHT side. I was still in the process of backing, preparing to shut down, when her center stand clipped the edge of a bench, put her off-balance, and down she went - slowly, dropping her scooter (to the left of course)- then slowly falling on top of it, as only a practiced drunk can, deftfully rolling over it backwards, heels over head. As she rolled over it, she muttered something like " sorry, I have a broken elbow" The little scooter exploded into a pile of plastic and metal parts!! It litterally disintegrated!! Completely out of proportion to the slow drop - The seat came off - apparently the main stowage - and cloths, drink bottles, basicly everything a woman would normall carry in her purse - all spilled out. Front wheel came off, instument panel seperated, mirrors, muffler, the chrome ring around the headlight, the headlight itself - everything!! I was stunned at the almost total destruction! I walked around trying to help her collect the carnage, and trying to help her piece it all back together - she wouldn't let me! Each time I'd hand her a piece, she'd grab it and growl like I was trying to steal it, then put it in the pile - and all the while she's trying to apologize and reassure me that she's "Not a weirdo" What can you say to that? - I thought it was downright scary! Like something you would see on some old BBC comedy program, only in real life!! The Benny Hill jingle started playing in my head!! When I got into the store, I had to pause and look back out - and all I could say was Whoa! The whole encounter was just so bizarre, weird and well into sureal territory. I was only in the store for about 10 minutes, and when I came out - she and her scooter, and all the parts were gone. I shudder to think that this is probably at least a daily occurance for her. That thing's going to kill her!
  3. Speedometer hasn't worked for a couple of months so I tore into it this evening. The inner cable is broke. I got both ends out but it was still plugged just about where it had broke. I straightened out a close hanger but it wasn't long enough so I put the cable back in upside down so that the nipple on the end came down against the clog and then I used the close hanger to push it through and worked it back and forth until it moved freely. I doubt any stores have the cable in stock and I have the entire dash pulled apart to get the cable loose. I would like to put the cable back in before so that I don't have to tear apart again when the part arrives. I went to an auto parts store (Advance Auto Parts) to get a universal inner cable and the people never heard of them. I then went to another part store (Autozone) and after waiting for 10 minutes I told the counter guy what I wanted and he said that he had laid it out for ME when I called. I told him I hadn't called so he looked around and said he had no other ones. By now it was 8:45 and I never had time to go to another parts store before they all closed. After this long prologue the question is: has anyone ever used an after market auto universal inner cable before and if so, was there a particular model car? It's hot outside and if it wasn't for this I would be out riding. I sure don't want to wait a week or 10 days to get one from Yamaha. Anyone have any information? As usual, thanks in advance for any help, Dick
  4. I put this kit on a Kawa Vulcan a few years back and pd $50 here: http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/detail.cfm?action=detail&model_ID=1&Category_ID=48&manufacturer_ID=223&product_ID=6421&sblid_name=detail I found the same ringed led lights at Advanced Auto (Discount Auto) in FL @ $6 a 2 pack & installed on my Honda with the same results! Now the store does not carry these. Cannot find these ringed led lights locally anywhere. Anyone know what I am talking about and if so where I can find them online or where?
  5. A buddy of mine is heading to Indy this week and mentioned there was a nice MC store there. He couldn't recall the name. Apparently, it is like the Iron Pony (Columbus, OH), but not quite as big. Can anyone in the Indy area help with the name of this place. I know this request is rather generic and may not include enough info. However, I thought I would run it up the flagpole and see if anyone knows. Thanks. RR
  6. Anybody in New England know of a store that carries a good line of Helmets? I 'm a tough fit and really hate trying to buy a helmet thru the mail. The Dealers in this area don't carry much selection. I would be willing to drive a distance for a good selection. Prefferred area... Anywhere in Southern NH, Western Ma, Northern CT. Next... Any opinions on a nice comfortable helmet? Something that has room for the Headsets? Like to keep costs under $200.00 if I can. Thank you
  7. Well after 3 days of Snow, and sitting in the house, and sending me to the Store. Wife just could not take it anymore, She Just had to go Shopping !!! Just got back from 6 hours of dropping her off at store after store, and sitting in the Warm Car, in parking lot reading magazines!!! An Entire Day!!! Wasted ---------- Did not get even one thing Fixed Today !!!
  8. If you must store a Scoot try to go past it once in a while (as often as possible) and work the clutch lever and the brake levers a few times. It is best to start them as often as possible but if you can't work those levers and save yourself a lot of trouble when you get them back out. Just take a few seconds to stop and pump them a few times.

    How big is wal-mart?

I don't know that this data is (or isn't) correct, but it wouldn't surprise me. I know for a fact that the HEB grocery chain in Texas went bankrupt in large part due to the proliferation of WalMart SuperCentres. 1. At Wal-Mart, Americans spend $36,000,000 every hour of every day. 2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute! 3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th) than Target sells all year. 4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco + K-Mart combined. 5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people and is the largest private employer. And most can't speak English 6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the World. 7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger & Safeway combined, and keep in mind they did this in only 15 years. 8. During this same period, 31 Supermarket chains sought bankruptcy (including Winn-Dixie). 9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world. 10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are Super Centres; this is 1,000 more than it had 5 years ago. 11. This year, 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at a Wal-Mart store. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 billion.) 12. 90% of all Americans live within 15 miles of a Wal-Mart 13. Let Wal-Mart bail out Wall Street Cheers,

  11. See this: http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/webpromo/currentpromos_details_cashback.aspx It looks like to me this includes $500 on the 2008 Venture Touring? Am I reading this right?? Is this truly CASH $$$ or store credit on highly marked up merchandise??? Thanks

    bug off

Bought some of the sea foam bug off today, tried it on my scoot. I wasn't overly impressed with the windshield, but I believe the pledge was causing some issues. However, on the rest of the bike it was awesome. BTW also tried out the deep creep, cleaned the combustion chamber and upper cylinders, and throttle body on my truck. really blowed out a lot of crap. my neighbors were hating me, when I drove it out to the store, looked like I had a blowed head gasket or something, couldn't see for a couple hundred feet back. I believe I will do it again in another 10000 miles or so.
  13. Greetings... Was puttering around the yard sales today... Found this: A Victorinox small-pack- the company that makes the original Swiss army knives. - so you KNOW it's quality!! Heavy nylon construction, waterproof, excellent zippers... The Bag - $.99 - at our local Pussy-Cat Salvage Store - a local "thrift-store" that devotes the procedes to 'rescuing' cats... Terry (excellent saleman who also rides! Willing to search the entire store!) at REI provided me with 2 sets of $.80 clips (2 ea) that fit the straps perfectly - 2 at the top, and 2 at the sides. A few minutes installing the clips - which fit under the top-cover and hold the bag perfectly - Total cost: $2.60 + Governor's cut. We'll call it $3.00 even... Big enough to hold the 9mm, ammo, camera, the mail, Jacket, gloves, and other assorted goodies found in my pockets- and a bottle of water in the expanding side pouch. No more Velcro coming unglued in the extreme heat -positive hooking, easily removed and installed without taking off the top-cover... Took the Tersiphone up to 100 mph to test for function - lost my cigarrette but not my new bag!!
  14. Best Buy lists the zumo 500 for $899 on their web site but many of the stores are clearing them out for $539 as an in store special only. If you go to the website, look up the 550 then use the link to do a search for a local store with one in stock you may get lucky.. The web site continues to show $899 but if you have a local store with one in stock, call them, they may be doing the in store special. There were none in stock anywhere near me in North Florida but another store by a friend had one, he picked it up for me and is shipping it to me. I also noticed two stores in Orlando show them in stock.
  15. Found this store doing search for some stuff. Looks like supercheap store for Helmets and clothing, Does anybody have ordered from them and how good they are to deal with. Here is web site: http://www.jafrum.com/
  16. Deb and I got out last Sunday and rode up to one of our favorite destination Rabbit Hash Kentucky. A wide spot in the road along the Ohio river between Louisville and Cincinnati. It's like stepping back in time a hundred years, very quaint. It made some national recongnition on the national nightly news a few years back when the local dog that hangs at the General Store was voted Mayor:rotf: You can Goggle it for some more info. Anyway here's some pics.... The General Store http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Rabbit%20Hash%205-2008/20080518_3.jpg?t=1211379347 A nice collection of classic Triumphs, BSA's and Nortons http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Rabbit%20Hash%205-2008/20080518_11.jpg?t=1211379389 A View From Down The Holler http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Rabbit%20Hash%205-2008/20080518_9.jpg?t=1211379426 Bikes of all Kinds Congregate http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff242/stratocurtster/Rebel%20XTI/Rabbit%20Hash%205-2008/20080518_27.jpg?t=1211379478
  17. Alright, so I finally got the front cylinder head off, heli-coiled, and back on (Thanks to Freebird and Rick Butler for putting up with my phone calls. ) Got it all buttoned back up on Saturday, and got it out on the road. Everything seemed great.. until I stopped at the store and heard something bubbling from the right fairing.... I was boiling coolant in the resivoir. the bottle looked full and was visibly wiggling from the boiling. went into the store and came back out to find that the bottle was empty but still pretty darn hot. couldn't see anywhere that it boiled a hole in the bottle, but the cap was cracked. Couldn't see where it had leaked out onto the ground either, but it had just rained and the concrete was soaked already. while riding the temp gauge didn't move. Just stayed buried at the bottom, which I remember thinking was odd since after that short distance it should at least have moved up some.. So now I need some advice from ya'll... If this was a car I'd start looking at the thermostat.. since I drained the radiator and re-filled it, I'm wondering if I washed something into it and stuck the stupid thing.. or maybe I didn't put enough coolant into it?? How much should be in an '86 VR? And does anyone have a coolant bottle and cap that I can buy from them? Thanks in advance! BTW, in case anyone was wondering, Yes, you CAN remove the front cylinder head without removing the engine... but for the pain in the butt that it is, I'm wondering if it woulda been easier to pull the engine.
  18. How about it Mich. riders anyone have a ride tomorrow in store. Let see what we can put together. Joe
  19. We have been looking for a sheepskin for awhile for our bike seat. We have a new IKEA store now in West Chester, Ohio, which is about 30 miles away from where we live. We went there this past week and discovered that they sell a very nice one for a reasonable price. I have photos of the skeepskin, with the label. They cost $20.00 in the store. If anybody is interested in one, and you do not live near an IKEA store, maybe I could buy one for you and ship it to you. We tried it on our 99 RSV and it fit perfectly. Let me know what you think. Ron wanted to me to tell you, he was not attacked by our neighbors pet polar bear. Peggy
  20. Don't know what year this is but it's only about 20 minutes from my house so if any of you buy it and need me to pick it up and store it for you, that would be no problem. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-Venture-1300-engine-take-out-vmax-nice-cond_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35595QQihZ014QQitemZ330211706797QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
  21. I need to get a new Venture Rider cap but can not seem to find the area to order one. I went to the VR store but there are no hats. Any body know where the site is located?

    Iway 600c

Just picked up an Iway 600c from walmart for $169.00. Marked down from $690.00. Lady said it was a discontinued item. You may want to check your local store to see of they have any similar deals. (or maybe I just got lucky)
  23. I want to show my patriotism by placing some small American Flags near the tips of the antennas. What better way to show your patriotism by sticking an american flag on your Japaneese motorcycle. :usa: Does anyone have any vendor recommendations? I could probably pick them up at any flag store, but I thought I would ask hear first. Also how do you guys mount your ipods onto your scooters, the handlebars? Are there any photos out there? Thanks
  24. this is a FIRST, for me. i am one of those people who NEVER meets a stranger. today, i saw a guy walking around in the local grocery store, wearing a "star riders", tee shirt. it said "CENTRAL NEW JERSEY, STAR GROUP" or something similar. and also said "chapter 118". i asked him , if he rode a yamaha, thinking that would get a conversation started. he answered YES i ride a royal star. i asked if he'd ever been to our web site. again "yes, i've been there a few times". then he just turned and walked away!!!!!! first time i EVER met a biker, who didn't want to talk your ear off, about his bike!!!!! maybe that's just the way people are in that part of new jersey, i don't know. i was stationed in "Lakehurst", in the first part of 1970, but i don't remember being allowed to interact with the locals. just jt
  25. Yesterday afternoon I went by a local independant MC dealer, Cycle Parts, to pick up a copy of Friction Zone, a west coast rag. The last couple of times I dropped by it was closed and I just figured it was for the holidays. Same thing this time, so I got out and peaked thru the windows. Nothing. The store walls were bare. Closed out of business.... I received an anouncement about an auction being held next Wednesday from Lone Eagle about another local independant store. National Cycle Discount Center. AUCTION The first store was nice but didn't have a ton of inventory on the shelves. National was loaded, and there are over 1400 items listed in the auction catalog. And a lot of these are multiples. This may just be a coincendence that these two stores were located right here in Sacramento, but it may be a sign of the times. And I wonder if this is happening in other parts of the country as well??? I plan on attending the National auction next Wednesday because they have some big sized items that I've been wanting, and I may get lucky. And.. anything else of interest that ends up going for cheap.
