  1. probably a dumb question , but I'll ask it anyway. On a 91 vr will the bikes speakers and the headset speakers play at the same time?? WHen I have the headset button pressed the bikes speakers are not playing and when I dont have the headset button the bikes speakers play but not the headset. Just wandering if they both playor if its ine or the other. Thanks in advance, David
  2. Ok, here's my newest problem. The guy that I bought my bike from had installed an aftermarket radio. I didn't like the look so about two months ago I installed the OEM radio in my 83' standard. I wanted the classic look back and I enjoy that feature that allows the volume to deminish when you slow down. Anyway...From the beginning I had problems with powered antenna on the bike. I've never been able to get a strong enough signal. Not a big deal at this point, because I'm just using my little iPod and enjoy the tunes. But, for the past couple of weeks it's been developing a buzzing noise coming through the speakers. At first it wasn't anything too bad. But now its really loud. It only seems to happen upon excelleration, and continued riding. If I come to a stop the noise becomes only moderat. I've tried unplugging the iPod (which I'm just running through the tape deck with an adaptor.) and that doesn't change anything. I've tried using the radio. Nada. Same problem. I've tried taking everything appart and checking connecting. Everything is tight and appears to be connected correctly. I'm wondering what I may be missing. Oh, BTW, this noise comes through the speakers even is the radio isn't turned on. Hope someone can help. This is really bumming out my rides. Thanks
  3. Before I reck my helmet, I thought I might be able to get some tips from anyone who may have had to cut into their helmet to fit their speakers in the ear area. My new J&M speakers fit great in my wife's helmet, but my modular helmet does not have an ear pocket area so I will have to cut into the material and foam so they can be inset so the helmet will still fit my head. Any tips or tricks so I can do it right the first time? Thanks
  4. Right speaker louder then the left. Is there a way to balance the speakers?
  5. I seem to remember a post about pulling off the black adhesive strips on the rear armrests to get to the screws that hold the rear pods together. Is this the way to get to the speakers or do I start by removing the screws in the trunk to remove the pods? Thanks in advance,
  6. I'm heading out on a long trip soon and I'm trying to figure out a way to both protect my hearing from the wind noise and better hear my radio/XM under my helmet. I do not have speakers built into the helmet and listen VIA the built in stock speakers. the sound from the FM is fine but with the XM i can barely hear it at hi way speed. The sound just isn't loud enough. Does anyone have any experience with the the ear pieces that you can plug into the cassette audio output? Although I plug the XM into this so I'm not sure how this will work. I'm looking for something that others have used and feel work well. Thanks
  7. I want to replace the stock speakers on 07 RSV. Any suggestions?
  8. I purchased new speakers for my 87'VR :sign woo hoo:and was hoping that someone who has info on the removal of the old speakers could shed some light on the easiest way to get those little buggers out! I would be grateful for any help. Earl
  9. So you don't have to read all my problems my thoughts on the bazooka amp and speakers and the 6" amplified sub. The speakers by themselves don't sound good at all without the amp and with the amp they need the sub to have some bass. And the system will run down your battery ,need to put on trickle charge if you aren't going to ride except on the weekends, (How do I know? I was going to ride a few min ago and my 3 week old 130.00 gel battery wouldn't crank my bike. so here I am typing while it charges instead of riding) It was fine the first 2 weeks since I rode the bike every few days but last week I didn't crank it Let me first say bazooka's customer service is very good, that being said here is the problems I had , for starters I was going to knock this out in 1 or 2 days and ride that weekend but,got everything took apart run the wiring harness ( dind't get the fuse size called the tech. told me it was a 7.5 amp fuse) installed the amp,and speakers (one of which the surround was glued out of round) per instructions started to hook up the speakers and the terminals on the wiring harness were wrong (for a goldwing) so I changed them to the correct size blade to hook into the factory connectors then turned on the switch only to hear my new speakers sound like they were under water, and not loud as factory , anyway found out one speaker wasn't working traced down that where bazooka spliced the extension on one of the wires was not making a connection thought good now lets hear the music . Then come to find out my amp was bad blowed the 7.5 amp fuse each time I put the fuse in, called bazooka and told them my problems with the amp, speaker, and wiring tried the tech's fixes and they didn't work so emailed them they said the would fed ex'd me new ones. In the meantime I thought I would just hook up the bazooka speakers to the factory system , the factory speakers were louder and sounded better, so after a week of waiting redone everything (and this time got a 30 amp fuse) sounded ok but still a little distorted so I put the bass tube in the trunk and connected it to the amp and it had no bass so back to the email machine was told by the tech that had a reverse polarity on a speaker come to figure out they reversed a wire making the splices ,well fixed that, got bass, closed the trunk and couldn't hear it drilled a hole in the bottom above the cb to let air in and out made it a little better but still not good so butchered up the trunk somemore now it sounds ok setting still and is a little better riding and it still distorts @ full volume still tinkering with that
  10. I am looking for a set of handlebar speakers. Was looking at some of the cheaper one on ebay. Just cannot justify 400-500 for the name brands, for that price i will just do a fairing. Anyone have any feedback on the ebay speakers. I am looking at this one. I already have my Siruis Radio installed and use my headphones. http://cgi.ebay.com/motorcycle-Ipod-audio-system-100-w-amp-2-speakers_W0QQitemZ250396165856QQihZ015QQcategoryZ18795QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. I installed a MX radio about a year ago, and installed the Y spliter from Radio shack as instructed by the fine folks of this site, about a month ago, I lost my right side speakers only while on the XM, they worked fine with the reg. Radio, I opened up the fairing and was applying the contact greese to all connections, when I pulled apart the Y connector, I heard my speakers come on for a second..so I pluged it back in, nothing but the left side....hhhmmm...so I pulled it apart real slow...they worked...ok, so I found a rubber washer that was about 1/8in thick and installed it over the male end and plugged it back in...Shazam!!! they all worked again... so I taped it up real good and put on a few small tywraps to secure it and put the beast back together..all is still working to date. Has anyone else had to do this?? or am I the lucky one??
  12. Well, Since I have the bike all torn apart right now... I figure it's time to start a project I've been long putting off. I bought a plain old vanilla venture. My previous bike was a BMW R1100RTP so I miss all the electrical doo-dads (that's right, I used doo-dads in a sentence) Anyway, I have an Idea of what I want on there. I have already got some of the items, and I know what I want for some others. I mocked up a rough diagram attached below. The Items with pictures are Items I already have or have picked out. I'm planning on running the XM audio through the input on the tablet pc.... that way, I can always hear the GPS nav prompts. I'll run the audio out from the tablet pc into a switch or splitter of some kind. The audio on one "branch" will run to a 2 channel amplifier powering the roadmasters in my fairing. the issue I am having here, is finding a suitable amplifier that has some kind of remote variable gain knob that I can mount on the fairing. If anyone seen anything please let me know. The only thing I've been able to find are some chinese products on ebay, and I'm leery of the quality. The other branch will run to an amplifier driving some helmet speakers. Again, I'm having trouble finding the right product here as well. I used to just plug my earbuds into the tablet pc, but I don't want to have to deal with in ear phones as helmet speakers are more convenient and don't hurt my ears on long rides. I'm concerned about volume being an issue though, and would rather have a fairing mounted volume control here as well. Lastly, does anyone have any recommendations for a good set of helmet speakers? I have a Schuberth Concept helmet, it that will affect the choices at all. I may add a CB at some point, and am thinking about a bluetooth cell phone kit. (It won't need to be wired in, as I won't talk on the phone while riding, but something on the "dash" so I know if my wife is trying to reach me I would appreciate any advice you may have, and maybe someone will have an even simpler way to accomplish the same goals. Thank you very much Mark
  13. does anybody have the bazooka amp and speakers, model mc-yam-ak4,installed on thier bike, and if so how do you like it and have you had any problems? was the install easy?
  14. I use the chatter box headsets and mike for the venture intercomm. I purchased the edsets adapter that lets you use earbuds. Here's the question. I still need the mike to talk to my passenger and talk using the cb but don't want the speakers that come with the chatter box system in my helmet since I am using earbuds. If I cut the speaker wire that comes out of the mike for the helmet speakers will the mike still work?
  15. Hello all, brand new venture owner as of today!! Traded my 86 FJ1200 for an 86 Venture XVZ. I am now interested in installing a stereo and speakers as it appears this was not an option on this model. Looking for any info on anyone who has done the same or has any ideas Thanks Zacman:680:
  16. I just took out the battery and charged it. When I put it back in the radio doesn't play through the front speakers. I can barely hear it from the right rear speaker even up at max vol level. My bike is the 2000 venture mm.

    Obama Irish!!!!

I think you'll get a kick out of this, quite catchy lyrics. Ian Turn on your speakers and be ready to tap your feet and smile (grin). The Barack Obama Irish Song Moneygall is a small village in County Offaly , Ireland . It has a population of approximately 300 people, has a Roman Catholic Church, five shops, a post office, a national school, a police station and two pubs. President of the United States Barack Obama's great-great-great grandfather, Falmouth Kearney, emigrated from Moneygall to New York City at the age of 19 in 1850 and eventually resettled in Tipton County , Indiana . Kearney's father had been the village shoemaker, then a wealthy skilled trade. And now for the SONG ... Crank up your speakers. http://www.oneeyedparrot.org/obama.html _________________________________________________________________
  18. I just recently bought a standard first generation Venture that a previous owner installed a radio and speakers in. The radio is good quality but the speakers might have sounded good at one time but leave a lot to be desired now. Two questions, what is a good reasonably priced speaker to use and how difficult is the job of putting new speakers in the Ventures faring. Thanks in advance for the help and information. Mike
  19. How do you know if your CB is actually working? My CB comes on, all the knobs work and it goes through all the channels, but besides a bit of static, I have never heard a peep out of out of it. I have tied though the speakers and headset and have never heard any talking. Unfortunately I don’t know anyone who owns a CB so I don’t have a way to test it. Thanks, Al
  20. I've tried the Pioneer speakers and now have the Polk speakers in the front but I'm still not happy with the sound. Now I'm thinking about trying to fit a pair of 4 x 6 speakers in the front. Assuming that I can make them work, how much improvement will they be over the stock 4" round speakers? Don
  21. Hopefully this question won't portray me as a total idiot but having had only small cruisers and sport bikes, I really don't know if it is safe to wash my new 2008 Venture with all the gadgets, speakers, and electronics. I have just been wiping it down with a wet clothe but it really needs a good washing. Can anybody offer tips or am I just being a worrywort?
  22. I departed Montgomery, Al, Wednesday morning enroute to my folks place near Buffalo, N.Y. And despite the expected cold weather, I took this trip on my trusted dear friend, my 2007 RSMV. And while I was (admittingly) a bit nervous and wary, because I had never "ventured" this long of a trip on any motorcycle, this trip proved to me that I definitely made the right choice in motorcycles. 1060 miles later, I am sitting in front of a fireplace warming up, with some hot cocoa too. The Venture performed like a dream. She didn't even so much as hiccup on the trip. I had the trunk and saddlebags completely packed tight, with an old Army "rucksack" packed tightly in the rear seat. It was 80 degrees when I left the south Wednesday, and I made it to the Tennessee line in a short sleeve shirt. But soon, I had to start layering up. By the time I reached N.Y., the temp was in the 40's, I switched from a half-helmet to full face, I had 3 pairs of military issue "poly-pro" pants on under my jeans, four pairs of cold weather socks, t-shirt, one under-armor long sleeve, one sweatshirt, a heavy fleece jacket, and then my leather jacket with liner. Oh, forgot the mock-turtle neck and face mask...and the thick gloves. All said, I felt like that kid from the movie "A Christmas Story", Ralphies little brother who "couldn't move his arms", he was bundled up so much. But, I was warm. Add to that some engine heat, and some well-designed wind deflection, and I was a happy camper. My aftermarket Corbin seat was actually more comfortable than I had imagined it would be. My arse is not sore at all. If I have one complaint about the Venture throughout this trip (and it is a minor complaint), the stock speakers suck. I gotta get those changed soon. Just not loud enough. But I did get a chance to finally try out the Show Chrome helmet speakers, when I changed over helmets. They worked pretty good. Sorry to bore ya'll...now to the moral of my rambling: The Venture is an awesome bike. I'm glad I bought it!! I'll let you know how the return trip goes (it's supposed to be freezing rain here the day I am scheduled to leave.)
  23. After not riding for 25 years I purchased another Royale. Having to do some work on it to get things back to where i'd like them. Here's one. After replacing the speakers I discovered the cassette deck still works fine. It just needs a little nudge in FF to get it to play. I would like to find the cover that goes over it if someone has it. The radio took a little more work, after cleaning the contacts I now have a radio that works without having to hit it. I do still have some minor issues; I am getting static from the speakers with the bike in gear from idle up to about 2500RPM (not sure since it is hard to tell when driving). Also get feedback from the speakers when I turn on the ignition switch, it's like the hissing you used to get when a (tv)station went of the air but much softer. Any suggestions? I took the two button remote apart to see what I could see. It now works as well. One minor problem, I had three springs roll out of it; two to hold the metal balls for the contacts and one slightly longer, thinner one. No clue where that fits, but no biggie since the remote works. Just curious! Lastly, since I cleaned the contacts and got the radio to work it seems that i've had more E4 errors. Coincidence or are they connected some way.
  24. Can someone tell me what size the speakers are? I came across a pair of 61/2 Kenwoods. Thanks Bikerjohn
  25. I want to mount my GPS and Sirius and I have reviewed the Ram mounts that come highly recommended in the post and they are nice, but it seems to be too much stuff on the bars. I wanted to make use it the dash space where the front speakers are. Is anyone using the speaker vents to mount Sirius or GPS? I have seen vent mount for use in the cage. Is anyone making use of that method? Thanks, Bug
