  1. Ever think that chrome headlight shroud gives your 2nd gen a "cyclops" look? Here's a couple pics of mine I "cleaned up" (rather quickly) .... looks a whole lot cleaner to me now. I was contemplating getting a second chrome shroud and painting it to match the scoot just up to the forward edge and wondered what it would look like. I think I like it! 3rd pic of course is the stock one.
  2. ITS A KEEPER..FOR A FIRST GEN.....
  3. Yup this is my scoot , Black 700kms and 3 recalls
  4. So there I am cruising along at 70+mph with my feet up on the road pegs just having myself a good old time. Next thing I know it feels like I'm getting shot with a pellet gun all along my right leg from the knee down to the ankle!! It would seem that I managed to catch TWO yellow jacket wasps with my flapping right pants leg. Them little boogers nailed me about 15-20 times before I was able to stop the scoot and end their sadistic lives. Boomer........who surely looked like a monkey humping a football on that scoot for at least 40 seconds today.
  5. Asheville meet in 2 weeks. I guess I better clean up a scoot.
  6. Folks, I need a big favor from someone in the Strongsville Ohio area. One of the attorneys from the law firm that is hosting a breakfast for us at the 2009 Pork in the Pines pig roast is seriously considering buying a 95 Virago in Strongsville, OH. He has asked me if there is anyone in the area that could swing by and take alook at the scoot and give an honest opinion on it. So, if anyone could do that for him (us), it would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance. Russell
  7. ...when your wife is riding with you. After an awesome day of riding yesterday, we stopped at the supermarket to pick up a "few things" for dinner. Not really realizing the implications of my words "get whatever we need honey", I waited at the scoot while Nina went to get "what we needed" for dinner...or so I thought. After what seemed like an hour (well, maybe it was 1/2 hour) I hear "Rick! ... come help me!" .... OH NO I think... sure enuf, she's got a buggy full of bags... 8 bags of groceries ... $90 dollars worth! HOW AM I GONNA FIT ALL THIS INTO THE SCOOT??? Well, after some juggling and re-juggling of things that are already in the saddle bags and trunk and trying this and trying that... I couldn't believe it... I got it all in! At first I was a bit annoyed but after realizing the humour in it, neither of us could stop laffing!
  8. From another thread......... BTW there was no mention of the Birthday, the day before, so Brian & I didn't know at that point. Scotty, your timing for showing up in the cage was perfect, as Friesman1 was delayed too (slept in & 6 hour drive). We had great eats, then to finishing work on Friesman1's scoot. We took the swing arm off, as it was not re-assembled correctly in California, after middle gear was blown. Then more fantastic eats, after Brian's initial test ride within the building. I had provided Scotty & Brian with VR Gremlin bells, after dinner.......... Yesterday, Brian rode the scoot outdoors in the Wainwright area, after a final rear brake bleeding. Then we finished up, on the re-assembly of mine. Last time I saw him last night, he was riding in the direction of Timmies & not the motel. Will be meeting up with him again this morning & he will be heading home this afternoon. There will be some pics, but Brian has them.
  9. I can't believe it. The weather man is calling for 65 Saturday and 70 Sunday. For those of you who have an open shed for storage the first warm days mean scoot maint. I might fire up a few and take a look. Time for oil change and maint. Hey Dan you got ugly running?
  10. Snow and ice that is......... Temps in the low 50's. We had good rainfall last night that washed away a lot of the road sand too. Even the hayfield around my house is showing a bit of green. What's that noise? Oh, its my scoot calling to me for a ride.......... Boomer......geared up and heading out........
  11. Just have a ? about placing the scoot at an angle while trailering ? I have an opportunity to buy an enclosed trailer at a deal . It's 7 x14 Continental V-nose , tandem axle enclosed . I want to haul the scoot and BEERCART within it . I can get both inside , but both are at an angle . Weight distribution is not an issue ! It's only that I cannot place the scoot and cart side by side as the total combined width's of both are greater than the inside trailer width . The seller allowed me to bring the trailer home to see if they will both fit . As I said , I can get both inside . The scoot when placed inside is about 10-15 degrees off of true forward . It already has track tie-downs and wheels chocks . I would only have to move the one wheel chock to reposition it for the scoot . Of course I would I would extra tie-down straps to secure scoot as it'sin an angle because of braking and curves . It's a nice trailer and at a good price , so I need to know ASAP to secure the sale . TIA , BEER30
  12. I know there has been a lot of talk about lift tables. I couldn't resist throwing in a thread about the one I just bought. I got the one from Complete Hydraulic. I bought the one with side and front extentions for choppers and a service jack. It's rated for 1500 lbs. I raised the scoot up on it as soon as I put it together. It seemed to be stable but I was still nervous about having the scoot raised up. Has anyone ever dropped a scoot off the table? http://www.completehydraulic.com/tcmlw.html
  13. Well I broke it!!! I changed out friction plates on the clutch on the '87 Venture and lined up the double notches on the clutch boss and put every thing back together the way it came off and after riding it everything was smooth untill it came time to find neutral and it jumped to 2nd. I kept trying to find neutrol untill the housing that holds the shift shaft broke. I have two questions. What would cause the scoot to have a hard to find neutrol after the clutch change and where can I find a new/used housing. I have brought the scoot with me (back of truck) along with the family to SW Florida to do some riding this week and am bummed. Any ideas? Please help with some feedback. Thanks a bunch you guys!!!!
  14. I have nitrogen in all of my vehicle tires and like how long it lasts. Has anyone ever put it in their scoot tires? Curious as to whether or not to expect the same results.
  15. A panoramic view of our place Christmas morning 2008 (created with 7 individual pics) http://i393.photobucket.com/albums/pp16/SilvrT/ChristmasMorningPanoramic.jpg Now, as soon as I get all that snow shovelled off the driveway, out comes the scoot as we'll be heading out for a wonderful day ride.... (in our dreams!)
  16. On Tuesday I and many other Patriot Guard Riders did a ride to New York(from Connecticut) to ride in the Veterans Day Parade there. The turnout of motorcycles was awesome! Anywhooo.....I met a Forum member from here who was on his 2006 Black Cherry RSV.....and danged if I can remember the guys name!! We chatted for a bit and looked each other's scoot over for sure. Hope you see this and respond dude....It was a pleasure meeting you and seeing your RSV! Boomer.....with a failing memory.
  17. It's only been a few weeks since we last rode the scoot, and already I'm going nuts!!! Depression is seting in and I can't wait to rework the scoot and take it out again!! Winter projects include upgraded front suspension and brakes, along with bigger saddlebags and trunk. Came up with a few minor mods as well. The big winter project is getting the '85 running and start it's restoration! What are your winter plans?? Maybe we need a mid winter get together somewhere around here...
  18. Talk about a 1,2,3 knock out punch. Economy woes followed by a nasty stomach bug had MamaMo and I both down for the count by Friday evening. No camping no nothing. She did manage to go to work this morning and I'm thinking about a well deserved ride. Heavy snow in the Midwest and the leaves are peaking here. It's 42 degrees now but 70 -80 in the afternoon. Which scoot should I take? Thats easy only one not running is the second gen. It's the 84 's turn and today is a solo ride. Only thing between me and a good time is a 50 ft crossing.
  19. Haven't taken the time to read all the Darkside threads , but has anyone pulled a trailer while having a CT on their scoot ? How does it handle flat land , cornering , twisties , etc. ? Just curious . BEER30
  20. i have i ipod thats been freezy up on me while on the bike only, i even bought a ipod mount for the scoot and no diffrent, but when i use it in the car for longer then 2 hr not once did it freezy. can some one help me and tell me what can i do about this thanks.:bang head::bang head:
  21. I found this while surfing around today and I got to wondering if anyone around here had tried this air suspension out on their scoot? Its expensive but if it works ok, it might be a good fix for someone. http://www.streetboutiquecustoms.com/yamaha.htm Brian
  22. Nothing on Ebay for an 84. I need to tune up the baron a little. There's a new scoot in town fast to.
  23. Need a cd changer for your scoot? Check out this great deal below. http://cgi.ebay.com/Clarion-DC625-ProAudio-6-Disc-CD-Changer_W0QQitemZ220261874592QQihZ012QQcategoryZ94836QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  24. I've been wanting to do this trip for the past five years. But, every year when the time came I didn't have all my ducks in a row so I couldn't go. Who ever made up the "ducks in a row" rule was really starting to get my goat. I even started believing that getting ducks in a row was an excercise in futility . I just knew it was an impossible task to complete. Like stacking BBs, Programing the VCR, getting the C clip out of the end of the clutch master cylinder, logging more miles ridden or states visited than Wildhair39, understanding what really goes on in the mind of a woman, perpetual motion, staying ahead of the current technology cutting edge. But before I could carve it in stone that it just simply couldn't be done those ding dang ducks marched right up and stood in a row. My real estate projects all got finished sold and closed, all my promises and commitments got satisfied, the scoot is ready after spending the last two weeks tearing her apart and putting her back together.....AGAIN, the trailer is packed, time, money and inclination, check, check, check. I guess those silly ducks just wanted to humble me further by proving me wrong,,,,,AGAIN. So the only thing I can do now is humbly get on the scoot and head out for Sturgis. Which is exactly what I'll be doing before sunrise menyanna. STURGIS, SOUTH DAKOTA 2008 OR BUST

    Mirror fixes

I was really appauled at the prices that the dealers and people on e-bay wanted for stock mirrors for my 89 VR, that I decided to retrofit my own mirrors to my scoot. It was easy and very inexpencive. I think that the fit looks awsome.
