  1. Well me and Mrs Bubber made it home last night but I was unable to post then. Thanks to Don I am back up in running. Thanks to all that attended the Cody Rally but a big thanks go to the organizers. They made it look seamless and that is a massive feat. Thanks guys and gals! Good to see friends made at Pork in the Pines. and great to meet up with new and future friends. What a great time I had meeting and yakking with all of you. Great rides, new friends, great food, what else could a guy want or need? Oh ya Thanks to the people of Cody, very nice people and always willing to help. Thanks Tom for leading the way up to Yellowstone, Chief Joesph Hy Way and Bear-tooth Pass. We don't have that kind of riding in Minnesota. What great rides and great company. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet up with OB-1 on the way out or on the way back, we will meet up again my friend. Wow the cooks or chiefs were fantastic. another great meal had by all. Well I am getting to long winded here, just want everyone to know that it was my pleasure meeting you and I hope you has as good a time as I did. Just sorry it is over. :crying: Bubber
  2. Froggy said to expect more aches and pain in the 40's. I didn't plain on gall bladder surgery and a hurt back in the same year within a couple months. Fell on June 1st at work and hurt my back (top, middle and lower). Still off work. Still some pain. Been going to the chiropractor. No Bike rides for us so far this year.:bawling:Hard for me not to do things I see that need done.
  3. Heading to Montreal today for the annual BRP world dealer meeting and festivities for the next 8 days. I'm especially looking forward to spending some time on a Can Am Roadster to see how it rides versus a traditional trike, as well as riding some of the new Victory models. The weather is supposed to be pretty good, so I think the rides will be nice. Wish I had the time to do a Venture road trip up there, but I'm stuck with Delta airlines instead. I'll let y'all know what I think of their new equipment. Au revois.....
  4. Hey, any tire pros, A Harley friend (Heritage) has asked me a question. I'm guessing she has HD Dunlop 404. She rides local and even did SC to CA last year, so she rides! Your input might help her. I've had so many problems with my front tire. Riding back and forth to work I heard a lot of road noise. New tire, this must be usual! After looking at the tire I noticed the rotation was going the wrong way. So now I need to know whether I should leave the tire as it is or do I have SOMEONE fix the issue. My main question is will the tire seperate like a car tire if you rotate it wrong? This is my front tire and I'm a bit WORRIED. I don't want to be going 80 mph and have a blow out. Thanks EVERYONE. Deb Thanks in advance, Mike G in SC
  5. Wondering if anyone here is taking 1st Gen Ventures on lond distance rides... and how long. I see/hear about newer bikes on long rides, but I haven't really of the 1st Gens.
  6. So, Tom called me from work and said the battery on the 86 Royale was dead. He claims he didn't leave the key in it or on, that he locks the forks. So, I have some questions, does this bike have an alternator or the equiv? Where is the battery? I don't want to start taking body panels off to find it and I have not found battery location in the manual yet (searching on the computer is tedious). I'll be getting his bike a battery tender, as he uses the radio every time he rides and if the BRAND NEW battery isn't holding up there is either something draining it slowly or it isn't charging when he rides. Thanks! PS, my 16 year old daughter just completed an MSF course this weekend. The instructor said she is the most aggressive girl he has ever taught. She did very well, passed, and I didn't even have heart palpitations watching her! Which is big for me.
  7. this bike has been parked next to me at work for the last few days, havn`t seen who rides it, but this thing is clean, not sure of the year, so maybe one of ya`ll can add to this..

    VR App

I just got a smart phone and noticed that there is an app for the Venture Rides site. What does this app do for browsing VR site? Thanks
  9. DO any of you take part in LD Rides and Rallies? If so, which. What are your favourites? Which ones have you planned this year? Do we have any Iron Butt Rally 2011 entrants here? For my own part, I have one SaddleSore 1000 under my butt, done this year on the Triple. Probably one more this summer.
  10. I live in the hampton rhoads area of VA and I was curious if there was anyone else with a venture that live around this area that would possibly want to meet up and ride sometime? Or if there were goin to be any rides anywhere near here. I looked on the calender and saw the meet and eat in greensboro and as of now am not sure if I would be wanting to drive that far yet, but who knows by that time things may have changed. Thanks everyone for your help and support, I appreciate all of you and the help you give.
  11. had a 150+ mile day. Lunch with an old friend and her hubby. She rides her own Virgo, while hubby and new friends ride HDs. http://www.motorcycleroads.com/routes/SouthEast/MS/MS_5.shtml
  12. Guys and girls we may have a new NY member shortly. He rides a Harley so I told him you guys would be nice to him and ride a little slow so we didn't lose him on the rides. He rode with us last year on the fingerlakes ride but headed home in PenYan. Remember BIg Tom play nice.
  13. I would like to install running and brake LED tail lights (I understand they don't draw much power from the electric system/battery, right?) and yet they look very cool to me. I'm pretty sure some of you have done it to your rides. Could you please tell me where do I get those, I know I can google it but, I prefer just follow what you have done. Thanks Rudy:)
  14. the 2011 meramec state park meet is now listed for sept. 8th, thru the 10th, 2011 on the calender and regional rides and rallies. check it out.
  15. We are planning to attend Americade this year, the week after Freebird's maintenance day. After checking out the registration form on line, I'm a little confused and undecided. http://store.tourexpo.com/productcart/pc/home.asp Wondering if someone who has been there and done that can advise us on how to do it. Is the full registration worth it? How about the organized rides? Seems like all the rides etc. cost extra $$$. Is it better just to pay to get into the trade show and go on our own rides? I don't mind paying the fees if they are worth it. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
  16. Ok just bought a 2005 RSTD so what is the best money spent for a comm system. Needs to work with driver/passenger, driver to other driver and ability to connect to a cell phone for long rides. Willing to pay a finders fee, ok well maybe just send you chocolate chip cookies in the mail. No guarrenty that they will get to you.
  17. Going to be at Branson for 4-5 days for a reunion with some old military friends. We are going to ride the bike up that way...my question, what are some good rides around that area? I know it is a beautiful area...just want to make sure we make good use of our time.
  18. I searched for Missouri in hopes it would yield some members close to me, but did not that I could find. I am in North East Missouri. New London specifically, Hannibal is my neighboring town most are familiar with. Looking forward to some nice rides with my wife this year. Would be great to ride along with some other Venture riders.
  19. Getting new shoes on the RSV tomorrow, and the "2011 Tour" is really shaping up to be a good one! Departing the ATL on: ~ Feb 25 - Palm Beach FL - 6 days ~ March 5 - Daytona Bike Week - 7 days ~ May 26 - Washington DC (Rolling Thunder) - 5 days ~ June 10 - Dayton OH - 4 days ~ June 23 - White Sulpher Springs, WVA - 5 days ~ Sept 8 - Philly PA (for 9/11 memorial) - 6 days Not sure how many miles that is, but it's more than I've done in a long time in one calendar year, not including the weekly 200 - 300 mile rides we do to the mountains from March through November, and all of the other shorter rides with the PGR and WWR. 2011 is gonna be a great year. It has to be, cause 2010 sucked! So when is the N. GA maintenance day???
  20. zooer

    Holy crap!

Wow, I got two rides in today! It warmed up over 40 F. After the past two weeks that called for rides. :cool10: Hope some of ya's were as lucky.
  21. I travel to work day in and day on my 05RSTD! I'm only grounded during ice on the road otherwise rain, snow, or heat doesn't matter I'm riding. Like my old Sergeant use to say "There is no such thing as a rusty Ranger!" Just curious on who also rides all year and how far north do you live? The Maine picture was where I lived as a kid in Loring AFB, Maine. Actually did not ride then.
  22. Hello again everyone. I've been gone for a while, and thought I should share what's been going on. It's been a difficult couple of years, with good news and bad news. A few months before buying our RSV, my wife started having unexplained pain in her legs. It got worse and worse, and eventually she couldn't stand or walk for more than a couple of minutes. Unable to work, she lost her job. After 2 years and close to 100 doctor appointments and tests at multiple hospitals and other medical centers, we still have no diagnosis. We don't know what it is. We just know what it isn't. And without a root cause, there is no way to fix it. Anyway, that's the reason we've been missing and our riding was so limited, even before we went missing. The good news: We had a break through of sorts. We still don't know the cause of the pain, but one of the spine doctors suggested a specialized device to help mask the pain. She had the surgery about 3 months ago and is doing much, much better. We even went out on a couple of short rides on the RSV! The bad news is that I don't see Venture-type (longer) rides anytime soon. The RSV is spending most of it's life just sitting in the garage, and I don't know how long that will continue. So, we've decided to sell it. If things continue to improve, we might get something smaller in the spring just to do short rides, and hopefully we can meet up with the GA group again for breakfasts or lunches or something. We enjoyed your company and comaraderie very much in the times we've shared with you.
  23. First let me wish you all a very 'MERRY CHRISTMAS" from Taters and myself. I personally want to thank all of you for being part of my extended family. I want to thank the NY gang for putting up with me and for all the help throughout the year with with my annual rally and for their contributions in making ALL our rides and meet and eats a success. (this includes my friend north of the border !). Taters and I have made some truly wonderful everlasting friends here...From all the wonderful people we have met at MD, our rides and m&e's, thank you for being such a joy to be around.. If I have ever posted anything that offended you I am truly sorry, that was never my intent and I ask your forgiveness...Sometimes my fingers type faster than my brain works...Freebird what can I say, did you ever realize the impact you would have on peoples lives when you started this forum? I don't think so...So again "THANK YOU ALL" for being such great friends, for making me laugh when I'm having a bad day, for making me cry when I think I'M going thru hard times, for reminding me what true friendship is all about, and for humbling me with all your acts of kindness toward each other...GOD BLESS YOU ALL...
  24. Yea!! Got my new Works Shock yesterday, mailed them my Bank Money Order on Dec.3 and received the shock on the 16th. pretty good turn around I think!! Now I just need to pick a week end to install it, looking like next week though, just have to much going on to do it this week end..but can`t wait to see how it rides.
  25. I looked at a web site posted by "Hunter 1500" about the Guardian bells and found this verse at the bottom of the page, I thought it put into perspective why each of us rides, not just Venture's but any motorcycle and should....for those who did not see it...be shared. We are all family Ian http://www.moccsplace.com/images/gif/twinkle.gif Our lives each touch a chord with all we encounter. That chord sounds out in a song that plays only a memory of times passed by. So sweet the passage of time, so bitter the memories of people passed by. We have but one life, and no matter how good or bad, we have the ability to shape the lives around us. In our own worlds we are miles apart, separated by our beliefs, our understandings, and our view on our world. The tides that bind us is friendship and common bonds that sweep forth and turn the tides that ravage human kind. We are connected in a single effort to belong together, and be a family of bikers. On our steeds we are set free, the problems of the world no longer apply. We find our peace, and each other. It is on the road we search, and our steeds take us far. We gather those who would accept us, and pass by those that will not. We share our love of riding, and our pain of loss. Each of us carries the scars left by a world not so understanding, but through all we endure we have each other. If you accomplish no more than this you have touched my life and made one person feel not so alone. You have given me a family that I never had, and welcomed me faithfully. I may be different from every one else, but truly on the road we are all brothers and sisters. Keep your rides safe, and let us meet and share a toast to new friendships, and better rides ahead. No one is the least in our band, no one, is rejected, when we are cruising together. --Mike Burnham "DrMikeRB"
