  1. If there is one thing that I hate, it's being stumped, and carburetors I am in the process of getting Dave P's '86 back together and the #2 carb is being a PITA. I set all the other floats on the other 3 carbs with relatively little difficulty. #2 we the one that I couldn't get the pilot valve out of and Yammer Dan ended up sending me a set of carbs he had so I could swap the bodies out. I have had this carb broke down several times now and soaked it good with carb cleaner in all the ports and passeges that I know of and can see. Here's the deal, no matter where I bend the tang to set the float level it never is right. It is always too high I can't get it to come down. I have looked at the seat and needle, even replace the needle with a different one from one of the spare carbs. It seem to me that gas is filling from possibly somewhere else. It's not flowing over but no matter what I do, it will not set right. I have said it before, I suck with carbs, and it irritates the crap out of me that I need to take time to learn them and I hate that! I need some help from you carb guys out there, I'm at my wits end here and Dave needs his bike back....give me some guidance please
  2. I did some checking on here and found a cross over to another oil filter that I picked up at pep boys, since its a car filter and not a bike so to speek does it matter? I seen on a web site they have a adapter to run the regular filters so they seal does anyone use these or does it matter? I am running what I bought at pep boys and so far its working but I dont want to have a issue and not know it til its to late. Thanks
  3. I think anyone with children or grandchildren will think this is awesome! This is without a doubt, The MOST Incredible video I have seen.!!! How did they hold the mom back to do this!!? It doesn't matter who you are, or how busy you are. This is a 'must watch' video, and I hope you'll pass it along. http://www.childdrowningprevention.com/index.html
  4. :Venture:What a great day.. the sun is shining going to be around 73, the Geese are flying North and I have Robbins in the yard,,, just a matter of time now, and I`ll be complaining about mowing the yard....
  5. Hi all, It has been a while since I took my sense of humor over my broken backside for a spin I thought I'd take a minute and fill you in on my progress. so far, none to speak of. For my two boys however this is far from the case! I am simply dumbfounded by how quickly and accurately they have assessed my limitations! This I can manage because there is no way I will be bested by a two and six year old, no matter how nefarious they are as a team! The part I didn't see coming and will likely never hear the end of that for the first time in my romantic career, I am the one consistently saying NO. To be more accurate, it's "OH hell no"!! Pain
  6. It's been a really rotten week at work and with what's going on in the world I've been in a real schlump this week but......just when I'm starting to enjoy my pity party that I was having, I stepped outside this morning. Wow... crystal clear blue skies, warm sun hitting my face, the trees are at thier peak.... I don't know about the rest of you, but come 5:00 the hubby and I are jumping on the bikes and it doesn't matter where we go. It's going to be great!! Hope you all get a chance to ride this weekend cuz life doesn't get any better than that!! Happy Friday!
  7. Gas prices up locally $0.45 already this morning to $4. Heard in city near by up to $5.05 for reg. Ike is going to cost everybody big time, no matter where you live. I wish the folks of Texas well, but it looks like you are going to get it! RandyA
  8. I am installing a tach on my 06 RSV. Putting it on the right side of the bars. Can anyone tell me where the coils are at? The picture in the RSV manual makes it appear it is behiind one of the side ocovers?? Also anyone know which terminal is positive and which is negative on the coil? And does it matter which coil I hook it up to? I don't think it should matter. Thanks for your help!! Erns
  9. hi all will 07 harley road king exhaust fit 07 RSV, was wondering since i thought the roadking was fuel injected but then again maybe it doesn't matter, anyway anyone using these on RSV thanks Brian D.
  10. I had ordered the Bubs exhaust and before I received them I'd drilled 4 half inch holes in each stock muffler and they sounded pretty good. I decided to have the "bubs" put on yesterday and they're a little louder than I thought they'd be but I love them!! They have a nice throaty growl and people will notice them. They really sound good idling and also when you gear down. Heck, they sound good no matter how you're driving. Just thought I'd tell you about it in case there are some riding the fence on them. They're great!! Eddie Flinchum--Winchester, Ky.
  11. Seems like no matter how old you are or how experienced you are, you always find out something new. I have been beating myself senseless trying to find a decent modular helmet that fits. I've tried just about everyone's models and no matter what, be it a "round" shape or "oval" shape, my chin is always against the chinbar and hard into my forehead. I've talked to many different companies with no help. Finally I called a small little ebay shop to ask about Cabergs. After chatting he told me that it doesn't really matter what "shape" your head is, the biggest issue for fitting is.... your neck. He says that a helmet is designed to fit into the crook of the back of your neck. If you are like me with no neck then no matter what you try, the fit is going to be off as the helmet isn't going to seat properly. So I can look for something that has a small or even no neck roll or modify one by trimming. I suppose everyone knew this already but something new to me after all this time.
  12. So, what do you think? Is the new XOG that much better, or just a bit different? Does anyone have one? All I know is what I read on the forum. It has less battery life and some issues to resolve. But plugged in to 12v, shouldn't matter, right? Steve
  13. My dog was nice enough to tear up BOTH of my seats. If you have one sitting in the garage, let me know how much you want for it. Color doesn't matter. I have an 84 standard, but any seat 83-93 should fit. Thanks
  14. Do we detect a.............SCAM????????:scared: 2002 Venture with 13701 miles and a buy it now in the description of only $2900.00:rotfl::rotfl: As a Matter of fact the picture even looks familiar. 15. Who owns who? Does it really matter? :confused24: http://www.tirebusiness.com/subscriber/databook/whoownswhom2007.pdf
  16. Anyone out there knows how to clean whitewall tires? I am having trouble finding stuff that doesn't require a lot of hard work and will properly restore the whitewall on my bike's tires. No matter what I use there is still some yellow marks, along the outside perimeter, that I can't get rid of. Thanks for your help. Hermann
