Thought the site might be interested in info contained on the following help from St. Jude to a military mother on her return (I think mother) finding her son seriously ill. Here's the site as I copied it today on the news: (Hope it works) http://www.tg.stjude.org/patients/max/?tngsourcecode=THWAOLDO11&plt=THWAOLDO1112&icid=main%7Chtmlws-main-n%7Cdl10%7Csec1_lnk3%7C185815 Jack Z:Venture:

Hi All, Does anyone have info on the Markland cruise control? I have an 83 VR1200 (1300 86 engine,) and it doesn't work currently. I would like to find some info, schematic, etc. on the electronics on it. When I got the bike, it would work intermittently. I took apart the head, and resoldered some connections that looked iffy, and then it worked fine. I rteplaced the wheat lamps in it, and it lights up, but now there is no response from the cruise unit, it does not pull the throttle cables like it should (not at all). This is the aftermarket one, not the factory VR cruise like the 84 on has. Thanks in advance!

Don, Just wondering if it would be possible to put just a tad bit more info in a welcome post for new members? When I see someone from VA being welcomed I try and find where they are from. Maybe adding their home town, if you have it, would be nice. Instead of "Welcome Joe from Va" it would be "Welcome Joe from Manassas, Va". If I see that someone is clear across the state then I'm less likely to bother them to see where they are. Just a thought.

It's possible that I may need to look for a new career path. Ever since I was a kid I wanted to drive the big rigs. Do we have any truckers and can you spare some info and advice? Thanks in advance. Wayne

OK I am leaving the Peoria, Il area Tuesday Morning the 21st to ride up to St Paul, MN to reconnect with a sister I have not seen in 31 years. I was wondering if anyone can suggest roads to ride up that way that are great for riding. I am planning on leaving around 6:30 am and do not need to be there until around 7:00 pm so want to enjoy my ride up. Doesn't have to be exactly the best way but want to see the sights on my way up and back. I will be returning Thursday the 23rd. Anyone not doing anything and want to ride a little bit let me know where to meet you and you and I can ride a ways up before you have to turn around. Any info will be great. Thanks Rick

I just visited the site to get info on Star Touring for someone else on here. http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/modelhome/586/0/home.aspx While I was there, I took a look at the Royal Star line up, just for laughs. They offered an on line poll about their site, so I took it, and let them know what I wasn't happy about. Here's the things I put in the comment boxes. Trying to find info on 2011 Royal Star Venture models. Instead I see you're still advertising 09 models! What's coming in 2011 for the Venture??? Found info quickly I just wasn't happy with what I found out about the Venture model line. Will the venture be around in 2011, and will it be the same as my 2005, or a new bike with FI and more power? Check it out, and give Mama Yama a piece of your mind! Later, Scooter Bob

I am again wanting to do an attendance list of emergency numbers for folks coming to Asheville this year. Thankfully, we did not have to use the info for a crash situation, but it was used a couple of times to retrieve a bike that had a mechanical problem, and some coordinating of meet-ups. I would like to use this format so I can just do a cut & paste: It also helps if you keep it a simple font and no color. Your name(s), phone numbers, where staying, estimated arrival, emergency contact number with name or relationship. Randy Atkins 423-726-0431 , KOA, Wed noon, 423-335-1484/423-257-8666, son Please forward it to my home email; rsatkins@comcast.net or PM me here. I will have copies for everyone upon arrival and will be glad to e-mail you a copy before you leave of the info I have by Tuesday night. Thanks, RandyA

1ST LET ME SAY. I need a new rear tire....I corner the hell out of my bike. I am under 200#. My 800# 87VR "sport bike" is set w/30 psi in the rear suspension W/PROGREESIVE SPRINGS FRONT AND REAR.. . The SIDE STAND AND CENTER stand tabs are worn to nubbs. The saddlebag trim is now trimmed to a unique shape. Get the idea? I cannot find any info on this tire being USED by us 1st Gen. riders? I love the handling of the Avon's. But now the cracking issue is not going away. I am considering the Commander. I had Dunlops in the past and they do NOT provide the "feedback" I need while cornering. SO I need a great handling rear tire that give me feel, aka feed back in the corners...NOT AVON, NOT E3's. Does anyone have some 1st hand, 1st gen info, feedback? And what's the max. PSI for the commander rear tire? What mileage life should I get? I got 10k out of the Venom rear. Any ideas, info or suggestions are much appreciated.

Hi guys, sometime early next month, my buddy and I are heading out on yet another long road trip and we thought of trying something new. Entering the USA at Houlton Maine, we would be proceeding south on the I95. We're thinking of hitting Mount Washington in NH and then down to what we heard is one heck of a nice ride, the "Skyline", the "Blue Ridge Parkway" and then the famous Deels Gap (dragon's tail) If you have detailed info as to where these routes start, how to get there etc via town names to plug into the GPS, what to expect, especially if you yourself have had personal experience on these routes, please do drop me a line. As mentioned, we would be coming from the north heading south.. Thanks in advance.. Cheers

I was thinking about getting a GPS unit for the bike with the ability to move it to the car as needed. The motorcycle specific ones are way out of my price range. I was looking at this one in the link and it looked pretty good at a decent price. Anyone have any pro or con info on this or similar units like the garmin 255? Is it worth the price? Will it hold up? I know nothing about GPS units so any info would be appreciated. http://www.thegpsstore.com/Garmin-Nuvi-265WT-Wide-Screen-GPS-System-P1924.aspx

I have been on-line all over and contacted numerous salvage yards with no luck. If someone runs across some pillow top seats, would you please send me a personal message with the info. I'm not too good on following these threads. Thanks in advance for any help I receive from everyone. chuck
