  1. lots of 1st gen parts on ebay right now, and ive been outbid on a front fender emblem/trim........was just wondering if someone here was after the same piece i was LOL
  2. Hi here is a copy of an add I placed in the Classified Wanted section. I don't know how much people check that section so I thought I would give it a jump start and mention it here. Thanks for any help, Harry All chrome pieces on my 2001 Venture need replacing but the worse is the rear turn signal arms with or without turn signals. Rear fender end chrome fender tip. Rear fender side chrome pieces ( the pieces that the rear passenger and rear trunk rack bolt over). The rear antenna mounts and front passing light bar mount with or without passing lights. That all I can afford right now. Thanks for your help, Harry
  3. the trim, or emblem ive seen on 86+ VR's have a trim piece on the front fender. does this fit the 83-85? if so, does anyone have one in good condition lying around? i tried classifieds, but didnt find anything.......... irydasteelhorse
  4. :puzzled:Is anyone using the Verticle Hide A Hitch from Diamond R Accessories? If so, are you pleased with the function and looks? It sounds like a great idea. I was just curious about clearance, how visible it is when the receiver is removed, and how the safety chains would clear the fender. It looks like they will be hooked up and under the fender...
  5. I have a concern about the rear wheel on my Venture. I had her in for some work recently and while it was up on the rack, I noticed that it appears that, from looking from the rear of the bike, it looks like the rear wheel is mounted closer to the right side of the bike than right in the middle. In other words, it doesn't appear to be centered in the fender. Anyone ever seen this and what could be the problem (if there IS a problem.) I'm kinda wondering that when I had her in for new tires, did they do something wrong, leave something out, etc. Any Idears???
  6. Does anyone have the bushing that goes in between the saddle bag and the fender on a 2005 RSTD? It's chrome and about 1" long. A bolt goes through the rear end of saddlebag then the bushing then into the fender. Going to need it shortly so hopefully someone has a spare they want to sell. If I can't locate one on here anybody know they part # so I can order it? Thanks and God Bless. mike
  7. Leave it up to me..... After the thread the other day about loose bolts I put my '07' up on the stand and started cleaning and tightening. When I got around to the front fender left side front I find nothing but a hole and a few scratch marks where the fender has been bouncing. If anybody has a bolt - I'd be more than happy to buy it 'cause I'm sure the local dealer will have to order it and that'll mean a 2 or 3 week interval and a lot more scratches
  8. Check it out! I mounted my mack truck hood ornament on my fender. It's appropriate, I think. Anybode else have anything other than the stock fender ornament mounted? http://www.tomatojoe.com/Personal/mack-1.jpg http://www.tomatojoe.com/Personal/mack-2.jpg http://www.tomatojoe.com/Personal/mack-3.jpg http://www.tomatojoe.com/Personal/mack-4.jpg (Sorry for the pics, I have no idea how to attach them as pop-ups...)
  9. Just sittin' at work thinking about weekend bike plans (and work too of course)...I've got a mudflap to install on my 06RSV. Just wondering if I can remove the front fender completely simply by removing the 4 bolts, without removing the tire. Can I get the fender out by doing that? It'd be a lot easier to drill holes & install the flap while it's sitting on the workbench! Thanks in advance for the info...now I'll get back to work! JR
  10. Hey new to the forum, have been on other forums. Glad to find this one. Anyhow. Looking for an undamaged front fender. I was a bit curious about putting a Kawasakids drifter fender on there but probably not. (anyone do this?? pics) Don't really care about the color as i am going to paint my venture this upcoming summer. Also i am removing the trunk. It would be great if the front fender didnt' have holes. but if it does i can fill them. Thanks.
  11. I was wondering if anybody knew what part number is the METAL Chrome Rear Fender Tip Called a FLAP I DO NOT want the plastic one. STR-4NL-21621-10-00 (FLAP) And there is another part number that is ----------STR-4YE-2626-92 (FLAP) Thanks for any help. Jeff
  12. Ok, y'all know the sad tale of me trying to get my bike painted and losing the parts. Now that I've got the new Gwing, I'm feeling better about asking for some help. Here's what I got back: front fender gas tank some side covers both saddle bags (bottoms only) trunk (bottom only) the dealer claims he has a fairing, but I haven't seen it. This means I need: a rear fender both right and left cowlings (I think that's what they're called) lids for saddle bags and trunk passenger back rest w/speakers and all of the hardware that goes along So, anyone got any of the above laying around?
  13. So I have decided to remove the passenger seat and pillion. I don't do any 2 up since my wife is deathly afraid of motorcylces. I was originally going to get the rear fender rack, but wanted to avoid more chrome (I know, I know, bikes are supposed to have chrome) because I like the look of the black and I think chrome take away from it (IMHO). So after some thought and inputs from my wife, I came up with a new idea. Had a piece of 3/8 smoked plexiglass from an old stereo cabinet in my collection of stuff I never throw out. Took some measurements, did a little online research and came up with a plan. I cut the piece to size, sanded and buffed all the scratches out. Cleaned up the edges and then warmed up the piece in the oven at 270 for 30 min (did some test pieces to figure out the right time). Took the warm piece to the covered fender and molded it to fit. After it cooled, I drilled out the holes, put some spacers in. I couldn't find the right size screw for the back and Home Depot, have to try another place. Below is the end result. Total cost, $3.75 in spacers and screws. Next step is to get the "STAR" laser engraved on the back. Should look good.
  14. Hey Gang, I am SLOWLY trying to get the old 86'VR back on the road after the trailer accident and was wondering if anyone has a front fender skirt or "Mud Flap" for a First Gen. MK2 that they would like to part with. If you had the fasteners as well that would be more than I could hope for but if not that's OK. I've been trying to buy a fender with one off of Ebay and the prices have been unbelievable! I would be very grateful for any help in locating this item. I can PayPal you or send a check. Thanks in advance, Earl
  15. My local Yamaha Dealer has some great girls working in the parts dept. They seem to get just about everything I need in record time. A few weeks ago, while I was in picking up a new heated vest, they gave me a bag with a few parts in it knowing I could get rid of them, and I did, except for the following: The rear chrome trim from the front fender, RSV. An incomplete set of wood grain stickers for the RSV dash. (the circled pieces in the photo below) Maybe needed for replacing damaged pieces. These parts are free for the asking, just pm me... http://www3.telus.net/drbar/pics/STR-4XY26-72-0R.jpg
  16. I ask for opinions & got a few. So here goes. Wife says she won't ride with me if I'm pulling it. Boy, pulling a trailer all the time might get old. Axle is now narrowed and under it. Fender just sitting there to see if that's what I really want to do. Tail lights & turn signals. Tails a little bigger than I'd like but gotta stay legal. Stay tuned.

    1983 venture type?

recently got a 1983 venture and was looking at several pics on-line and noticed that i haven't seen one that has a front fender like mine. i was just wondering if it was a special edition trim or just some retard trying to dress up the bike, anyway the front fender has a rack on it kinda like a luggage rack and it also has a running light on the top of the fender. kinda like the old indians had (no indian head just a running light) any thoughts???????? later
  18. Hey folks, got me a new bike! Looks to be a 1986 Venture Royale. A bit of polish and some Sea Foam and good to go. Actually, I am going to go fetch it and tear it down for spares. (It was the only way to get the chrome fender bottom) JB
  19. that Tom from Piggy Backer offers. I purchased a Piggy Backer XL in April and love it. On our last trip up the Blue Ridge I got too close to something and cracked one of the fenders. I contacted Tom to get the cost of a replacement. He had me send him a picture of the fender, since he has used two different types on the XL. The day after I sent him the picture, he asked for my address and send me a new fender at no charge!!! He did not even want the cost of shipping. Other companies could learn alot about customer service from this guy. If you are in the market for a trailer be sure to contact Tom at Piggy Backer. You will not be disappointed.
  20. Is it possible to put the RSV trunk and seat on a Tour Delux? Seems that all the right bolt holes are there in the side fender rails. Not sure about the seat and rear fender. I have a friend who's passenger want's a bit more comfort.
  21. Hi - Probably dumb question - if I jack the bike up level, just high enough so the rear tire is barely grounded or say 1/4 inch off the ground, can I change the rear shock assy without removing the rear fender and rear wheel like the maintenance book says? Or do I have to take everything off to do it? Help appreciated! Thanks!
  22. A guy has a front fender bumper listed on ebay and says it will fit both the 1200 and 1300 Venture Royale. I didn't think it would fit my '88. Can anyone confirm which models it will fit? Here is the item: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=007&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=170235909733&rd=1 Thanks a lot.
  23. I know there are a number of aftermarket drivers backrests for the 2nd. gen Royal Star Venture. I am trying to find the name and contact info for the manufacturer of the backrest that attaches to the outside fender bolts for support. The frame of the backrest goes around the outside of the seat, rather than between the passender seat and drivers seat (ala Utopia style). Your help is appreciated. MickO
  24. Greetings oh knowledgeable ones... I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the Fender ornament on my 99 RSV is a Yamaha ornament. More importantly, does anyone know where I can get a replacement rubber base for it? The one on this ornament is rotting and cracked. Thanks in advance!
  25. First: I'm not that fat. 225 lbs. No passengers on bike in some time. 35k miles on the bike's odometer. Garage kept, but not temperature controlled, on Long Island, NY. Now... While re-installing a freshly charged battery into my 99 RSV, I noted that both sides of the frame are cracked completely through in the piece that the rear tab of the driver's seat would go into. This piece also has two bolts that go into the rear fender, essentially providing almost all the support for anything over the rear tire (rear seat, trunk, saddlebags, etc.). (See attached scan from parts diagram; I can hopefully take and attach an actual image of this part on the bike another time.) I also noticed the beginning of a 'kink' in the right side of the rear fender, apparently due to the stress of the saddlebag support pieces having to carry all the weight from above. Has ANYONE here had this happen to them? Or heard of other's in a similar situation? I'm kinda bummed about the riding season starting real soon and the possibility of no bike for an extended period of time until this is fixed. Plus, I just sent off the insurance premium and registration fees. Welding recommendations (type, process, who can do it)? Difficulties involved (other than getting the fender and related parts off)?
