  1. Hi every one hope you all had a GREAT Xmas and Top NEW YEARS This post is for, I have a clicking noise coming from the rear of my bike, it happens only when I move my bike with the motor not running. Has this happened to any of your bikes? If so what was the problem and what was the way it was fixed. Thanks PIPER FROM ADELAIDE SOUTH AUSTRALIA
  2. Found these skins for $12.00.They measure 24"X44".Genuine 100% sheepskins.Comes in two colors, champagne and charcoal.I put them in my truck, car both bikes and chairs on the sundeck.
  3. Does anyone know of a Website that shows specifically that Parking on a 45 degree angle or with rear tire touching curb is the "proper" way to park? A local Township by me just started ticketing motorcycles that do not park parallel with the parking lines AND ticket bikes that share a parking spot. They claim the Metered Parking is to prevent people from parking all day and to give other people a chance to get into the town yet they ticket Bikes that share parking spots ( greedy town that wants the revenue). They just put in Meters in this Township and they are really busting chops. I'd love to send them a link that shows and explains the reasoning behind parking bikes as most of us do.
  4. hello every one. does any one know anything about these bikes. my next door neighbor is moving to AZ luck sob. well he has 4 bikes and said to me. i just cant take them all. then said theres a old yamaha maxim. 750cc. that i just dont want to take. it has 22.000 miles on it. has not been run in over 8 years. he made me a offer i could not refuse. he said its yours!! just go down to the dmv with me today. pay the transfer. and get new plates. i said damn its a deal. i got a fair looking bike for around $135.00 its now sitting next to my venture. ok seeing as it hasent been running for 8 years when my knee heals. im going to work on this bike as a possible bike for the girlfriend. its a low seat bike. . and shes short. i opened the gas cap and phewwwwwww. the varnish smell knocked me over LOL. i am not going to atempt to start this bike. with out draining the tank. the carb bowls. the fuel filter and maybe the petcock? and theres some rust around the inside of the tank. maybe cream it? all in all it looks like a good starter bike for her. shes going to take the motorcycle safety course. she does know how to operate dirt bikes so i think she will do just fine.
  5. Hey folks. I have a lot of bikes and do a whole lot of bike maintenance in my home shop for myself and others. I've always had the mechanics curse and can't say no to any motorcycle or car repair challenge:detective:. I'm getting older:backinmyday: and am tired of kneeling or lying down to work on bikes. I retired a few years back, but stayed around until my replacement can take over (next June). So, with more available time, I want to keep working on bikes, but have things a little easier. Looking to buy a 1500# motorcycle lift table pneumatic/hydraulic type and am looking for input on the most recommended one out there. A 1000 # will probably do, but I don't wanna leave a 900+ # bike on a 1000 # lift for any extended period if it takes a while for repairs/parts. Maybe I'm overkilling the need. Chime in and tell me your thoughts. Size isn't an issue. I have room. Dependablility and durability are my priorities. O.K., now I'm open for your suggestions....and thanks!
  6. Hey guys, It seems like the seats I have reworked recently, the individuals have sent me an e-mail asking if I still did this. Some of these have heard about me from friends or other sources. But many are members of this forum, where I'm guessing that many of you do not know (or forgotten) that I have an ad in the Classifieds under 2nd Gen Accessories: http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1023/cat/7 Well I say ad? A while back Don was helping me with it when I was having a problem with some of it getting truncated. And his response was "Rick, this isn't an ad....it's a freakin novel". I'll admit I sometimes get carried away, but I feel too much is better that not enough? Anyway I thought I would just remind everyone of this ad. Even though I've done seats all year, I'm starting to get busy as you folks up north start putting your bikes up for the winter. And for now I'm only an exclusive to the Venture Riders, so I'm really your secret....unless you want to send me a friend who needs help. I've never turned away a referral. Thanks, Rick Oh, I've finally got my first Corbin. I't sad that it's off a 1000 VStrom instead of a Venture. But I'll let you know how it goes and what's really under the cover.
  7. I am 59 years young and got my first bike at 16 (1965 Honda 305 Scrambler). My parents where not happy but allowed me to have a bike. Many years and bikes later at age 50 I purchased a 2004 BMW RT1150 and my Dad says to a family member that I am to old for a motorcycle. Anyway... a he has passed away and so has my Mom. My Mom's sister tells me that my parents used to bike all over California where they met during the war. Did your Dad ever ride and failed to mention it ???? Cb
  8. As most of you know, I have been Laid Off from Lockheed/Martin for the last 11 plus months and I have been working on bikes to keep my head above water. Well, I took my first big gulp of H2O this afternoon when I watched my 86'VR go home with it's new owner and my pride and joy, my 86' V65 Magna being trailered off. What with regular bills, Taxes, and now heating oil, i sorta' got backed into a corner. I am pretty much blowing out prices on items I have from my shop that I kept in stock to service the many members that have come to "My little shop by the creek" I have First and Second Gen. R1 Caliper Swap kits in the classifieds as well as First Gen. Stock calipers for sale. All have been rebuilt and can be shipped with or without pads. It looks like it is going to be a long winter here in Pa. and if any of my ads interest you, please let me know. http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2445/cat/500 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2446/cat/500 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2443/cat/500 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2330/cat/500 http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/2333/cat/500 To all of the VR.ORG members that have given me the privilege to work on your bikes I am grateful, as is my family. Without knowing it, you have fed my family and kept the lights on! I have attached a pic of each of the two bikes that are now gone. My Stable is looking pretty "thin" these days. Thanks for all that you have done, Earl
  9. We went for a nice fall ride today and went thru Pisgah, IA where I saw a silver 2nd Gen along side the road. I couldn't stop, as we had a couple of other bikes with us and we were on our way to dinner. I'm just curious if it was someone on here. craigr
  10. Pardon my ignorance, but I have pictures on the forum of my Venture Royale not that it matters but I'm wondering. I have the bike up for sale cause it is too big for me (short at one end). The highest offer iv'e got for this bike so far is $1800.00 I'm in Alberta. Is there something wrong with me cause I feel I will burn it and watch the flames and savor the heat before I let it go for that. The bike is perfect. Am I being unrealistic about price are these bikes worth nothing? She's an 85 but I have seen smaller bikes go for a lot more. Can someone clue me in please, I'm really not an advanced bike guy Thanks, good on ya and Cheers
  11. Hi everyone, glad to be here, this looks like a great site. I have been riding for over 40 years (showing my age) and have pretty much done it all...street, motocross, trials and ice racing. Now I just ride for enjoyment. The mind would still like to compete but the body refuses. I recently purchased a 1996 Royal Star in excellent condition with 40,000 km. The only thing I changed was made a taller windshield to stop helmet buffetting and replaced the leather saddlebags with a set of leatherlyke bags I got off Kijiji. I like to keep my bikes basic which was the appeal of the RS. Will probably add a tach at some time but that's about it. I have also owned an '85 Venture Royale that I sold a few bikes ago. Great bike but I can only afford one at a time and there are so many bikes and so little time. I plan on keeping the RS for quite awhile. I am quite frugal (some would say cheap) and like to tinker so a lot of the things on my bike are homemade or adapted from other parts. I look forward to participating on this forum and meeting many of the members in writing or in-person. Doug
  12. Here's a question just to see what the answers will be. Just curious. I do a good bit of riding and notice this alot. Why do riders of certain bikes(read-"American made") haul their bikes around on trailers or the back of pickups? Yea, I'm gonna stir it up now!!! Heh Heh Heh:duck::duck:
  13. Headed to Townsend TN. from Gulfport, MS. Wed. Oct 7th. Will be staying at Riverstone Lodge through Sunday the 11th. Anyone interested in riding along or a M&E in the area let us know. Right now there are three bikes going, same group that went to Arkansas rally with me a month ago. Man I can't wait!!
  14. Just got XM in a new tundra and really like it, so I'm thinking about getting an XM for the bike. anybody got any ideas/positive experiences with these? Which models work well with our bikes? THANKS!
  15. I have noticed a funny rattleing sound ,that I think may be coming from the exhaust.I have been told that these bikes have a problem with the collector box! Is this true and is there a fix? Thanks Stan
  16. We took a nice ride today and ended up at Bills Biker Barn in Bloomsburg,Pa. if you are anywhere near this place ya gotta stop in and check it out. It is amazing the guy has bikes and memorabilia from everywhere. There is so much stuff you dont know where to look. It would be an awesome place for a Meet-n-Eat, it is definetly worth the $5 admission to anyone who likes bikes and or antiques. He had a coin operated player guitar, just like an old player piano, but a guitar instead. Check it out, it worth the trip. Craig
  17. I have found a 1999 K 1200 Lt BMW with 15000 miles in great shape. Has anyone ever owned one of these and can you tell me if they are good and dependable bikes. I can buy it for $7000.00.

  19. I've had these on my other bikes and wanted to know if someone could tell me which will work on my 03 RSV? Thanks
  20. :biker:Do you name your bike(s)? If so.... what is its / their name? I've never came up with a name to stick mine with, but many of my friends have named theirs...
  21. I've been thinking of sprucing up the old blue goose. What's the best color you have seen on a 1st gen. It has'nt got to be a stock color. You no how some colors just don't look right on some bikes. That's what I'm trying to avoid. Post some pics if possible or color codes. Thanks:mytruck1:
  22. I have been off the site for a while as my computer blew up with all kind of viruses. Still dont have it right so I am borrowing one till I do.I will be leaving on Friday morning for Bikes, Blues and BarBQ in Arkansas and will not be back until Sunday after next. Never been to this rally but heard it is great and will be traveling with 2 other trikes and 3 bikes. Anybody else gonna be there?Sorry to have missed St. Jude, Lewis but I didn't know when it was since I didn't have a computer. Maybe next year.
  23. :bluesbrother:HERE IT IS, WENT ON A FREEDOM RIDE YESTERDAY IN CENTRAL INDIANA. OUT OF 164 BIKES I HAD THE ONLY VENTURE, NEW OR OLD. SOME DISMISSED IT WHILE LOOKING AT THE OTHER BIKES AROUND IT. "OH WELL". WELL, AFTER 100 MILE RIDE AND SOME "SPIRITED RIDING WITH THE OTHERS" THEY DID NOT DISMISS IT AFTER THAT. PUT DOWN A COUPLE WIDE GLIDES, ULTRAS, VULCAN AND KEPT UP WITH A GSX 750 BUT BRIEFLY... LOL 750 MY ASS... ANYWHO, LOTS OF ??? AFTER THAT AND EVEN WHERE DO I GET ONE.... RIDE ON MY BROS. WHO KNOWS...
  24. Greetings all, Thanks to the information I have found here on the greatest web sit in the world, I was able to gather the courage to do some upgrades to my '84. 1. I have installed new horns, with a seperate circuit 2. Rear LED running/brake lights 3. Exhaust turn down tips located on eBay 4. NOS Venture Luggage Rack Thanks to Interlakes Sports Center, Madison, SD great guys to work with. I think the main reason that Doug Koch, co-owner, really likes to help me out with the Venture is that he had one as a Demo in 1983-85. He told me that it was one of the best bikes he had ever ridden. Again, thanks to all you that have shared your know-how with these great bikes. Dave
  25. Pam and I had a good ride with the Dixie Thunder Run (dixiethunderrun.org) yesterday. About 400mi round trip to Meridian. Only a couple of familiar faces in the crowd, and as far as I could tell, no other Ventures??? (I did see a 2007 (?) Venture with the Voyager kit at Chunky River. Who was that??) We joined the southern group at Camp Shelby. I'm guessing about 200 bikes or so on the southern group. Hit a wall of liquid sunshine just outside Meridian, but only lasted a few minutes. The northern group from Tupelo arrived a couple of hours later after a rain delay. They supposedly had about 400 bikes at one time along the way. All in All, a good day... Rides coming up; Sept. 26 ride to the MS Pecan Festival in Richton. Meet at 'The Shed' hwy 57/I-10 at 0800. Oct. 11-18 ride to Key West. Nov ??. Sat or Sun ride to 'Renaissance Fair' near Hammond, LA. Angola State Prison Rodeo?? Let's plan for that...
