  1. Another interesting article on msn today. Last year there was an msn article about harley's stock dropping from $70.00 per share to $59.00 per share. It is now in the $13.00 range and is expected to drop below $10.00 by Dec 19. The article says harley sold bikes to buyers who couldn't afford it with no money down. They now are having trouble getting money to finance bikes. I wonder how the metric bikes are doing?
  2. Back in 2006, squidley posted an article (http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3905) on how to install an aux line splitter on the back of the amp/radio. I would like to be able to connect my SkyFI-2 to the aux in. My 08 RSV has an aux jack on the front of the casette player, but wire hanging all over the place looks butt-ugly. Plus...I can't close the casette cover when the input cable is connected. Does anyone know if an 08 RSV have an aux input on the back of the amp/radio to accomplish what is outline in squidley's article? I was hoping to get a definitive answer BEFORE splitting the fairing and attemping this "upgrade". Thanks!
  3. If anyone is interested in the Natchez Trace, there is a 4 page article in the November 2008 MotorHome magazine. Might be helpful if you are going on it, or thinking about it. Lyle

    Why the hurry?

The following article was posted on a number of different forums and I thought I'd share it here: http://www.womenridersnow.com/PublicFiles/DepartmentViewer.asp?DepartmentID=22&ArticleID=161 Cheers,
  5. I for one am sick and tired of all those e-mails(chain letters) that promise everything under the sun.Iam looking for the article that someone had posted awhile back that you could send out to all your friends that states that you will not forward any e-mails because they in fact will not make you rich or save the world.does anyone remember this article ? 8. I was looking for any info on a possible successor to the Venture and found this http://www.gizmag.com/yamaha-set-to-release-worlds-quickest-motorcycle/9424/ its about the new Vmax but at the very bottom of the article a Spanish moto mag is reporting a "New touring version with a huge fairing for the U.S." whatever that means could be anything from a 2nd Gen look to a Victory Vision look, went to the article but its in Spanish and since I dont "Hable" I couldnt read it. Can anyone read it and report back? Possible 3rd Gen maybe?
  9. Two of us have recently bought 2007 Yamaha RSV midnight new from a dealer, we both have the problem with the radio not working, as it does and sometimes it does not come on or shut off as it should? I have a 2000 RSV and I've never had any problems with it. On one of the enteries a while back I can remember it showing a cutaway of wire bundles "3" I think and the article spoke of loose contact? did this apply to the radio?and if so where can I find the article? Thanks "mobile"
  10. I just saw this article and remembered when Cindy was having problems with shingles. Thought it might help someone out. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080515/ap_on_he_me/shingles_vaccine Margaret
  11. It looks like we have an petroleum industry intent on ripping the consumer off. According to a local newspaper article on the weekend 1 in 10 gas pumps were measuring wrong, and 85 % of those WERE IN THE VENDORS FAVOUR. How does such an imbalance happen if the industry doesnt know about it. Here's a link to the article (I hope this works)http://www.canada.com/reginaleaderpost/features/hosedatthepumps/story.html?id=e28c1895-89cc-49b7-88bf-484aa73c86dc From what I gather its worse my locale than anywhere else in Canada but it is a nationwide issue. We need to step up the inspections! Brian
  12. OK, what have I done wrong or not done at all? I am attempting to replace the forks seals in my '83. I have gone according to the tech article and have gotten to the point where I pull (pound) the bottom forks off, and I can't get them to budge. Everything else that was in the article is done. The oil drained, 10mm cap screws removed from bottom of forks, upper assembly and springs, dust caps and retainer clips...but when i try doing the slide hammer technique it is like hitting solid steel. What exactly is it that is still holding the bottom forks on that I am pounding against? I even tried putting a 2x6 on the front axle bolt and pounding on that with a large hammer, but I'm at the point that I'm afraid I'm going to bend or break something. Is there something that was not listed in the tech article that I don't know about? One other thing, well actually two. One, (assuming I ever get them forks off) the replacement seal says: "oil side" on one side and "air side" on the other. Is the oil side the bottom and air side the top? and two: Do you put the new fork oil in the top of the upper tube last after everything but the top tube caps is done? I can pound a little harder if I won't break anything, but already I am raising the back tire off the floor with each stroke. Any thoughts for this old hillbilly?
  13. I couldn't find an article about installing a speedohealer on the site, but right on their site is an article. http://www.speedohealer.com/your_pics/royalstar/sh_install_royalstar.pdf
  14. This looks pretty cool. Supposed to get about 70 mpg. I wonder what they're gonna charge for it. The article doesn't tell ya. http://blog.wired.com/cars/2008/02/vw-unveiling-an.html Margaret
  15. This was sent to me by McBrush. Good article...makes me want to go back and spend more time on it and less on the Dragon. http://www.ohio.com/lifestyle/15917027.html
  16. My mom told me about seeing this on the local news in NY so I looked it up and found the article with pics. Here it is: http://www.readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=40534 Thought you all would enjoy seeing this. It's definitely interesting. Margaret
  17. I have seen and read the very good "how-to" on splitting the 2nd gen faring. Now that I am ready to do it, I can't find it. Would someone be so kind as to point me to this article? Thank you!
  18. I just ordered Passing Lamps from Yamaha along with the cool little Visors. Is this something that is difficult to install myself or should I take it to the shop? Do we have a tech article on this? http://images.motorsportdealers.com/common/MediaLibrary/CatalogImages/62/250/7439fa007.jpg http://images.motorsportdealers.com/common/MediaLibrary/CatalogImages/62/250/73599698a.jpg
  19. Interesting article http://www.pashnit.com/venture-wht.htm
  20. I was reading a article abouth the Yamaha midnight Venture...and when I checked by the Features...I noticed they said that it had a Small, dash-mounted storage compartment, that can hold up to 3 cassettes. Can someone tell me, were the dash mounted storage compartment is located on my Midnight Venture. Here is the article. http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2007models/2007models-Yamaha-RoyalStar-MidnightVenture.htm
  21. I just read an article on the dangers of drinking...... scared the crap out of me. So thats it ! after today no more reading
  22. Got my December issue of 'Rider' and it had a great article in it on the Patriot Guard. Anybody from our group in any on the photos?
  23. I have some fairly large cracks in my fairing up by the edges of the windshield. I think it is from the previous owner as I didn't make them. Anyway I got a replacement via ebay and will be replacing it in the next couple of days. If there isn't a tech article about it here should I take pics and documents steps? Is there anything in that area of the bike that someone would want pictures of?
  24. Interesting article in today's paper. Says hour for hour, riding a motorcycle is safer than riding a horse. Now there are probably a lot of variables not mentioned, but thought it was kind of interesting. 25. A Carb-Rebuild is already being performed on my bike, but I ran across some info on doing it myself - in the event that such work is warranted in the future. I thought that the instructions were very clearly laid out, and that it might help some of us, here, who are not as knowledgeable about this as most of the others are. From what I've gathered, this instructional article is referencing 'Honda' carbs, but (and I could be wrong) it is my way of thinking that motorcycle carbs are basically the same - and that they are all dealt with it, primarily, in the same manner. If it can help someone - here is the link: http://oldmanhonda.com/MC/Rcarbs.html
