  1. Hey gang! I'm shopping for a new GPS- leaning toward the 550, but don't like that the price is higher than the model number! Right now I have a 360 (garmin car GPS) and it does work OK for me. Here's the question- What are the differences between units? I thought it would be nice to compile a list on the following issues for GPS: 1- Buddy Rich compatible?? (Y/N) does it allow you to use bike intercom system with BR cable if there's bluetooth? (question 6) yes/no 2- MP3? - (Y/N) plays mp3 files so you don't have to hook up your ipod? yes/no 3- XM/Serius/whatever (Y/N/A) - I don't wanna pay for radio, but lots of people love it!! yes/no/adapter required 4- Map updates - F/P Free or paid? 5- import online map routes? (y/n/3) yes, no, 3rd party product needed... Can it get routes off of gmaps, mapquest, downloaded into the unit so you can plan the trip before you go? 6- Bluetooth? (A/D/N) Answers only, dials also (integrated address book), or NO bluetooth for phone connections when riding... 7- Waterproof? (Y,B) Yes, or requires baggie!!! :-) Not sure what other features are needed... I really am most interested in 1, 2, and 5,6... 4 would be nice if they were free!!! Don't care much about 3. Any other important features Missing?

It has some handy info, routes and if you wish here is a free pdf version for your use. http://www.cruisethecoast.ca/CruiseToTheCoast.pdf There is also a free paper version that can be ordered here: http://www.cruisethecoast.ca/
  5. I just placed an order with JC Whitney for a few things I've been wanting to get. They are offering free shipping today for orders over $75 (shipping for my $77 order would have been $17!!). Just in case anyone has been wanting to order.....
  6. OK, so we all know that if Moma ain't happy, no one is. With that in mind' The better half and I are going to be taking a trip to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas in May. (22-29) The plan is for me to drive out from Ohio, meet her at the airport, (She is giving me some free time), then spend a week camping the Canyon, drive back to Vegas, put her on a plane and then for me to beat-feet back to Ohio. Problem, The need for "STUFF", exceeds my ability to carry on the bike. I know I could find a trailer here in OHio and lug it out there, but what I'd really like to do is drive free from the thing out, rent one while I'm there and then drive free back. Any Idea's about where to find one to rent would be appricated.
  7. Hi, I have a top box from my blue '84 that is physically in good shape but has badly sun beaten paint and is missing the lock and hinge covers. I'd like to know if anyone wants it? Free to good home, you pay shipping. Can do some pictures if there is interest. I guess it'll go to the dump if there's not. Thanks, Brian H.
  8. The Lake Express Ferry just announce that motorcycles will travel free in May and June. Also, if reservations are made online, they will be free Sept and Oct as well. This is a great way to avoid Chicago traffic. My wife and I (and the Venture) have taken it a couple of times. Very nice. http://www.lake-express.com/newsletters/10MarMRF/index.html?utm_medium=email&utm_source=CampaignMonitorEmails&utm_content=990060759&utm_campaign=2010-MAR-MotorcyclesRideFreeKickoff+_+oitukr&utm_term=Clickhere RR
  9. I followed Goose's directions from his post and everything was great until I got to measuring the gap. I did like the manual and Goose said, timing mark in window to get TDC, and then the cams were pointing away from each other at about 5 and 7 o'clock. Problem is they are still in contact with the shims and you can't measure it. I cranked the engine a little further and the exhaust valves were free and intake was pushed open. Can you just measure the gap when the cam lobes are pointing up? It seems the round portion of the cam should be the same all the way around and the valve closed unless the cam is touching it.
  10. For anyone interested in test riding a new Yamaha, here's the Demo Days schedule for this year: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/mcy/demo.aspx It's because of free rides at demo days that my wife and I bought our RSV. Just like a drug dealer: give a taste for free and they'll come back with money! Only more healthy, of course. Maybe we can convert a few more 1st gen folks.
  11. I have a Fairing Sub Frame that came off of my 1988 parts bike that I am going to scrap. Reason being, I cleanly removed the cruise control brackets from it. I needed them on my 1983 scooter for the cruise addition. It is still serviceable, just no cruise brackets, one picture shows where I removed these two brackets. I guess it's not really free, I will send it out for the price of shipping though. It's going in trash in a few days if no one wants it. I would rather not send outside US, with the customs stuff though. Gary
  12. If you are looking for a Zumo 660 these guys have it on for $739.95CDN. www.gpscentral.ca/products/garmin/zumo-660.html I ordered mine from Future Shop and got free shipping plus price matching & 10% of the difference - $733+tax. Keith
  13. Hello Venturers! In the moment it is just science fiction. But i am thinking about new made carbon or glass fiber fairing parts for my Venture. With stronger mounting holes than the original. Especially the two large shells i mean. I have asked a specialist in our company if he could do this for me. But for only one he is not willing to spend his free time shaping a big mold etc. So, if anyone of you is seriously interested in buying two shells, let me know. And i will ask again what price/each would motivate him to work. So feel free to say "i would take a pair for less than ?$US incl. shipping". And if we get some together i will ask again. Holgi
  14. If you are looking for a free photo editing program you can find one here. (I have several programs but I like how this one functions.) www.giveawayoftheday.com On that site is a full program that you can download and install and have a full working copy. The only catch is that you have to download and install it within the time shown on the screen. If you wait till later to install it won't work. There is a different program every 24 hrs. Not sure if this site was posted before...if so ooops!!! Keith

  20. Does it seem to you all that car/mcy batteries just dont seem to last as long anymore? I mean I remember when most of my car batteries lasted more than 4 years, some 5 years. I bought my Chevy Trailblazer new in 2002. I just now put in its 4th battery today. Had lunch at Mojos BBQ and came out and the truck was dead. Nice waitress boosted me and I made it home. Yep, she was stone cold dead again. Load test showed a bad battery. DMM says its charging so im good there. Original died at 2 year mark while the others made it 2 1/2 years before they too pooped out. The last 2 were Napa Batteries. Replaced it with a battery from O'reilly's Auto Parts. 84 month warranty with the first 3 years free exchange. Figure if I get another 2 1/2 out of it at least it will be replaced for free.

They offer free embroidery also, but you can't return them after having them personalized. Free Food

I posted the following from here... http://blog.yourmoney.ca/2009/11/price-scanner-free-food.html Watch the price scanner to get your food for free Standing in the supermarket checkout line waiting for your food to scan can be as much fun as watching paint dry. But if you watch carefully and spy a scanner price error, you could score that grocery item for free. Mistakes on electronic price scans are common at the grocery store. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has found that errors occur in 1 out of every 32 regularly priced items. Errors are more common on sale items, with 1 out of 28 items being overcharged to consumers. The cost of being overcharged at the till can add up to many dollars per month per family. But in Canada, spotting a scanner error could save you up to $10 per item. The Retail Council of Canada has a Scanner Price Accuracy Voluntary Code that states: If the correct price of the product is $10 or less, the retailer will give the product to the customer free of charge; or If the correct price of the product is higher than $10, the retailer will give the customer a discount of $10 off the corrected price. As a consumer, all you have to do to qualify is watch as your groceries are scanned at the checkout and verify that prices are accurate. If you see an error, don’t be afraid to ask the cashier to give you the item for free. If your cashier is unaware of the policy, ask for a manager or go to the customer service desk to claim your free food. Over the years I've used the Scanner Price Accuracy Voluntary Code to my benefit. This year alone I've claimed at least $20 in free groceries due to price scanning errors. At times I've had to explain the code to confused cashiers, but many times I've walked away with free food by just asking. Many participating supermarkets post this code at checkout, so don't be wary of asking whenever you see a mistake. Being overcharged at the till can really add up! The occasional free food item is great, but to help you keep weekly grocery costs down be sure to plan ahead with a shopping list. Download this free Printable Grocery Shopping List to help you: Save money by curbing impulse food buys. Identify healthy and frugal foods on a single master list. Save time grocery shopping. Never forget another grocery item. See the Retail Council of Canada for a list of stores that are committed to accurate scanner pricing with the Scanner Price Accuracy Voluntary Code. Your Turn: Do you spy scanner price errors at the grocery checkout? Do you say something about it? Posted at 04:15 AM in Food and Drink, Personal Finance, Saving, Tips | Permalink
