  1. Great job!! I just bought my 87' Venture a couple of months ago. I have been doing a lot of chrome shinning myself. I have been using 0000 steel wool. It seems to work good also. I will have to give alum foil a try.
  2. No I have not check the collars . Only where the hoses connect. Thanks. I will check them tomorrow. I feel if this isn't the problem then progressive springs are in my future. I just needed someone else to say it I guess. Thanks to everyone for the reply's.
  3. I hope some one can tell me where to look for a air leak. I finally got the electrical part working.(thanks to folks at Ventureriders) The pump is working properly. The rear pumps up and it holds the pressure fine. The front will pump up to 17 pounds and within 2 minutes it has leaked down to 6 pounds. 2 minutes later it is down to zero. I have soap sprayed the air line from front to back several times and I cant see any air bubbles. I have removed the dust seals and checked to see if air was leaking from there. Is there something I have over looked?
  4. Im glad I saved you from having to sleep in your work shop with the bike. Cause it has been mighty cold out in mine. Looking forward to some riding. Hurry back!!!!
  5. Yea you got me on the black cherry. Any bike painted black cherry has to be fast.
  6. That wasn't from looking at the pictures. That was from tying to keep up with it when it went by:12101:
  7. Thanks for the heads up on the ice cream rule Cowpuc. I will have to do a ride-by when everyone turns into the DQ.
  8. Well maybe after I fix everything that's wrong with it. And scrub it from top to bottom. Sorry about the pictures being sideways. It took me forever to figure out how to download them.
  9. OK. I will try and post some pictures. Thanks for your patience and understanding. lol.
  10. Don't ever ask Dragonrider to find you a venture unless you mean it. He will find one for you. He called me last weekend to tell me about one in Ft Walton that was listed in the classified. I called Mike (the owner) and decided it was time to pull the trigger. It's is a good running bike that just needs a little TLC. I know I will be asking for some help from you folks from time to time. I'm looking forward to trying to make it like new again. As soon as I figure out how to add some pictures I will . Thanks Dragonrider for your persistence . P.S. If you bump into my wife.......RUN!!!!!
  11. WOW...I wish I was going. But I'll be at work taking up your slack buddy.
  12. I use 68 HP for riding around in town and going on rides like saturday. The other 100 HP I am saving for the day I have enough ribbing and decide to pass you like the tortise and the hare.(you being the tortise on that day) If you want me to speed up in the future just tell me they are running low on BBQ.
  13. Had a real good time. I was afraid that it might be to hot but it didnt get bad till the last hour of riding. I was glad to meet some more Ventureriders. These are my kind of people. They love to ride bikes and eat BBQ. Two of the top 10 things in life. My hats off to Todd for bringing his brother Bubba. Bubba is nice enough but I dont think I would like to ride Two up with Bubba. In the front or the back. He offered to set me up with his Dentist but I think I will pass on this. It seems Im getting the reputation of the slow rider. This is a reputation that I can live with. Maybe I should change my handle to Grandpa Rider. Anyway Saturday was a good ride, good friends and good food. Thanks Dragonrider for another great ride.
  14. I dont know for sure but do you think it might be all the extra weight your carrying around these days?
  15. Sounds like a good plan. Your going from over 80 hours a week to 40. Your making me feel lazy.Good luck to you . Hope to see you at a M&E sometime.
  16. I ride a Concours 14. Love the bike. I never think of trading . I always think " what can I get to go with it". Its fast. A lot faster then I really need. But its nice to have it some times. The only thing I dont like is the Kipass system. If you lose a key fob it will cost a couple of hundred to replace it. If you lose both of them it will cost a couple of thousand. They have to replace the computer. Other then that I would buy another one in a concours second.
  17. Great story. I think she know your limit .
  18. Lewis aint kidding. That is the best part of working there. And the to go box was enough for the whole family. Tell Charlene the whole family enjoyed it very much. I even got up at 2:30 in the morning and poured a glass of milk and finished off the cookies. Im going to give Charlene two thumbs up.The work enviroment has improved a lot since my first day on the job. Lewis even let me use the air ratchet this time. Most of the time I just get to hold the light. But Lewis the is still room for improvement. I still dont see a Gatoraid cooler around. :scorched:See you at work Lewis. :thumbsup2:
  19. Those covers are looking good. I cant wait to get my greasy hands on them. See you saturday.
  20. I know you hate having to put things off now that your on a roll with your Venture. But dont worrie. After you get your Doc"s OK I take you on another punishing ride like we did last Saturday. Your to close to finishing your bike now. I be over there to help as soon as you feel up to it. Once we get the motor back in the frame its all gravy after that. Take care of yourself buddy.
  21. The only rest stop I remember is the one I got when I was waiting for you to catch up.
  22. Had a great time on the ride DragonRider. It was tough but I did what I could to help. Right down to eatting a BBQ sandwitch. Glad to hear your wife is concerned also. I had to come home and drink a beer in the lazyboy. Oh well some guys have all the breaks. See you on monday.K-Rider:cool10:
  23. Good job Dragonrider. I once set on a grand jury. After hearing what went on in the county I went out and got my wife a over due cell phone. People that hurt others dont deserve a break.
  24. I would like to order a 5-3/4 " patch. Let me know what I need to do. Thanks
  25. 600 MILES!! Sounds like a good ride. The longest I ever went on was a 400 mile ride. It was tough but I was riding a GZ250. Good luck and be careful.
