If they were '06 models, then they were prev registered (probably as demo's) if only 2 yr warranty I'd think. ??

$14,448 US plus appx 18% exchange.... doesn't sound like such a good deal to me.

I bought my '06 Midnight last Nov with 1300 kilometers on it for $12,900 excluding taxes. Crikey!...almost got 10,000 km on it now. Very happy with the bike except the whine gets annoying sometimes. It's going into the stealer's this week for the I-basket swap.

I note that this one also acts as a cover for the gas cap, thus eliminating the reflection on the windshield!

heh ... that's one of the first things I figgured out ... took me a while coz it's supposed to take WMA files but they didn't work so I converted a bunch of my wma files to mp3 and copied them onto the card. I got 92 songs on there and have only used 1/2 the space! Next is to figgure out how all the camera settings work. The manual (including the on-line one) leaves a bit to be desired to say the least.

Rk muffs on venture not what i expected!
SilvrT replied to Disciple Rider's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
Well, I don't know.... my RK's are definately LOUDER than stock muffs. I think the pair I got are burned out but they certainly aren't drilled out. Fact is, considering the sound they now make, I don't think I'd want to be drilling them out. I'm not complaining... I like the sound they make. -
in the sales biz and especially vehicle sales, it's called "going for the BUMP" .... they low-ball ya to get you in the door and filling out forms ... then the "manager" comes in and says they can't do the deal for "that price"... the "salesman" made a mistake... etc etc... BUT... if you'll do the deal at $_____ ... etc, etc... well, you're already in there and they're gonna pressure ya, and you've already got your heart set on buying that .... hey, it works... I used to be a car salesman LOL

I don't get that on mine but sometimes do when I go into 3rd ... haven't determined exactly the condition yet but I think maybe it's when I'm shifting too soon (haven't wound it out enuf in 2nd).

See my post about another oil change and the effect on the whine, etc... http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?p=344631#post344631 BJB ... regarding the I-basket change... according to a dealer here, and what I've heard elsewhere, they will change out the basket once only and yes, if you're not happy with that, tough! Try the Rotella T oil and see if that helps. BTW, I ride with a "beanie" aka skull cap helmet in the hot weather so all sounds are greater ... While the Rotella does not totally clear up the whine, it does seem much better (at least to me). hope this is of some help to ya.

Last Friday I changed out my Amsoil synthetic 10w40 oil and put in Amsoil synthetic 20w50. Thought maybe it would quieten the engine and the clutch whine. Around here, that oil costs $19.95/litre and it takes almost 4 litres with a new filter so, all tolled with taxes it came to $101 and change. To my dismay, the engine actually seemed noisier and the whine louder. I also noticed the temps on the gauge getting up to between 220 & 230. Yesterday morning I decided to go get some Shell Rotella T (non synthetic). I got the 15w40. I'm happy to report that even though I virtually wasted $100 on the Amsoil, the engine is quieter, the clutch whine is quieter, and the temps are sticking close to 210-215 on the gauge after a couple days running around the city in 30 degree celcius weather.. I drained the Amsoil back into the containers and kept it for some other future use. Think I'll be sticking with the Rotella T.

Would you please either type them out or post a link to these "rules". Folks who don't know them might be well served to have them "in front of them" and read them a few times. Speaking for myself, I don't ride in groups a lot so a good refresher of these rules would be handy. I led our M&E ride last Saturday and seeing this post makes me think "I should have done that".

Today was quite warm (around 28 celcius) and we were on the "Ride for Dad" run. The first leg of the route took us thru downtown Vancouver, across the Lions Gate bridge and into West Van. There were over 2000 bikes! ... I barely got the bike out of 1st gear during that time and my temp gauge was pushing 230. I wasn't concerned coz it would get up there and then drop back down a bit so I knew the fan, etc was doing it's job. Besides, there's got to be some room for error on a gauge set that costs $39.95 for the whole set. Generally tho, it sits right at 210 on a warm day at highway cruising.
-
Well, two full days of riding and 20w50 oil makes no difference in the chirp/whine as far as I can see.
-
Just an FYI ... you can do a clean, fresh install of Windows and add nothing and those "cleaners" will find "errors". A lot of it isn't errors per se` but just registry entries that are "pre-set" for future installations of applications, etc but at the time, they don't exist so therefore, they are redundant and show up as "errors". Cleaning them out won't hurt a thing.

I know mine has it too ... funny thing tho, I've found when I'm wearing my skull cap the chirp/whine isn't quite as annoying ... except when I'm driving within the city and am constantly going thru the gears... out on the hwy at around 100 km/h and up...don't really notice it that much. this is something that I learned to live with when I had my '85 coz it had a similar whine. I guess that makes it easier for me to get used to it ... but it does get annoying sometimes. It is weird tho...it does change pitch under different conditions. I can be going along within the city...up and down thru the gears and the chirp/whine is very clear and annoying. Stop somewhere for coffee or whatever...get back on the scoot, fire it up and crank away and...sheesh...where'd that whine go? My plan is to ride it this way thru this summer...then take it in for the I-basket change (if it's still bothersome). I just tonight changed the oil to 20w50 so it will be interesting to see what effect (if any) that has tomorrow.

heh... I've been at this location/job for 3 years and she's been there for 7 .... it's only been within the last year that we even started speaking to each other and that was business related. I've always found her to be "unapproachable" when ya don't "know" her. oh well.. to each their own ... aside from the "Wing" attitude, she seems like a nice person.

Actually, I am retiring as of May 31st. I will be collecting my Canada Pension benefits effective June. But.. who can live on that? ... so I am going back to work July 1st (same place). In reality, it's a technicality in order to qualify for CPP, a person has to STOP working and have no income for at least One month, that being the month they begin receiving CPP benefits. So, that's what I'm doing. And that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

A bit cornfuzink to me (but I'm from CanNuhDuh...eh) ... j/k One thing I notice tho ... the choice for UN-insured and UNder-insured motorist. Now, wouldn't a person who is UN-insured also be UNDER-insured?
