  1. I know some of you ride Wings but I think you "came" from a Venture so I know you aren't like this but it seems lately the Wing riders I come across seem to have a bit of a "chip on their shoulder". For instance, one of the security guards in the building where I work (a very nice lady but...) rides on her hubby's wing with him and have been riding a wing for many years ... anyway, she sure seems to get "snobbish" whenever I start talking motorcycles with her. "Oh, we tried a Yamaha once...it was terrible!" .. "We never ride in groups!" (yet she showed me pics of a few folks they ride with a lot) ... "oh no...we won't do the Ride for Dad charity run... we already gave to charity and there's too many Harley riders there" ... and so on, and so on... Maybe I'm reading it wrong but her tone, body language, and words are sure giving me those "snobby" vibes (btw, she's older 'n me and is about to celebrate her 45th wedding anniv ... good for them!) On top of that, she can't tell the difference between the 1500 style of Wing and the 1800 style. Showed me a pic of their "old" bike that they traded for a "new" one (pic of that too) and according to her, they traded an 1800 for a 1500 but you couldn't tell her that. (she was adamant that the old one is the new one...geeesh now I'm confused LOL) Well, I'm bored, tired, too warm, and anxious to see the work day end coz starting June 1st, I am off work for an entire month! yyeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh .... (maybe all the above is just my "chit")
  2. COOL! ... but not the V-twin clamps for that price?? Dang, if HD dealers "down south" are willing to sell off these RK mufflers at that price, maybe one or more of you guys should go out and buy a bunch and sell 'em off for a wee profit eh? Heck, I paid 50 bucks for a used set and $25 to get them shipped to me ... I'da least paid that much for a new set so that would have been a $40 profit for ya.
  3. could you or someone please explain this and maybe provide pics?
  4. I'm envious!! Yep, the clicking is lack of grease (most likely) ... I took mine apart last Monday for same reason...greased her up and no more clicking!
  5. Chrome gas tank would look good with those chrome side covers! heck... might as well chrome the fenders too...
  6. One sure-fire cure to cleaning whitewalls... you'll NEVER have to clean them again.... Don't put 'em on!
  7. I currently use Amsoil synthetic 10w40. Got my '06 last Nov with only 1300 kilometers on it (that's 808 miles) and it had just had it's first service ... I drained that and put in the Amsoil with a new filter. Seems to work just fine and it's now due for another change so I think I'l put in the same only 20w50 this time (coz the temps are movin up).
  8. I tried 1 bottle ... didn't work ... then I tried 2 bottles... still didn't work ... then 3 .. 4 ... then I lost count and didn't give a Sh$t anymore... :rotf:
  9. LOL ... how ironic eh?
  10. I'm not dragerman but since you posted this in the open forums, I figgure anyone (including me LOL) can respond. For years and years ... ever since it first came out ... I've always used Fantastic for cleaning whitewalls. Many years ago I managed car rental operation so was involved in cleaning cars and trucks a lot ... and let me tell you, those things get real dirty...some peaple are major PIGS and just run the crap out of rental vehicles. Fantastic was literally my saviour when it came to cleaning anything rubber, vinyl, plastic, etc and I've cleaned whitewalls that were so dirty you couldn't hardly tell them apart from the rest of the tire .... Fantastic brought them back to near perfect.
  11. Have you guys paid your membership fee? Maybe non-paid members don't have these???? (just a wild guess)
  12. I also wear fingerless gloves and my fingers get black too but it's not from the grips, it's from the brake and clutch levers...the aluminum. Thought about polishing them up and then applying a couple coats of clear.
  13. I don't know but I do live by the rule of "anything is possible". If nobody has done it, that doesn't mean it can't be done. If it's never been done before, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. Surely somebody has done this...but if not... you be the first and tell us all about how!
  14. here's the link to the muffler sounds.... http://www.venturers.org/Tech_Library/index.php?action=article&cat_id=002009&id=285
  15. ya .... the kind I use is a plant and ya smoke it!
  16. You'll also want to find a set of V-Twin #31-9920 chrome clamp to mount HD mufflers .... retail should run you around $35 for a pair. (that's what I paid here in Vancouver)
  17. Them HD "stealers" around here aren't so generous I've found.
  18. Besides, he goes too slow! :witch_brew:
  19. I'll be at the Vancouver ride (we were there last year too)... and, the first week of June I will be getting my test done!
  20. All that is needed is a bracket and clamps. Clamps are commercially available and I think the brackets are too although I made mine. So, what "mods" are there? None. Somewhere in here is a link to different muffler sounds ... I have it at home but won't be there until later so will post it then if nobody else has.
  21. I noticed a clicking sound yesterday. My scoot only has 7500 Kilometers on it. Found this thread (and a couple others)... jacked her up and pulled the wheel... sure enuf .... there wasn't enuf grease there to ... (you fill in the blank!) Cleaned everything up and greased properly....no more clicking!
  22. This is WAY COOL to find out what ya'll do and that there's so many with such a vast assortment of specialties and knowledge! Compared to some of you, I feel like such a "little guy" in this IT world but hey .... we all play a role and we're all "geeks" to some degree ... until I got into computing I worked at tons of different jobs, never really being totally satisfied. Once I started with computers, I didn't know where I was going, I just went where it took me and I never once got bored or disinterested, nor have I ever looked back. I've never had trouble finding work and when I was self-employed, there were a couple or three years when I made a 6 figure income (but I had no life at that time either LOL). What I have found over the years is that IT folks in the USA get paid a whole lot more than us Canucks to do the same job. Was a time when I even considered moving but other "stuff" got in the way. Regardless, I'm happy here and that's all that matters! Great write-ups guys and gals!
  23. eighteen dollars including 2 beers?? wow ! (you did factor in the cost of the beers, didncha?)
  24. are you sure about that??? I know that Forest Loop is close by.... (maybe I'm just lost now..) :sign20: I'm serious tho..I do live on Forest St ... here's a map where my house is LOL
  25. geeeez... I'm just around the corner from Spruce St which parallels Elm a block over.... lucky for me, I live on Forest St! :rotf:
