ehhhhh.... that's what makes life interesting LOL anyhoo... I've sent out a message to all my riding buddies and all the members here who are within a reasonable distance. I know they'll tell 2 friends who'll tell 2 other friends and so on... I figgure someone will have something.
-
That's a bit far ... we have several members right here in Vancouver. I'll get on it right away. Rick: man, you've sure had your share of bad luck this trip ... hope it's over and done with. emails going out to those I know asap.

the drive hub pins are dry or have very little lube... they come that way from factory. When you pull your wheel, you will then pull the hub pins and you'll see. There's lots of info about this here... do a search for drive pins, or even just rear wheel ... hub pins here's one.. I'm sure you can find others http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24279&highlight=clutch+pins

I carry a plug kit if not for me, to help out someone else. Had to use it for buddy's Wing at the Nelson rally.
-
What he said. Coat all areas where there is metal contact and make sure the slider pins are lubed. Also, don't use regular sandpaper on the pads or rotors... use emery paper. (don't ask me why ... it's just what I was taught in mechanics school some 45 years ago)

seriously considering a Valkyrie Interstae
SilvrT replied to casabroker's topic in General Tech Talk
I've looked at the Valk a few times too ... haven't ridden one yet but plan to first opportunity I get. Followed a buddy riding a Valk with a car tire on the rear through some mountain twisties enroute to Kruisin the Kootenays ... I can tell ya this.... he had no trouble draggin the footpegs around those tight corners and there was no way I could keep up to him. -
thanks guyz ... guess it was "old age parnoia" LOL I pulled a trailer once before about 15 years ago ... "thought" I used a standard ball but we all know what "thought" did ... right? ... he thought he farted but....
-
I'm getting ready to hook up my trailer and am curious about the ball hitch. It appears that when it's snug in the tongue of the trailer that it doesn't tilt (angle) as far as the bike might when taking corners. Do you guys use a ball with a longer shaft than standard or am I just imagining things?

See att'd .... This has been "bugging" me for a while...

I saw that too ... sure seemed a little "odd" to have so many.... do we have a spammer in our midst? and who is this "justin" person and why is he announcing new members instead of Freebird? ... did I miss something?

Entire main drag of New Westminster was closed for an open air car show today. Here's a few pics of what we have to offer around these parts ... couple of them are very unique to say the least... And after that... went to see our new grandson.... now is this a proud "nana" or what? question if anyone knows ... are the handlebars on a Wing adjustable? I found them to be too low and not close enuf.
-
Had an opportunity to ride a 2001 Wing at the Kruisin the Kootenays rally. Belonged to one of the guys who attended. Thing had 150,000 km on it... looked like new still and WOW is all I can say. I had no idea these bikes were such a dream to ride. Smooth as silk, felt much lighter than my RSMV, low speed handling was wayyyyyyyy easier, and the power.... oh man do these things haull a$$ and I didn't even try to crank it hard. Would I buy one??? ..... dunno ... think I'd need to ride one for a day or so instead of just a few miles. Wings, BMWs, and Victory Visions are just not my idea of what a motorcycle should look like. heh ... having said that, I just realized I'm sounding like a woman (if the color is right, it's good) ....

Dunno where all of these places are in relation to you Rick but what about the idea of having a tire waiting for you at some reputable shop enroute to Nelson .... that way you could get yourself on the road and maybe only have a 1 hr stopover along the way ... it would probably be time for a rest anyhoo... ?? (just a thought ... maybe not practical for you) Hope you get this all worked out and we don't miss seeing you at Nelson.- 30 replies

grease is grease and if splines are serviced regularly, why throw your money away ... is it just so you can say "I use the best grease out there!" That Honda moly60 is EXPENSIVE in comparison to any other grease that will "do the job quite adequately". (that's just my opinion)
-
good thing you weren't on the scoot... glad you're not hurt too badly. Just goes to show that a guy needs eyes like a bee (can see in all directions all the time)

And we can now pass along an old "handle" I had to Don .... we can now refer to him as "The Grinder" .... and don't go lettin yer dirty little minds go there!!!! Don kept at it until he made it work!! Great Job!

Quick ride 'round the block=400 miles later + Angry message from her b/f

and who sez a guy can't have a harem??? -
I hope you're gonna disassemble / reassemble all the parts for the painter otherwise you can figgure on triple the cost. I had a body/paint shop back in the early 80's and have painted a few bikes and cars since. Always found the scuff pads very handy for those hard to get at places. If you've done this stuff before, you can do it again (except maybe the painting) ... the prep work is the most important as you probably know. Beware of over-the-counter "Wallmart type" spray can primers. They don't work so well with true automotive finishes. You can use spray can primers but use a high quality product made for the job such as SEM brand.
-
From my experience I don't see any issues repainting any parts on these scoots. As for sanding in the speaker vent area, use a "body shop quality" scuff pad to rough up the surface, clean the area real good with a good oil & grease remover (regular old paint thinner works well) and apply a coat of primer.

I wonder if I'm reading the original question wrong here... you are talking about the plastic dash that surrounds the speedo, etc and the speaker covers, etc???
