  1. There are 2 allen screws at the front (1 on each side), you will find them behind the rubberized mount protector, front of the gas tank near the frame neck. There is one hex-head bolt at the back of the gas tank, under the seat. Remove the seat and it's easy to see. Remove the plastic cover near the tank filler and unhook the wires and breather tube. Set the petcock to Off and remove the fuel line, undo the bolt at the back and the allen screws at the front. Lift the tank straight up and back and off ... that's it. Takes all of 15 min or less.
  2. I think I should move to Ontario ... sure ain't like that here in BC !
  3. I see that there is a question at the bottom of that thread that didn't get answered and it is the same question that occured to me as his picture didn't really show a difference from stock to the change in washer...at least I couldn't see it. On the first pic of the needle assembly, it looks like there are 3 washers (or a clip ring and 2 washers) ... on the second pic, it looks exactly the same except they are separated. So the question is, did he take one washer off the top, reassemble the needle assembly and then slide that washer up from the bottom so that it is below the nylon "whatchamacallit" or ??? If so, wouldn't it just slide off?
  4. All kidding aside ... when I was younger (40 and under) I could run very well but since then I've not been physically active in that way and I've continued to be a smoker and it has really taken it's toll on me. I can't walk very far anymore without my legs and hips getting extremely wore out and sore. I wish I had stayed active and stayed off the cigs. If "you" still have it in you to get out there and jog ... do it!
  5. To live in Vancouver, BC, one has to be a jogger .... there are so many people out and about downtown during the day ... and those bicycle couriers who ride on the sidewalks ... I'm constantly JOGGING them all !! (jogging = sidestepping)
  6. I, like several others, have found a USA drop point. It works well for me coz I am so close to the border and that drop point (appx 1/2 hr depending on how long the border lineup is). Prior to that, it was sickening to buy anything and have it shipped here. for example, my 15" lightbar which cost something like $45 (maybe it was even less) cost me $28 bucks shipping. Now, I just get a shopping list together, buy all at once (generally free shipping to USA) and have it shipped to the drop point and make one trip for all of it. I bought a backrest just before leaving for Cody and had it delivered there ... it was waiting for me when I arrived ...free shipping. Yet it would have been not worth getting it if I had to have it shipped here. There are so many products we Canucks want to buy "on-line" but unless it comes from a Canadian distributor (which generally is not the case), we either hesitate or don't buy it because of the shipping costs. It really sucks man! What's also disturbing is those so-called Canadian distributors who only tender in US dollars and their products are shipped out of the USA so even tho we are dealing with a "Canadian", we still get the shaft.
  7. My sole purpose in life is to serve as a bad example and offend people.
  8. ...and I think we've beat this one around the bush long enuf .... so let's start another thread on "WHAT" ... (coz WHY has already been thrashed)
  9. DITTO all of the above!
  10. Even though the Voyager (2009-2011) is relatively new, it could be that there's nothing BAD to say about. Generally one hears a lot about the bad stuff before any good stuff...
  11. I also disagree and for the life of me I couldn't find who originally posted that statement. What I do feel folks are asking for is not just for Prayers (from those who believe) but for empathy and well wishes from anyone who cares to give it. To some degree, a Prayer (in this context) is really a "hope" or a "wish" or a expression of feeling that is extended to someone in need that they will "pass over" that need, be well again, get back to work again, overcome their loss or disparity, etc, etc.... To make the statement "I Pray you will be well soon." .... does that suggest or say that I am a Religious person? I wonder... I am finding this thread extremely interesting!
  12. I was in the same "boat" and the only other acceptable choice was what I got. It was the style I wanted and at a price I could afford. I bought it used with 1300 kilomters on it (it was 2 yrs old when I got it) so essentially I got a new bike at almost 1/2 the price. In hindsight tho, my income changed sufficiently after the fact and had I been receiving that extra income at the time, I could then have afforded the Ultra ... but I am glad it worked out the way it did although I'd still want an Ultra. But "want" and "can have" just aren't the same.
  13. with an iPod hookup, you could "plug in" any sound ya wanted ....
  14. The "point" simply is to express ourselves. Moreover, and in doing so, it is a way to learn about the folks here because this is our only medium of open communication. Personally, I enjoy reading such "banter" and being a participant. For the most part, nobody gets "hurt" in the process. This kind of discussion, along with everything else that gets posted is a part of my enjoyment ... it is not the reason I joined but rather, the reason I have stayed here since 2006 and read the threads and posts daily and participate regularly.
  15. Yep... Me TOO !!! There is so much "stuff" available on the internet nowadays, and things have a tendency to either become outdated or outpriced that having such stores for the "metrics" is just not feasible. It is for Harley tho because there are so many of them and a lot of things that fit newer bikes will fit older bikes. Plus, you have the "image" factor. I remember years ago when I had my '83 Goldwing ... a guy in Calgary had a specialty shop for GW accessories ... I used to love going in there and ooogling all the goodies he had ... and spending money I didn't have LOL. But that was long before the Internet came about ... or even before personal computers became commonplace. There are a lot of "goodies" available for the RSV ... just not always in one place. And if it ain't distributed by some commercial supplier, it can probably be found here on the site or, someone here might take up the challenge of making it, depending on interest, as has happened several times over the years.
  16. I think you just want to be able to walk into a Yamaha Accessories store that is chock full of "goodies" like a Harley store is and be like a kid in a candy store :stickpoke:
  17. I am also an athiest (in that I do not believe in God or Jesus or any of the various "religions"). I do; however, believe there is a "higher power" of some kind. I do not pray ... but I do hope that you're really only including yourself in the above comment because I do not have anything against those who do or for that matter, the many "Prayer requests" because......
  18. Up until about 3 weeks ago I never had a backrest. With my stock seat, 2 or 3 hours riding and my butt would start going numb .... longer than that and my back would start being sore and I found that I was constantly tensing my leg, torso, and arm muscles so a long day in the saddle would leave me pretty stiffened up and sore by the end of the day. I looked at Utopia and Diamond R backrests and chose the latter simply because they had one available and could ship right away. I am amazed .... no, AMAZED at the difference it has made. I am able to ride all day long without any of the above mentioned issues and surprisingly, I find I have much better control over the bike, especially at slow speeds. I would think that you'd be happy with either the Utopia or the Diamond R product.
  19. y'all don't say, ... eh
  20. link doesn't show the vid
  21. Well, we'd NEVER trash ourselves so what's left? :stickpoke:
  22. I agree with Goose and I'm curious to know who the dealer is ... could it start with "GA" by chance? Sometimes ya really have to PUSH HARD on these dealers to get them to do anything. I only had one dealer visit so far since I bought mine and that was for the " I " basket swap.... and I had to push hard for that and then a second time when they put the wrong basket in.
  23. dang, I'd better get home soon coz I still got a "baggie" stashed away somewhere (hope I can remember where the ZigZags are...)
  24. Not all aftermarket pipes are annoyingly loud ... but when they are, I just blow past them.
  25. You will need a Morgan Carb-tune or similar to do it. If you have that, it will take you 10-15 minutes .... much less time than taking it to the dealer or any other shop for that matter.
