ya.. I was lookin fwd to a visit also, not to mention a nice long SOLO ride back home LOL I've looked at a lot of Wings over the past few years and kinda fell in love with this particular color. It's a one-owner bike... a little higher on the mileage than I would have preferred but the condition of it is immaculate... I couldn't resist!

Nope... it's for sale. http://bc.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-motorcycles-touring-2006-Yamaha-Royal-Star-Midnight-Venture-W0QQAdIdZ313012835

Was going to wait until spring ... came across a great deal on a 2001 Valkyrie but lost out to a previous "bidder". Oh well, things happen for reasons I always say (the Valk was a 2-3 day ride away) .... and then I stumbled onto this ... turns out it was the right bike at the right price in the right place, so we bought it. 2003 GL1800A

It's back to clouds and rain here for a while anywayz ... dang Brian, I hope you keep those warm temps for a while... at least thru the end of the month (coz you know where I'll be at that time...and what I'll be doing!) ps... let's keep it a secret for the time being!

well, this should keep the resale value at a respectable amount..... (I hope)

It's also a pet peeve of mine; however, it is commonly referred to 12AM when it is midnight and 12PM when it is noon.

I could be mistaken (was one time before...) but I believe the RSV and RSTD are the same as far as frame and suspension are concerned. I just saw on f/b where a guy has a 180 on the rear (so he claimed). I'd be wondering about it's fitment on the stock rim ... sure, it probably fits but is it within spec?
-
I had discussions with a member about this a year or so back ... now I've lost the PM's and can't remember his nickname. Anyhoo ... he was running a 170 on the rear but apparently had to shave some metal off the inner fender bracket. I'll look and see if I saved any of this info once I'm back at home.

Nina & I are saddened for your loss Wayne. We have also lost a loved one recently ... it's a sad and difficult time ... but we cherish the memories and are grateful for their time with us. May they RIP.

LOL ... in those days we could "cruise" all night long on 2 bucks worth of gas... heck, today it's more like $40 ... or 2,000 percent higher! Now if only my income had increased by that % !!!

As I mentioned to Don, XP compatibility mode can also be used on the installer if the app won't install normally. This sometimes works. Aside from that, one can download for free Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/ This is quite different from XP Compatability Mode and gives you a separate "virtual" computer running Windows XP where you can install any number of apps and run them as though you are still in Windows XP. Moreover, you can create another "virtual PC" and install Windows98 or Linux, or whatever...

Sometimes a different point of view helps (as in 2 heads are better than 1) We use the Vostro desktops here at work. Are you using Windows 7 Professional or Home?

Don, depending on the "old" software, there are ways of making them work in Win7. As a tech, I have found that out and have solved a number of incompatability issues here at work which has saved this company a lot of money and grief. PM me on this if you wish, I'd be happy to help if I can. Rick

Kerry... you saw and heard mine (Stebel) ... plenty loud enuf (most of the time), and mounting was no problem even where I put it...which I thought was easier than replacing the stock horn. About the only thing better IMHO would be a second one on the left side.

I totally agree (if it works, don't fix it) ... but even though it works, if it can't do all that you want, then upgrading or changing is the only recourse. Needs change over time. What you bought today might give you all that you need ... today. Tomorrow is a different story.

Don, I notice you're running vBulletin® Version 3.8.7 .... would a newer version (current is 4.0 I believe) resolve any of this?

Same here ... although we're not as high as 90 but over 80 is great! In fact, ever since returning from Cody, we've had really nice weather ... not hot ... just nice.

Thanks for the input guys ... I guess my next "order of business" is to take a ride without the trailer and check the tire. I was running 39-40 lbs cold and when hot it was around 44 lbs. I did install new brake pads prior to this trip but they didn't seem to be dragging. As for lube in the wheel, etc... I went all thru that when I changed out the tire. We didn't have a lot of weight in the trunk or side bags and neither of us are "heavy" people. Daytime Temps were around 30 clecius (86 f ). As for the tire temp itself, a little more clarification... I could hold my hand on the tread area ... it was HOT but I could still hold my hand there... as I moved closer to the rim, it was hotter and the rim itself was almost too hot to touch. I'm wondering if I got too much torque on the axle end nut, causing excessive pressure on the bearings... is that even possible? Guess the "no trailer" test will give me more of an indication.

Just returned home from our weekend camping trip with the new-to-us tent trailer. Had to stick a plug in a nailhole in the rear tire just before we left. Fairly new Dunlop Elite 3 (appx 4500 miles on it). Checked the tire regularly during the trip and found it to be very hot after an hour or so riding. So hot in fact that I could not hold my hand on it very long and the wheel was even hotter. Running 39 lbs cold in the tire. The front tire was warm but not too warm and the trailer tires were about the same. I guess I had about 40lbs weight on the tongue and a light load on the bike. We did the whole trip (appx 800 kilometers) without issue but the tire was still quite hot each time I checked it. BTW, I have no idea how hot the tire might have been before this trip riding without the trailer. Any thoughts on this guys??

WOW Brian ... that's an awesome looking scoot... I am soooooooooooo envious! Hope it comes together for you. That being said, I think I'll seriously be looking to replace my RSMV by next spring. I know I've said this before but after this past weekend trip hauling that tent trailer, and the clutch basket whine ... it just doesn't do it for me anymore (sad to say coz I do like the bike). A valk is definately on my list.
