When I went looking for my new bike last year, my dealer was advertising a 4.99% rate for 48 mths. Well I figured that was a pretty good deal even though I was more than likely going to pay cash for it, so filled out the paperwork and waited a couple of days and didnt hear anything, so I called them to inquire, well I do believe I have pretty good credit, never filed for bankruptcy, never late on my bills, paid many off way before they were due, always made at least doulbe required min. payment , guess what, the best they could do was 14.99%. We went round and round and they wouldnt drop it at all............got a copy of my report from the declining company and nothing, nada , negative on it.........my credit score was around 790 and they said it had to be over 800 for their low rate.........I told them they could shove their rate where the sun dont shine........Now this was Yamaha financing not the dealer, so I asked the dealer how many have they done at 4.99 and he said he couldnt tell me, that was priveledged info..... so that tells me not many if any........so I paid cash..........which was sort of my plan all along, but I was curious to see if i would qualify.............. But I got my bike and saved all that interest...........which surprised the sales person, he thought I was going to back out of the sale because of that.......but at the price they offered me on the bike, they thought they could recoup their loss with that high interest rate..............NOT. SO beware of interest rates that sound too good to be true..........I will never ever finance a vehicle or bike ever again.........NEVER!!!!

I made some adapters with the bend in them to adapt RK mufflers to my 1st. gen. I just took the RK muffler to my local Midas Muffler shop, the owner goes to my church, and told him what I needed and how much bend I needed and presto, he bent it up on his pipe bender and stretched the pipe to fit the muffler. The bend wasnt much, about 16 degree if I remember right and they worked perfect. I had a post here but I think it was pre-crash, so it got lost. Hope this helps you a little.........Good luck and dont forget the pics.....

Its not hot pink, but the Muffinman still might like it.........:rotfl::rotfl:

Just wanted to ask if anyone would be interested in bidding on some items I have left from "Tail of the Dragon" @ Vogel 2007. I have 1 brand new Tail of the Dragon T-shirt size large, a Tail of the Dragon Patch 2007, and a DVD video of the 2006 Rally. If there is no interest in these items I will not post them. Again all monies raised by these items will be donated to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital. These items will be offered in 1 auction all together.

My bad, guess I didnt have my reading glasses on when I read that post........................Still a very tall bike for any rider under 6 ft. But not quite as bad as 5'6", now where did I put those riding er reading glasses..............
-
At 5'10", you might be a little challenged at riding a first gen, they are very tall bike and top heavy at slow speeds. I am almost 6 ft. and still find myself on tiptoes when I put both feet down. If you find it to challenging you might want to switch to a lower ride like a Vstar, I have a 1 Gen and a V Star 1300 and the Star is a much lower ride and much easier bike to handle, But I do love the Venture for it ride and accessories.........If you are going to be riding alone I would suggest something smaller. Good luck with what ever way you decide to go, we are here to help in any way we can.

Really bad super cell thunderstorms moved through the northern part of Ga. last nite, no confirmed tornados reported as yet, have some wind damage in some areas, plenty of pea sized to baseball sized hail everywhere, but we dodged the bullet, got pretty nasty here with wind, lightning, small hail, but we are good, will see how the rest of town faired on my way to work.......hope everyone else made it through ok. Some areas got hammered real good with very large hail, bet the insurance adjusters are going to be super busy for a while.
