  1. Yeah, I probably won't tear into anything right now as the green light still works fine for neutral, just one of those things that doesn't make any sense why one day it would work, then poof the next not!
  2. Is this the same list I would need for an 89?
  3. I'm not sure if I shorted something out or what, but when in Neutral the green light goes on, but the gear indicator still reads 1. Do I need to replace a fuse or something. Just a few days ago it would show N like it is supposed to. Thanks, Todd
  4. haha ya, because Harley was SOOO original in the beginning!
  5. OK, I am really confused on this. My new bike has the extra lights which are set in chrome all over the back of the rig and a simple switch to turn them on and off, which works fine. I was replacing it with a rocker switch that has an LED (so it now needs it's own ground). When I flip the switch the on/off functionality of the switch works fine but the LED only goes on for a brief moment before the switch engages (basically just flashes on then back off). Any thoughts on why this LED wouldn't work. For the supply I am using a blue wire that comes from the fuse box. The load is the one I am assuming goes to the lights. I ran a ground wire right to the negative terminal of the batter, do I need a different ground point? I also went and got another identical switch in case there was something wrong with the rocker I bought first. Thanks!
  6. OK, I've looked through http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=48542 but have a few questions. I just got my 89 and the leak from the front right is fork is getting worse and worse. I know I need to replace the seal, so where do I get that from? I found the thread with how to replace it, but I'm wondering if I should get Progressives as well? The CLASS system seems to function and hold air. If I do that what additional parts do I need? I can follow directions but don't understand what I need or how to do it on my own (if that makes any sense). Thanks in advance!
  7. OK, then I say put your VROD against an R1...it's just not a good comparison. I've spent my time in the service around loud machines also, but when I'm sitting on my front porch with my children and we have to stop talking to let some tard going 25 miles an hour go down the street because we can't hear it is again not a good comparison. Also I would really like to see where Japanese engineers based their design on anything Harley has ever touched.
  8. The critics are there for a reason. If you want to spend $20,000 on a loud bike with no guts, I know a Harley dealer who would be happy to help you You could put $10,000 into any bike and I wouldn't race it with a stock bike, that's silly! Don't mean to come off negative, I just get sick of hearing them go by my house at 30 mph blaring over 100 dB when the kids are trying to sleep.
  9. I got roped into helping a friend lay a patio....hopefully Wednesday I can snap some shots.
  10. hopefully that pipe isn't hot that she pushes her leg against!
  11. After hearing Harley's go by my house all day and night I'm very happy with the stock purr.
  12. Bought it today! '89 Blue VR. I am extremely excited. Thanks to everyone who gave me suggestions, I felt much more confident knowing what to look for. It has a few nicks and dings here and there and probably needs a little work, but it runs great. One of the carbs was burping a little but a can of Seafoam and fresh gas and runs like a top. I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow!
  13. I found an '89 that I am going to look at tomorrow. I spoke with him this morning and the only thing he mentioned was that the screen where the PSI (I assume for the air ride) is cracked. He said it still displays, just cracked. He also stated he has "never filled the air up" for the air ride. Is this something he would need to fill? He said the screen just shows PSI and nothing else. Is this normal behavior or what would that indicate? Thanks!
  14. Well the (insert explicative) sold the bike to someone else even though he told me on the phone he considered it sold until Sunday when I could get there. Any others for sale?

The screencap before you play the video is from Navy-Marine Corp Memorial stadium on graduation day. I have a lot of great memories from that stadium!
  16. How about flip-flops, shorts, and a tank top? Just kidding but some a$$ on an extremely loud Harley drives by a few times a day in that gettup.
  17. OK, thanks. The helmets I would borrow are from a '09 Ultra Classic, so they probably won't work. I'll take them along just in case though! Why would you want to spend that much money on something so loud and slow?
  18. We get all our supplies at http://www.midwestsupplies.com/. We either order online or make the two hour drive up to their warehouse. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. It is always fun for the kiddos to run the grain cracker at the warehouse!
  19. OK, thanks! I am going to borrow a set of helmets when I go on Sunday to look at a bike I want to buy. I want to make sure what does and does not work!
  20. I brew maybe 5 kegs a year. Currently have a Big River Brown on tap with a Newcastle clone fermenting.
  21. Will the Harley headset work on an 88 Venture? Or is the Harley 8 pin and Venture 5 pin?
  22. MiCarl, thanks for all the advice! Condor, I am assuming there should NOT be any smoke? Bill, thanks!
  23. I am having trouble finding a thread on here (there probably is one and I apologize for not finding it). I am going on Sunday to look at an '88 Venture R that I would really like to buy. Are there any suggestions on what I should be looking for as far as trouble signs? I do like to tinker to a point, but want to be able to confidently ride the bike right away this summer. Thanks! Todd
