ok im looking for a way to stop them from leaking? they seem to close nice and tight? but after a rain or a simple wash job the top trunk gets about an inch of water in it? it runs to the far side while on side stand.\\ the right sadle bag does about the same/ i looked at the latches and see there pop riveted? i saw on ebay someone was selling a upper trunk repair kit? latches small screws straps ect ect. just need to figure out how to remove the rivets if thats the case or if there is just some kind of adjustment and gasket that can be used.

ok what are you farmers down here in good old IL giving these birds? just got back from a 50 mile ride me and 2friends. me on the venture. one friend on his new vstar. and a lady friend on a pink crotch rocket yep its pink. we where going down a nice country road here into a little town called tonica. i just got a new bell helmet maroon. and a jean jacket. well we went past this field where a farmer was out there plowing i guess? that field was full of i think are gulls? well we got about where the middle of the field would be. on this road when whoosh the birds took off like the movie the birds. then it happend splat splat splat this nice white stuff hit me and the female friends bike like someone tossed paint at us. my face shield became blured the windshield held some of it back. my jean jacket all down my shoulders and back. her pink bike coverd with it. friend laughing his arse off he got it in his hair. teach him not to wear his helmet LOL so is this something you farmers feed to maybe make the birds crap them selfs to death LOL

ok maybe not glue but what do you use to repair cracks in the fairing and stuff? i have heard of plastic repair, pvc glue, plastic bond ect ect. i have a C shaped crack in my right side fairing where the lower the air tub goes in i think im right there? its the vent on the main part of the big side fairing that help? i dont want to have to remove the fairing and try to get to it from the inside. so can i just repair it from the out side? also is 40 mpg fair for the bike. i did find my poping its a exhaust leak down where on the right where it goes in to the collector main out side one not back one. the chrome shield is missing on that side and a little hole is in the pipe can this be welded?. i can live with it. right now. all in all with all the help i have gotten here. the bike is running well and comming along. and i did one thing i ran out of gas right in the yard but gauge showed one bar? hmmmm then parked it and nothing no bars? put it on reserve still no bar but fired up. so how much gas is in this sucker LOL i think ill just get a can and get some gas as nearest gas is 5 miles. thats what i get for playing and not paying attention.

well i learned the hardest words to say is im just to busy. i found that out today my uncle not by blood divorced my aunt 5 years ago. and i just never kept that much in touch with him. i was allways JUST TO BUSY well i thought about going to see him soon. and then the bad news came he passed away yesterday. age 83. now his family had a grave sight service. and it was to late to say good bye i guess i learned a lesson today so good bye uncle sorry i was just to busy to pick up a phone or stop by. and i forgot the words i tried to live by tell someone you love them today for tomorrow they might not be here

aww thanks annie but at last i donated the pink underware to the garbage man hope he enjoys them. yep and for the 12 bucks i paid here. where can ya get this kind of info for that amount? and i love ya too annie:big-grin-emoticon:

i was warend about this!!!!! i went out for a ride nice day in the 80,s runnning good about 20 miles out i came to a small town doing about 25 when hey the bike is slowing down? i looked down saw a little smoke on the right side where the rear master is. i thought its just some fluid i spilled burning off? well then the bike wouldnt move? bet ya all can guess what happend? yep i overfilled the darn rear master and the back brake locked. well thanks to yama mama i had just the right tools in the tool kit to burp the bango bolt. as i didnt have the bleeder wrench. i then rocked the bike she moved. vroom straight home with it. stoped good ran good. but should i check out something else? i like my back up maxim but its just not the same. but hey im out ridding one way or another.

well weekend is going good. i got the bike to idle a few turns here and there but maybe turned the wrong screws all in all not bad. im sure the bike needs a crb sync. went out early to day and with some advice i got on a previous post i used the turkey baster and filled the rear master cyclinder and went at bleeding the brakes. started at the rear. pumped it 5 times had friend hold the rear brake lever there and opend the bleeder. whoosh some air. closed it pumped it again 5 times opened it and being silly was looking at the bleeder when i opened it and got safety glassses coverd with brake fluid. checked the rear master and put a little more fluid in it. pumped the brakes and went to the front. cracked the bleeder and it had fluid no air. turned the bike on started it up and hey no warrning light:cool10: had to do alittle linkage adjustment. took the bike out and wow i got brakes:cool10: now being tired for some reason i cant get the side bags on. i set the lock to set went to put them on and just cant get them far enough forward to set the darn lock? maybe wd40 the rubber to make it slick? put on the side covers i got off ebay.. and bike is looking better when i get batteries for the camera pics will be comming. now if i can just figure out the bags im almost good to go well i mean i can go just need a little more tweeking on the carbs. and i want to give a big shout out to everyone who gave advice. lets see for 12 bucks i got about a million in good advice. is it ok for a guy to say i love ya guys? ok the women here too. and no i dont swing that way but i do have a few pink underware and t shirts thanks to a helpfull 7 year old great niece

could be worse they could have just made a am radio and then you have to buy a fm converter i remember my dad had a old car with a record player built in? and it had a fold into the trunk hard top something like that it was cool

sounds like you had a good day my friend. i to went at the bike. worked over the idle issue. think i got it.? put on some of the cosmetic stuff false tank. side covers . started cleaning it up. and just spent some good time with the old girl. and shes starting to like the attention. tomorrow fill the rear master cylinder. and work the bleeding of the brakes. i enjoyed a good day of wrenching on it. made me feel young again.. now where did i put my walker? going to need the pain pills tonight as im sure im going to hurt latter but ahh what a day

thanks i found it and gave it a little turn bike now idles at 1000 rpms with no choke. im happy now. and the one i was talking about is on the left side and holds the throtle cables up on side of carbs it was just about to shake off i turned it 2 and 1/4 turns. bike responds better now??? also pulled the air filter off and looked in side of box and spoted oil residue just after a fresh oil change?? now if i recall skydock or someone makes something to modify and get rid of the damn tube wich is a royal pain in the butt to get back on. crankcase tube is it? you know im wrenching on this and starting to enjoy some of the fruits of my labor. now to get a crab sync and ok one more question on the rear master cylinder i cant reach the top screws to remove cover but saw a plug on the side i opened it and there is verry little brake fluid in there is it possible to pour fluid in the master that way through that plug? as the screws on the master are rusted and one looks rounded once again thanks as you can see im bored and its going to rain so im just farting around with stuff. i know i got good pepole here who help or will tell me jim leave it alone to maintenance day LOL

ok calll me dumb if ya want but is the idle screw the one with the spring on it. that holds the throtle cam down by the carbs. i pulled off the side covers and saw this was hardley touching so i tries to turn it but it killed the bike turning it in? any help i would be gratefull. im about 98.9 % there on this bike i just know i can get there

ahh what to do what to do??? ok being bored i though i would go out and check something on the bike after going over many searches here? well i pulled the false tank cover off. as im going to put on another one. and just for shoot and gigles i checked my air filter i bought it new last fall. well i started the bike let it warm up some. pulled the air filter off she died. hmm ok. put it back on jim. started it up again and she started running around 1000 rpms hmm thats good right?? but then i noticed the choke was at about a 1/4 this is one of thoes up and down chokes. i released it all the way bike stayed at about 850 rpms. hmm??? so i set the choke back at 1/4 and she ran ok till i cracked the throtle a little hesitation? now im thinking these carbs need to be sync? i set the rear air to 41 like a member said to do. pumped the front up to 14 took her out for a spin. hmm not as harsh a ride? then ok i looked on the side and saw this adjuster with 1 2 3 4 a black dial? ok is this the mono shock adjuster? its on 3. and which way do you turn it. im starting too think real hard about this bike. its like saying dont give up on me? so im going to name her sumertime. sumertime she runs ok sumertime she gives me fits. so ok i scratched off a lotter ticket today won 300 bucks who hoo. i got to put it in the bike. i feel so close to getting it right. as for that second generation the loan company is getting. i checked out a pic they have of it but thats last years pic. looks good on film but waiting to see it up close.

hey dan shes got 77,100 miles on her as of today? im thinking real hard on this. its not a choice i realy realy want to make. some times frustration gets in the way. at one time i could work on bikes. now i just lost that touch. i never tore into a motorcycle carb. done lots of small engines and snowmobiles in my time. just seems like for every one fix i do on this bike 2 more pop up? after all its 26 years old. you know you get that feeling of ok its going to happen. im going to be stuck somewhere. also im kind of afraid of it a little. its heavy. and at one time i tipped it doing a darn uturn. a little hairling crack on the air flow on the fairing. from doing that. im going to take some pics of the bike and show how she looks. the usual cracks in the trunk by the mounts and corners. not big one just there. saddle bags faded and clear coat peeling. cosmetics dont bother me much. just want that feeling of it running and going for miles with out wondering if im comming home with it? if i decide to keep her. im just going to ride it this season. then rent a garage that has some heat in it and tear into her.

the loan company called me back around 5 pm tonight and asked if i just want to keep it for the summer. and they wont charge intrest on the payments. then they will help me find a new owner??? never heard of that? they said they got a repo comming in. a 1999 yamaha 1300????? they said they might just do some kind of trade switch. and my payments wont go up. but asked if i would be willing to find a buyer for mine ? im not sure i understand that? im thinking they ment sell mine bring in the money give it to them then they put that as a down payment on the other bike and i just start all over again for a 3 year loan??? and i got a friend saying hey come on just another 600 into her and she be allright??? so here is what i done to her so far. 1 new dunlop tires 100 miles on them. 2 good used rotors fron pinwall all 3 of them. 3 new brake pads. 4 new plugs and oil change now with 100 miles on the work. 5 new gel type battery 6 brand new windshiled any one ever see hog wild?? thats why i replace the shield but it just but itwas a phesant not a crow. 7 i bought all the radio parts off a trial member here and just installed them to day. every thing works now. 8 got some used side covers comming in from pinwall there off a 1990 but was tould they would fit the 84? 9 theres a used comlete dash with 18000. miles on her not installed because after joining this site i found out how to fix the old one. old one is a little faded. 10. a good used throtle grip with cruise from pinwalls. not installed i bouth it because the old grip the rubber is starting to peel. so feels yucky when grabbing it. 11 used false tank cover . i say a 7 out of a 10 came off a 1985 with 18000 miles on the bike. 12 2 used mirrors not ones a little foggy on the side. there now installed.. the bad she wont idle right? and she feels like shes bottoming out? air in front has 14 rear 28 but over bumps she rattles your teeth. im sure fairing needs tightning? she drags when warm starting but wait 10 minutes and vroomm?
