  1. Is it a personal preference in regards to having a swivel hitch? I think that is what it is called. Being able to lean the bike somewhat while the trailer stays level. Any dangers in not having it? Any dangers in having it? I have been pulling a trailer with my VTX for a couple of years without a swivel. Drug floorboards many times with no ill effects. I've only pulled it behind the RSV once so far. Time will tell if the greater lean angle of the RSV will pose a problem. If on a long trip and want to unhitch it so you can ride w/out the trailer, what do you do for security to make sure the trailer is still there when you get back? I do understand too that if someone wants to take it, they will find a way. I carry a 10' chain and pad lock and chain it to what ever is available. But it's true, If they want it, they will get it. Please share which trailer you bought and why. Pics welcome too. I pull an MCT by Aluma. I looked at ALOT of trailers and feel the Aluma had the most to offer for a moderate price. About $1700. I'm very pleased with it http://www.alumaklm.com/mct_towable_motorcycle_trailer.html Like I mentioned before I like the black one from HF partly because it is black and don't have to repaint. It also already comes w/ the diamond plating. black HF trailer The Aluma is available in black with polished diamond plate I see that it does not mention anything about what type of suspension it has (if any). Some (not all) mention leaf spring. Overall thoughts on that one vs. the others? The Aluma has a torsion suspension.

  6. I had to go check the garage to see if mine was still there. Did you trade? If so, what did they give you for the VTX?
  7. My last ride of the year will most likely be on December 31st. The first ride of the year will be on New Years day. I just love living in the south.
  8. I have had two of of the cheaper lifts fail within two years of purchase. Wish I had bought the Craftsman first. http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950191000P?vName=Tools&cName=Auto+%26+Mechanics+Tools&sName=Lift+Equipment+%26+Jacks
  9. OWWWWW! Hope you heal quick.
  10. Cool! Thanks for the link.
  11. I agree with the need to wear ear plugs but can't find any that I really like. They are either uncomfortable or cut out too much sound. It appears the sound reduction on these plugs is about what I'm looking for. How's the comfort?
  12. Is there a story about Steve I need to hear?
  13. I just wanted to say thanks to SteveW for synking my carbs. Steve and I had never met or even conversed yet he invited me to his home so he could fix me up. Thanks Steve. I also want to say thanks to 86er for the offer to do the same. I accepted Steves offer over 86er's mainly because the roads near Steves place are some of the best in Ga.
  14. Bought my new 09 on 9-11-09. I have managed 5000 miles even tho we had a 500 year flood and I'm in the middle of remodeling the house. Almost done with the house. We'll do some serious riding soon.
  15. I went through two differant "bargain" lifts before buying the Sears pro. Sure wish I had bought it first. Ya get what ya pay for.
  16. Thanks guys. A ride in the mountains sounds good for Thursday or Friday. Steve, I'll send you a pm. 86er, I appreciate the offer but SteveW says he has expierience with 2nd gens and the the riding is better up his way. Would love to meet up with you sometime though.
  17. Need to syncronise the carbs on my 09 venture. Home remodeling has eaten all my tool buying funds. Anyone in North Ga. have the tools and want to hold my hand while doing this for the first time?
  18. We havent met. But look me up when you get home. First beers on me! Thank you for your service.
  19. I'm a wood worker. Started back around 1970. Build almost anything except chairs. Started doing it for profit but found deadlines and budgets took all the fun out of it. And most people just don't apprieciate, or realize how much work and money goes into real, hand made, hardwood furniture. I used to hear, HOW MUCH!!!??? I can get that down at the xyz store for 1/3 of that. Do it for my own pleasure now. The problem is, the bikes share garage space with my tools. They always have a layer of sawdust on them.
  20. I carry a Slime pump along with a plug kit with me. http://www.gadgetjq.com/slime_pump.htm The pump doesnt take up much space in the bag. It can be bought at most auto part stores, Walmart etc.
  21. The corded plugs look like small pieces of rope coated with glue.
  22. I have plugged quite a few motorcycle tires as well as car/truck tires. I always use corded plugs and run them till the tire is worn out. Never had one fail.
  23. This kind of stuff really angers me. I hope these two pieces of dung NEVER get out of prison. I agree with the advice to make sure your son gets counseling.
