  7. Welcome to my world! I wish I would not have had to go to work. You really ought to ride the 3 sisters. It is worth the small detour. May be the best riding you have ever done. Call me if you need directions. Tom
  8. It is truely about what you want to ride. Ive had numerous and loved them all but never found the "Perfect"bike. All of them I have tweaked somewhat. HD is a nice bike.

As someone that has worked on a few Rallies there is alot that goes on that most people are not aware of. Suggestions are always welcome and the giving of money as a prize has been addressed numerous times and the trailer has always risen to the top by majority. The raffle of a trailer best represents the Organization and what we do. As said prior if someone wins a trailer most of the time the value of that trailer can be quickly turned into cash. After all only one ticket will win it. Buy a $10.00 ticket, sell the trailer for even a $1000.00 which would be very easy to do and you profit $990.00. A pretty good deal. At the start of this years Rally I was asked to be on the committee and gladly accepted but shortly after I had to step down due to a severe back problem and surgery. Knowing all the work involved and hours of time discussing, debating and going over the details to make a Great Event happen I knew I could not do it. These guys that are organizing this Rally do the very best job possible and do it for one reason -- To promote an annual get together for us ALL to enjoy and meet up with fellow members and they do it without pay. Yes a little of the left over monies go to cover unforeseen expenses and If not mistaken the OPE Fund..I think its called something different now. (This fund covers flowers ETC so VentureRider.org can show our respect to "our VR family members" for funerals, etc.) I have suggested many things that were shot down but I do not take it personal, thats the way it goes when you are brainstorming for the good of ALL members. PLEASE do not take this any way other than what I have stated, just an explanation of the tireless work and negotiations and comprimises that must take place to make a successful Rally. I for one appreciate all ideas and I Thank You for making your thoughts available. Tom
  15. ABS on mine..I had to try it out so when it started raining off I went to the highway..took a deep breath ran the bike up to about 35 or so and hit the brakes..VERY HARD..It just stopped, and QUICK,no tire skid..ABS is for me!
  16. OK,anyone that has ridden a Gold Wing especially over a rougher road knows the front fork set up could use some attention..dont get me wrong it is super on the highway but you still feel harsher bumps thru the handlebars. That being stated I just got home from a ride with another Wing that has the "All Balls" and Progressive Rate springs installed on it...plus a Kumho Run Flat Car Tire. My observations:Night and day difference having the progressive rate springs in the front end,the all ball head bearings are very stable feeling, seems more responsive also. The progressive Rate springs took 95 % of harshness out..Im saying 95% because after appx 50 miles or whatever riding it I didnt feel the harshness but Im sure as with any bike a hard enough hole in the road will make it jolt you. The Car Tire....I will not be going with it..I felt very unsure on it as it seemed to want to roll as I would corner, that being said the guy that owns it can easily scrape the boards and corner as good if not better than I. On April 5th I will be going to Houston to have the all balls and progressive springs plus shock bled and reloaded plus Chrome Wheels installed. For $275.00 I am having the All Balls and Springs put in,I am supplying the springs. I think this will be the best money I have spent tweaking a bike compared to the ride I took today. I hope this write up helps anyone with questions on the front suspension. IM me if you need the guys number or if OK with Freebird I will post it here..Tom
  17. Get the baker wings under the mirror and it will help tremendously with wind buffetting. Mine is gone totally but I also put on a clearview tall windshield too. Im doing a few mods to try and make it exactly like I want it..My Hwy pegs are a great addition and fits me perfect. Everytime I ride mine I love it more and more. I loved my RSV too just wish they wouldve updated some. Both are super bikes though.
  18. Not planning on it but if he talks me into more Bling who knows..Thanks for the offer!
  19. Well I thought I had all the chrome I could get on my bike but I found a place in Houston where I can get a set of Chrome Wheels for $700.00 including new seals, bearings and Installed.. Needless to say I will be in Houston on 4/5/2011 getting them installed. I will also be getting a few extras that I dont need but I love to get things "Tweaked". I cant hardly wait!!!

    Hitch

I may not be understanding correctly so I will put a link to the one I use. It is VERY secure and has additional mount onto rear crash bars. I have no trouble getting rear tire off or access to it. 5-8 minutes I can have it off either by laying it over or jacking it up just a little. I hope this helps...Also the rear wheel just to leave on the bike while cleaning it is a PITA. with ANY hitch or without. http://wingstuff.com/pgroup_detail/272_Trailer_Hitches_Racks/128_Kuryakyn_GL1800_Vertical_Goldwing_Trailer_Hitch/?goto=%2Fpgroup_list%2Fgl1800%2F272_goldwing_Trailer_Hitches_Racks%2Fdes%2F
  21. Prayers are with you..
  22. Our prayers for Claire and the Family are sent.
  23. Many run very fast and I keep it around 65 and IF they beat me it's less than 5 minutes. At 65 I average 55 VERY easy. In summer months most bikes are loaded at max weight and as hot as it gets I feel safer at 65
