Has anyone run a 170/80-15 rear tire
Richie R replied to Cowboy's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When I bought my bike and there was a 170 on rear and it rubbed on the driveshaft tube. It wore a bunch of the tire away and I replaced it with the correct size. -
Did you have those powder coated? I like your color blue looks a lot like mine a little lighter maybe. Are from the Tomahawk area? http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa254/richier73/100_0609.jpg Richie R

When I bought my 01 venture the po had a 170 wide tire on the back and it rubbed on the driveshaft housing. It was a dunlop white wall, when I took it off the tire was very worn on the side like all the letters were gone and that side was very thin. Just thought I throw this out there. Richie R

You can use tips like these not a very good picture but I can rotate them to any position I want. Plus with tips like these the Bubs are a little louder due to less back pressure. My brother has a set of bubs on his 07 midnite with the bubs tips and his bike is quieter than mine. http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa254/richier73/IMG_0364.jpg

Hey guys I am looking to replace my 96 suburban and found a really clean 06 avalanche LT with leather interior it is loaded and it has 75,000 miles on it. I have just under 200,000 on my suburban. Is it worth buying or just buy something newer. Thanks in advance. Richie R

I always thought a crossover was going from one side of the road to the other and back. Besides I have a 4 wheel drive station wagon oh yea they call it a suburban. Richie R

When my wife ans I rode the 1100 V Star all the time my seat was the ultimate and hers was the mustang. She said the ultimate was way to hard for her and the mustang was way better. You know you can have your stock seats redone in a pillow top for your RSTD just a thought. Richie R

They started to put the cats in the head pipes a few years ago because everyone was changing the mufflers and not using the cats then. EPA you know. Richie R

changed out the blocked pilots to 17.5
Richie R replied to roadminge's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I did 130 miles on the 4 lane and speedo was between 70-90 mph and I got 38.7 mpg. Which is still the same well really its half a mpg better. But I did do a bunch of really hard acceleration bursts in passing some morons on the road. At 72 mph my speedo reads 79 mph. Richie R -
Yesterday I did a little under 300 mile ride and seen at least 15 deer hits along the roads i was driving on. Plus a few turkeys so be careful out there. Richie R

Well I can't give an accurate reading yet but I used to go 55 miles before the first bar on the gas gauge would go off. This time out it didn't go off until 61 miles so hopefully my mileage has gotten a little better. I will report back when I have more info. Richie R -

Looks great, nice job on your rear speaker install. I think chrome wheels would be awesome on your bike. You did good. Richie R

Did you check your float levels when you had your carbs apart? I put 17.5 pilots in mine last week and I checked my float levels and they were .19-.23 none of them were the same. So I put them at .34 and my pms at 2 3/4 and none of them were the same. They ranged from 3 3/4 to 2 turns. It runs much better and cold starts are way better. This is a great site and I got all the carb info from here. Richie R -
Our bikes maybe over geared some and that makes them a little soft down low and its really no big deal but there are times you wish it had more torque down low. The fact that Harley has 90 hp doesn't really matter but its torque comes on much lower in the rpm and that makes them quick from the lights. The v max rear end is a good idea but I must like my bike enough not to put one in. lol Richie R

I think I sat in the corner long enough. Can I come out and play now? My 2gen is pretty quick after it gets in second gear. On the back roads my favorite 2 gears are second and third and use forth just for cruising. Yamaha should have made the motor at least a 1500 or 1600 V4 and give it some more torque and keep the top rpm around 7000, then you would have something. Richie R

Just in all first gens have been recalled, due to all the Tupperware flying off and creating a safety hazard on the highways. So you will just have to buy a 2 gen and slow down!! Richie R

I know what you mean by the torque off the line and the low speed acceleration. I really like my venture but they could have done better with that v 4 though. I have exhaust on mine redid the carbs float level, pilot jets it runs great but it maybe time to upgrade. We have it down to the Cross Country Tour or the Road Glide Ultra. Maybe I miss the low end torque from the old hot rods I built when I was younger or the one I still have. lol Richie R
