It is a beautiful scoot, iffin I had monies to play with that would be very tempting. I just installed the HO stator on both mine and Gunboats bikes, very happy with the results thus far

http://www.pcwracing.net/catalog.htm Talk with John Gayne, he's the owner, tell him you want the clutch upgrade for your Venture and he will send you all you need for less than $100. I have installed atleast a dozen of these in both 1st and 2nd gens, including 3 of my Ventures. They work great and you can forget about it. And no you dont have to replace friction discs, I have NEVER seen any of the disc I have pulled out ever out of tolerance. Clean the steels up and reinstall it...your done.

I myself like a throatier sound, and I have had the H/D mufflers on all my RSV's I'm not into obnoxious loud, but I like to hear a good set of pipes sing, the Venture has an awsome sound to it with the right pipes.

Dont quote me but the cams are a bit milder in the 1st gen and the valves are bit smaller if I'm not mistaken. There is no Vboost on the Venture either, and I run my '89 past the 8K redline regularly and the engine is running out of steam at thast point with our cams. -
