Iowegian, We saw a pic of your ride from yesterday, a couple hours after we contemplated putting a small box on the back for the camping gear. Your thread convinced us, so after a trip to the Man's Mall, we opted for black plastic(they didn't have the aluminum anyhow). $33 for the box and $46 for the LED flush mount Stop/Tail/Turns. Now I just have to make some kind of mounting plate/reciever assembly to bolt on under the Hitch Doc. We'll post more pics when done, but here's the box with lights installed... Thanks for re-affirming that we are not totally nuts in avoiding the trailer, Scooter Bob and Karen

I just found a thread they posted on the construction with pics. I've already got a Hitch Doc on the back that pulled a 325lb camper trailer with 300+lbs of stuff in it out to your ABATE Freedom Rally a couple years back. And I got in the bike pulls out there also. X-wife got the big trailer, good for her Karen and I get by just fine with tent, just want to get the stuff off the trunk and dry. I think we'll head to the Man's Mall today and look for a box. Thanks Again, Scooter Bob -

Looks like you guys had a fun day. Wish we'd known about it. Or maybe we better start watching that calendar here. I see it was listed. Maybe next time. Karen and I were sitting in the garage with tape measure in hand and camping gear on the floor trying to figure out how to make a luggage rack for the hitch to get the stuff down off the trunk. Since whatever we did would need lights, and waterproof would be nice, we started thinking about putting a closed box back there with lights and all built in. 2 hours later I see your post and in the pics is just about what we are after. Who's got the midnite with the utopia backrest and the extra box on the back?? Is it a store bought tool box with lights added?? Is it bolted to the hitch?? Just don't want to re-invent if I don't have to. Later, Scooter Bob -
Are you looking for "burma shave" specifically, or any product/business that uses the one liner signs strung out along the road?? Later, Scooter Bob

CAR STOLEN-LEO's AND OTHERS, WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO??
Scooter Bob replied to Scooter Bob's topic in Watering Hole
No new news on the purse, but I think she's got everything taken care of. After reading the PMs and E-mails and Posts to this thread, I am starting to better understand the cell phone tracking issue. The local police had said the phone company would only track in case of iminent danger. And while it shouldn't be expensive to do, I can sort of see why they would charge so much. I have this picture in my head of everyone that just lost the phone wanting it tracked to save the replacement cost, and I'm sure the phone company would rather sell a new one anyway. Again, thanks for the help, Scooter Bob and Karen -
Almost had my first ride of the new year today.
Scooter Bob replied to Gary N.'s topic in Watering Hole
I'm usually afraid to take that chance, guess that's why my bike usually looks like crap. Better Luck Next Time, Scooter Bob -
That one's not near as perrty as the red octagon I saw the other day, but it's round and it may have been a barn and that works for me. So eagleeye, what are the rest of us looking for now??? We've got a little day light left, and I'm itchin for a little ride.. Later, Scooter Bob

Skeptical after all noise complaints
Scooter Bob replied to Bobcatpat's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
When I think I hear a little more whine than usual, or some other slightly strange noises; I go on a local poker run and ride next to some of my HD buddies. After 20 miles or so of listening to them, all the venture problems are fixed. Piece of Cake just my , Scooter Bob -
CAR STOLEN-LEO's AND OTHERS, WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO??
Scooter Bob replied to Scooter Bob's topic in Watering Hole
She has her car back, but they did steal the purse and all that's in it and the phone. Not sure why, but the cops didn't even fingerprint the car. They are going to visit some area houses and ring her phone to see if they can find it that way. So, if you can think of anything we missed on the list, we'd appreciate it. Thanks, Scooter Bob and Karen -
CAR STOLEN-LEO's AND OTHERS, WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO??
Scooter Bob replied to Scooter Bob's topic in Watering Hole
Good Idea. We were waiting for the cops to tell us to do that though. We were going to do that, but then thought since the phone is connected to a tower, it might be helpful in tracking. I'd still be interested in knowing if it can be tracked in a case like this. The dispatcher did say that since the report was filed, she thought the phone company would waive all bogus charges after filing. Not sure on that though. Regards, Scooter Bob -
CAR STOLEN-LEO's AND OTHERS, WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO??

Stolen at 2:30 am, found 11:40 am Karen just went to get Missy to get some of these things taken care of. They decided to check around a little and found the car in a city parking lot not too far from where it was taken. They parked it in with Karen's truck, and went and hid and called the police. Cops just arrived when she called me. I'll keep you informed as to what might still be missing after they all check it out. Thanks Again, Scooter Bob -

CAR STOLEN-LEO's AND OTHERS, WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO??
Scooter Bob replied to Scooter Bob's topic in Watering Hole
Thanks, but, since it's an older car (97) with lots of miles (170k), and not worth a whole lot, she didn't have full coverage on it. I actually am surprised this happened. This isn't a big city crime area, happened in Beaver Dam (pop. 15,000), and a couple blocks from the police station. Regards, Scooter Bob -
Karen's daughter's car was stolen early this am. It was reported to the police within 1/2 hour. In it was purse with house keys and everything else, including cell phone. Question #1 - since phone was on, can it be tracked from tower to tower?? Question #2 - we are making a list of things in there that need to be followed up on. What are we missing?? The list so far... phone credit/gas/debit cards social security card day care swipe card for child drop off and pick up health insurance cards change locks on apartment Driver License Inform anyone one of her Contacts on cell phone to protect against scam calls. Thanks in advance for any and all help in this matter, Scooter Bob and Karen

Read about you're attempted murder, glad you made it out relatively ok. Hope they find the guy, :thumbsup:and However, I sure hope the Geico Police haven't been following this site.. Later, Scooter Bob

That's going to take 20 years to prove though; by then there might be 3 of them that finally need towing. Just , Scooter Bob

I've about used up the third ME880 on the back. I get a little over 14k american on them and haven't had any problems with chunking out. If the price is comparable, I am going to try an AVON next (probably in a couple weeks). I here they are quieter, just from what I've read here. The biggest reason for trying a different brand is, the ME880 gets scalloped looking after about 10k. The center tread area ends stick out from the sidewall tread and gets noisy in the corners. Maybe the Venom will not do that, anyone know??? Scooter Bob

"The Dells,Baraboo,I was sorta kinda close...." Ya, kinda close, but I don't think it's the one you were tipping me off to, so I feel better about it. I didn't want to be called a cheater if I didn't absolutely have to be.. "Is that the place across from the the Badger Ammo plant?????????" Yes, and it's quite a place. Have you been there before?? I also liked the Surplus Store right next door. It's like a boneyard for used industrial equipment. I may be back the next time they want me to do a low budget automation project at work. "Hey buddy, thanks for the sideways pictures...I think I threw my neck out of joint...." Sorry, it was just soooo tall, it's the only way to take the pics. And then I used my sister's puter to post them on Friday as promised so we could stay up there an extra day. She's into apples now,and our camera wouldn't hook up, so we fired up an old laptop she had. :bang head:Between the old puter and the very slow "Wildfire" satalite internet, I was glad I got anything to post. Our 100 mbs dsl now seems like one of those "first gens" I've heard so much about. You and your bike and a real life Round Barn in the pic. If you're riding today, there is a round one about 12 miles west-southwest of here. There is an octagon one on 12 between Dr Evermore's Scrap Sculpture and Baraboo or the Dells. Has everyone voted in VR POLLS about sticking this thread on the front page again??? Later, Scooter Bob and Karen P.S. Happy Easter Dan and Shari and everyone else.. P.S.S. Because this thread does get "chatty" (not that there's anything wrong with that) I'm going to repost whatever the current target is at the bottom of all my posts so it's easy for everyone that's playing to keep track...Perhaps others will do the same... The current target is... You and your bike and a real life Round Barn in the pic. If not quite round, at least an octagon. by Scooter Bob and Karen

Here's a link to a site with info about... Dr. Evermore's Scrap Metal Park http://www.ohiobarns.com/othersites/miscellaneous/49-57smp/49-57scrapmpark0.html where we found the big guitar. If you're ever in south central Wisconsin, check it out. It's South of Baraboo on US 12 about 8 miles. The good doctor is now in a wheel chair, but will be sculpting again this summer. That was a fun target, can't wait for the next one to be found so Karen and I can play again. Later, Scooter Bob and Karen P.S. The current target still is... You and your bike and a real life Round Barn in the pic. If not quite round, at least an octagon

How 'bout a picture of you & your bike in front of a larger-than-life musical instrument. Something you might find in front of a music landmark, nightclub, recording studio, music store or something. Has to be at least 3 or 4+X normal scale to qualify. It 's not where you wanted us to find it, but it's big. It's at a Scrap Metal Sculpture park just south of Baraboo. I can't believe I never heard of this place till yesterday. I'll post a link about the park when we get home. WilCruise , If you like it, the next target is something my dad (a truck driver) says can be found in most areas of the country. So Here Goes... You and your bike and a real life Round Barn in the pic. If not quite round, at least an octagon, we saw one of each on the ride yesterday, so I know they are out there. Good Luck, Scooter Bob and Karen

And I've been straining my eyes trying to read those little flags. Thanks for the tips guys. This is the first forum I've spent much time on, and I keep learning new tricks all the time. Later, Scooter Bob:Venture:

Are all you southern folk going to let another one go to WI?? We'll be leaving this morning to head to my folks in Menomonie for a visit (or maybe it was an excuse to get another 500 miles on in a couple days ) Either way, we'll be looking in the Dells (thanks for the tip Dan) and every other possible town between here and there. We won't be back home to post a pic till Friday night so... The race is on:Venture: Good Luck, Scooter Bob

Ya, I rode through Mt Ranier Nat Park in 2000. I put the Electra Glide in neutral and engine off for 9 miles one time and 2 miles another time down through the twisties. It was a beautiful ride. I had camped in a road side park about 20 miles from the Nat Park and was in the park at 7 am, beat the motorhomes. Scooter Bob

Be sure to start in Iowa, and take the ferry across to Cassville. You get a nice little ride on the river you are about to ride along for over a hundred miles. I could see hitting the other 20 states, just to say I did it. But I don't see that happening any time soon. Later, Scooter Bob
