If youre ever up at the North side of the Bakken give me a call, see if we can meet up for a coffee. Brian We are just starting a project in Minot one still up in the air over in Stanley I don't know if I will get as far North as your though, John
-
I already have done research, I found that article when I googled bakken, the info on Snopes seemed to be quoted from other articles I have read, I am running a business here that is sending material into oil field area, so I have a vested interest what is happening there, I do not rely on Snopes totally either. I would like to say everyone should research this on their own as you said and I am quite sure a lot of people will be surprised by what they find. John

I have attached an article, I did not have time to read this article complete but we know here anyway that because the oil in the baken oil basin is very deep in the earth and surrounded by layers of rock it is expensive to pull up but now is cheaper than forgein oil it costs around $80.00 a barrel to retrieve so oil com[anies were reluctant to drill until it went that high. By the way last fall they announced they have discovered another oil field that is said to be as large or larger than the bakken basin, frustrating seeing the prices soar just because the oil companies want it to, anyway here is the article by Snopes snopes.com: Bakken Formation John

I will follow and repeat this advise as many times as possible. Thanks to all that replied I had already planned some of the activities mentioned here. Rick & Sailor that info really helped I was worried about traffic before reading your comments we will be sticking to cabs an busses. Bill I realize there may be dangers but that goes where ever you go these days, the resorst so far, Mexicos 2nd biggest industries have been fairly safe, most of the problems have been border crossing issues with the drug cartel far from any of the resorts, I realize that can change at any given time, Thanks again John

Ditto, Completely agree with above. Also if you do rent something (car or bike) the farther off the main tourist area roads you go, especially into mountain areas the more likely you will find bandits. Current warnings are tourist shoud stay in the tourist areas. I will be following this advise, we are very aware of dangers of leaving the tourist trap areas, I was thinking about going south of Playa along the ocean to Tulum for a one day trip, about 200 miles round trip never had plans to leave the tourist area but even this doesn't seem like a good idea. I was more worried about getting run over than anything else
-
Yes, I have seen the traffic in other areas of Mexico, an I am very concerned about that, however I have heard that going south along the ocean had less traffic an might be do able but I will definetly take your comments very seriously, I will wait till spring to ride if the roads are anything like what I have seen in other parts of Mexico, I have always been happy to be in a BIG BUS from the airport to the motel so if the traffic is same going south of there I won't consider renting a motorcyle Thanks for your comments John

Ten Thoughts to Ponder Number 10 Life is sexually transmitted. Number 9 Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die. Number 8 Men have two emotions: Hungry and Horny. If you see him without an erection, make him a sandwich . Number 7 Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach a person to use the Internet and they won't bother you for weeks. Number 6 Some people are like a Slinky----not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs. Number 5 Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in hospitals, dying of nothing. Number 4 All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism. Number 3 Why does a slight tax increase cost you $800.00, and a substantial tax cut saves you $30.00? Number 2 In the 60's, people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird and people take Prozac to make it normal. And The Number 1 Thought Life is like a jar of Jalapeno peppers--what you do today, might burn your ass tomorrow. - - - and as someone recently said to me: "Don't worry about old age -- it doesn't last long."

Have a lawnboy mower that is NOT selfpropelled but did the same thing ran great when pushing it straight but when I turned around with it, it would die out, after many hours of frustration my neighbor convinced me to change the magnitoe, so I bought one, when I went install it I found the clamp holding it on was loose, which on the lawnboy provided the ground so I cleaned it up tightened it down returned the new one, that was 5 years ago no problems to this day might be worth a look.

Very Nice! I too do not like the glare on my windsheild friend of mine with a Venture showed me his trick was to take a foam beverage holder push the bottom out, slide it over the gas cap stick your water bottle or the venture cup you bought from Don last winter in there you have a beverage holder without the glare, downside it is not easy to look at when parked so I pull it off an through it in the bag, 8000 miles have never had one blown off.

Went to the North Dakota Peace Gardens last year which lies in between the 2 Countries never gave it a thought, cause we never went by the Canadian Port of Entry. The Peace Gardens lie in between the two Port of entries. While they did allow us back in, were told you need to have a pass port, our names taken down and told we would be detained should we try to enter the USA without pass port. Bottom line you need a pass port

Has anyone used jake wilson for tires
MLCRIDER replied to GOODWRENCH's topic in Royal Star Venture Tech Talk ('99 - '13)
I too am looking at tires thru Jake, my question is when buying on line do we worry about how long ago they were manufactured, after reading last winter about tires with a long shelf life not being trust worthy wondering if it is safer to buy locally knowing what you are getting before purchasing -
Don I wonder if you add the 3.00 plus if you need more for shipping and do a recount see if there is enough interest at the new price

From a company's perspective the way they a looked at it is "if you can't run your own life what the h--- are you going to do with mine". I was hired by a company that did the credit check back in 1999, after I was hired I ask what is up with the credit check, and was told if you have a good credit rating it shows good character, show up for work everyday, mostly being reliable person. While I was happy it panned out for me I agree with everyone else here, what a bunch of BS. Also it was mentioned about insurance credit checks that is also true much for the same reasons for what I understand. About 4-5 years ago I switched insurance companies an they did the credit check all was good. Couple of months later Iget a letter that my credit may have been compromised since the company that did the insurance credit check had all their info stolen, some of you may remember the scandal about 4-5 years ago where someone breached the security of a major company that does these checks and milions of people were at risk and this was about insurance checking credit WHAT A BUNCH OF BS. You always have to worry about identy theft, I have always felt safe giving info a bank now your giving confidential info to all sorts of Tom, Dick or Harrys again WHAT A BUNCH OF BS. So from now on I think I am going to say you first cause I want to make sure your rating is good enough for me to give you that info.

I am wandering if this bike being it is an 07 sold in late 08 had been sold before, maybe on a lay away plan lost his job couldn't make payments or he bought it got cold feet, scared to ride, or died before delivery, but even if any of those things happened, it would still have transferable warranty left and the dealer has every responsibilty to let you know you were buying a previously owned machine an is hiding the truth that he sold you a previously owned never ridden scoot. Which he would of had to tell you, because warranty starts the day the bike is sold, leaving you with less than 5 year factory warranty. As everone else has said something is wrong with this deal. Call the better business bureau NOW!!!!!! I bought my 08 Venture in January of this year and found several hold over 07 so I know they were available but as they say if it looks like crap, smells like crap, it must be crap. Now go kick some:buttkick:

First of all I do have a brother that has been a GM service manager for about 15 yrs. I can't get a hold of him at the moment, but I am sure I will be able to get the correct info and will pass it on whether this has been corrected on 2009 Silverado. Here is my unbiased opinion, (did I tell you I have 4 brothers 2 sisters we all drive GM) I have had my GM for 7 years it had 20,000 on when I bought it. It now has 140,000 miles on it I have never had a brake issue. I do live in the great north where roads are salted nearly every day in Fargo ND. Absolutely no problem and this is absolute truth I have the original front break pads on it an the rotors have never been touched. I have replaced the rear at about 80,000 front will be replaced this spring. I have pulled my boat to many Minnesota lakes, trailors to Spokane and back to Fargo in other words I do use it as a truck I have pulled lots of loads, which is effiently powered (5.7) and safely stopped them all. I will agree that the anti locks are too touch they tend to release the wheel to quickly but as I said i have pulled many trailor including some overloaded ones. No tranny, engine or 4X4 problems at all, I did replace the fuel gage which is in the tank and so I replace the fuel pump at the same time which was shockingly expensive over $1000.00. Other than tires, shocks, wipers any other regular maintance I honestly have had no other repairs. It really comes down to regular maintance & common sense to make your vehicle last no matter what the make! One final thought make sure if you buy that F-150 your mc trailor is big enough to haul them both!!

I really want to thank everyone for the kind words and prayers it really is helping everyone get through this tough time

:Venture:I have a buddy that just bought a 06 with 7600 miles on it for 11,500 and another who as he put it he doesnt care what color it is, as long as it is black bought a 07 midnight special with 5500 miles on it for that same price and I just bought and o8 brand new for i hate to say a little more than the guy above but i do have the s model which also has the chrome forks, I believe the advise about holding out for one with warranty is a good way to go. :thumbsup2:Good Luck and welcome
